The last time I was here there was all kinds of antique pedal cars on display last week they are all gone just Christmas decorations. My friends said the owner retired and sold the business. I will miss having chats about muscle cars and motorcycles. I also wish the new owners best of luck. This is a great building to work with and I'm glad to see some of the changes I'm glad they are still offering the weekly specials boards along with having the biergarten out back. I've had the country styled steak, fish fry and the chicken dinner are all solid choices imo. I'm not exactly sure how the bartenders serve food and bartend. But it looks like they are dual trained to table waiting as well. If that's the case expect to wait a little for service even if you eat at the bar. We've been to this place on and off for years. They have a well established clientele. Their vibe is fun too they have small old cars on the ceiling. And a party room and a game room. Lately, their menu has shrunk some and I think they may have changed food suppliers or recipes. They're known for their horseshoes: a meat with fries covered in cheese. Last night the meat tasted different and the cheese sauce recipe has changed. And not for the better. My son said the chicken which he always has didn't taste the same either. And it didn't taste as good as it had in the past. Not sure the reason for these changes, maybe a new chef? But our opinion is whatever they've done lately, undo it, it's not an improvement. read more

I had the barbecued ribs that were fantastic. I'm gonna give them a 10 out of 10 I will return. The Service is great young lady Server was kind attentive. I saw other friends there. The horseshoes used to be good. We used to eat there a couple times a month. But then the ownership changed. They got rid of the pepperjack cheese sauce, and even got of their regular cheese sauce so far as my taste buds are concerned. I presume this was in favor of whatever cheap sauce they now put on the horse shoes. But they are open on Sunday, which is an advantage of some other competitors. But now I learn they seem to have forgotten that a HORSE SHOE is double meat. A PONY SHOE is half meat, and now they offer "one kind of shoe" which is a PONY SHOE, that they would like to charge HORSE SHOE prices for. Great, you're open Sundays now. But why bother? Service was great, the waitress - Chloe - was on top of everything. Food was good too although the new owners took off a lot of the options. It is a firm belief of mine that if you serve chips instead of fries with burgers you should not be allowed to be anywhere near a restaurant and of course that's what's served by the new owners. The food took over 1 hour to get out for only 2 pizzas and 2 meals. Seems as though the new owners don't want to pay to have enough people on the clock so the extremely short staffed kitchen and FOH could not keep up. As I mentioned before our server Chloe was great but she was the only server in the entire dining room. The new owners also took down all the cool decorations and wall art that has been there forever. Went there mid afternoon on a Saturday for a drink and some food. The restaurant seating area was moderately busy, and everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves. Sat at the bar and was happy to be able to play some songs on their TouchTunes machine. Wanted walleye, but was told they usually only have it on Friday till they sell out even though it's on the menu with no posted exclusions. Opted for a small pizza, but the crust wasn't edible to me. Chicken tenders were typical, overly breaded pub fare, but enough to soak up the alcohol I'd had. Service was relatively friendly, and I'll be interested to see how the new owners make it their own. We were extremely disappointed to find out they have changed our favorite horseshoe recipe with seasoned fries and cheese sauce. I personally feel the overall ratings are a bit low...my fiancée and I had an amazing meal! We both order the AYCE Walleye which was outstanding and she could only get through one serving (serving sizes were huge). I managed to knock out two batches of fish but did not eat all of my sides (fries and applesauce), only because of how full I was! We would easily go back and the service was nothing over the top special, but we had zero complaints. We ate at Top Cats on Friday Sept 25th. Arrived around 5:15 seated quickly. Service by waitress was quick and attentive. Wife had the the all you can eat walleye which is served with a large portion of fries, small container of cole slaw. According to the wife the walleye was super and piping hot. I had a bowl of chilli and cheeseburger. Chilli was not the best I've ever had. Was actually bland and flavorless. Will not be ordering it again. The cheeseburger was good. One thing that I do not like that not only Top Cats but other restaurant's are doing is bringing salt, pepper, mustard, ketchup in little packs. Please go back to the regular condiment containers. You have to clean and sanitize the tables so take an extra minute to wipe down the salt and pepper shakers. read more

If you like every dish straight from a food service company, this is your place. I don't think anything is actually created there - they just assemble pre made food. I got stuck dining here three Ike's at lunch and every single time was awful. The first time I had a grilled chicken horseshoe. The chicken was largely inedible. It was dry, tough and chewy. The second time I had the buffalo chicken shoe. The fried chicken was better but the fries and cheese sauce were off. Someone I was with ordered the chicken and noodles special. It was neon yellow! The waitress offered the information that it was made from a powder with dried chicken bits that they rehydrate. Yum. This last time I had the taco salad. I've never had such a flavorless salad. We had a adult birthday party here few weeks ago. Brought in about 35 - 40 people. The back room was great except it was VERY hot and servers could'nt figure out to put on a baseball game on the TV's. We ordered pizza's and a few others ordered off the menu. What surprised us was they charged us for EVERY SINGLE SODA everytime (refills) that someone got one. The soda cost almost as much as the pizza's! Most restaurants charge a lot for their soda but its free refills which everyone assumed it was. The food here tasted great, the buffalo chicken horseshoe is my favorite. The chili, pizza, and summer salad are some of my families favorites. The owners seem to be very friendly. Nothing much good to say. Service is average at best. Food is less than average. It's almost like the place goes out of its way to make your experience suck. Every time I've been here, the place has been crawling with large tables full of families with kids running amok - not an enjoyable experience. As part of a group that used to hold our meetings and eat, we tried to book the meeting room at their new location. While trying to book the room I was told that our party of 12-15 would have to have a $100-$150 food and alcohol order to secure the room. As the President of my organization I cannot dictate what my members spend. I have a hard enough time with my own budget much less what my members have to spend. Stopped here on the drive from St. Louis to Chicago for lunch. All of the workers were super friendly. The food came out very quickly and was good and hot. We all had the Italian Beef horseshoes, which is an open faced sandwich with cheese and fries on top. We could see how they could create a cult following. I know the food has always been mediocre, but tonight I find out their driving is dangerous. Tailgating me down I-55 with brights on. If I would have had to slam on my brakes I would have been dead. If you are going to have TOPCATS as your license plate, you should have some brains. And the negative reviews say it all. Usually food is also barely warm.
