Informed them that I intended to use the car to travel to Washington in the afternoon, and would need to take the car somewhere else if they were not able to work on it immediately. They agreed and said that they would get right to work, and that they would call if the problem were serious so that I could make alternate travel arrangements. Then, they proceeded to hold the car for the ENTIRE DAY without doing any work or calling. After calling several them several times to no answer (late in the afternoon, far too late to purchase a plane or train ticket), went back down to the station in person to find that they had done NOTHING. NO WORK WHATSOEVER. They had, however, hooked up the diagnostic machine (when, I don't know), and informed me that I had a serious transmission issue. Of course, they didn't bother to call to inform me of this, as they had promised, and they never intended to get my consent before beginning work. So my travel plans are ruined, just so I wouldn't have the chance to take the car to a competitor. Oh, and to top it off, they OVERCHARGED for the pittance of work they did do (the diagnosis) BY 600 PERCENT! $90 for a $15 procedure. Avoid this place like the plague or you may get scammed.

My North State Custom agent , Neil C., was the consummate professional from start to finish in the process. As this was first major auto insurance claim, I was entirely clueless on the process, but he reassured me (most) insurance companies will come through once their adjusters come to the shop and consult with him and his colleagues. He was absolutely correct, aside from paying my deductible, I had no other out of pocket expense and my car looks brand new inside and out. Customer service is king these days, and these people could teach a masters class on this topic.
