My policy in hiring anyone is to start reading the worst reviews first and then work my way up to the positive reviews. Precision Fenceworks didn't have negative reviews. Their average rating was 4.9 on Google and Yelp. Frank Guest came to survey my job. He gave me a fair estimate for a fence and told me I would be put in the schedule and it would take 8 weeks for his crew to come out. I chose a very high quality custom build fence. I watched his guys build my fence. Workmanship and the wood used is excellent. There is a glitch because the crew boss and I had a miscommunication on the issue of the gate opening into the brick pad inside the garden or opening out and therefore hiding the base of brick pad. I contacted Frank and he responded immediately. I am on the repair list and they will come back to rebuild that section of the gate. I am very pleased with this response. I chose an expensive fence/gate and they are gonna make it right. I do not mind waiting because the workmanship is excellent. I owned a hotel for 25 years and I supervised the maintenance and all renovation projects, of which there were many. When you hire someone for a project their integrity is part of the job and so far my experience with Precision Fenceworks supports that. I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks to get the repair done because I need to have the same crew. They work on a schedule. I wouldn't want someone to walk off my job without finishing it so I will wait my turn. I actually consider that organization to be a plus because this is a business and to do consistent quality work you have to be organized and thoughtful about how you treat your employees and your customers.

He finally showed for 2 hours and then again, never came back. He has every excuse under the sun on why he could never show up. I finally fired him and hired another company and they did the job in 3 days. Paid him $4400 and he has yet to return my money, so will have to pursue legal action. Never hire this guy, ever!

Over 1yr later, and we're still only 3/4 of the way done, and 40% over budget. Tom & team have disappeared for weeks on end, with no notice, usually returning to work for a day or two, when he wanted to get paid. Even when the team did show up, it was usually past noon - sometimes as late as 4pm. Over the last year, Tom's equipment has broken down several times, and he got his excavator stuck 8 or 9 times - one time requiring a professional wrecker to come out and extract 3 pieces of heavy equipment he got stuck. On a couple of occasions, to keep the project moving I personally rented equipment. All the more insulting ... the team constantly left tools & trash scattered across the property. I had burger wrappers, bottles, and all sorts of other trash everywhere. Over the last 3 months, Tom has apologized for not taking the job seriously; promised to show up the following week and then completely no shows without giving any indication of why...and he's done this 6 times. I've heard from 2 different people he's sub-contracted with, as well as a couple of people on his team, that getting paid by Tom was an absolute nightmare. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and not surprisingly, it went un answered.

Nick & Zachary not only coordinated with my friends, the owners of the home, but were *extremely* kind in coordinating with me. They let me know in advance which days would involve a lot of noise so I could make plans to be away. They were always polite & fun to chat with when, for example, my car needed to be moved to make way for a lumber delivery. During this project the remnants of hurricane Michael passed over Athens causing larger than normal rainfall. Nick & Zachary did extra work to make sure the drainage would be installed before the storm hit. Their drainage worked wonderfully, filling the retaining pond to the brim. They also assisted me with filling sandbags to make sure a separate area of the house would be protected in case the rainfall was excessive. Needless to say, I was *very* impressed with their conscientiousness! Home projects can be so stressful. You won't find nicer or more capable landscapers to help you through your project!

Either they never got back to us, wanted to sell us a big, expensive "plan," or had never heard of our neighborhood, blah blah blah. For this reason, I kept branching out beyond our area on various sites until I found myself searching in Athens. That's how we found Patrick and City Garden Company. We could tell right away he knew what we wanted, knew how to construct it, and had great ideas. He listened to our vision, which was fairly simple--a large, gravel patio, stepping stones, and sod. He came up with the idea of using dry-stacked stone as the border, and we couldn't be happier. I asked him if it would fall over eventually, and he said "not if I build it." I believe it, too--it's classy, sturdy, and coordinates with our stepping stones and the stone on the front of our house. He and his team were very precise, and measured everything out so that it's even, with nice clean lines. A very professional job. We really do love it, and stand in the window and stare at it because our yard is transformed. We are thrilled we found this company! They actually follow up, call you back, answer your emails, etc., which is kind of a rarity in the home improvement businesses, I'm afraid. I can't wait to recommend them to friends.
