Cherry can sometimes come off a little artificial tasting in dishes, but these kolaches were fresh and the perfect blend of sweet without overdoing it. Of the four flavors the cream cheese and pineapple were my favorite two, but the real winner was the dough - supportive and well formed without being dry. We got there around 3 o'clock in the afternoon so several of their baked goods were already out of stock. Their cupcakes and cookies are unbelievably fantastic. You can call in and have them make cakes to go or just grab some cupcakes while you're there. Their strawberry cupcake was dense and rich and quite literally the best I've ever had. The quality of their cakes definitely exceed anything you would ever find at a major store front. They might be a little pricey but the quality lives up to the price. This little bake shop is definitely a great asset to Main Street.

The short is the sourdough bread was just okay. I find almost all sourdough bread in TX seems to be undercooked and I'm not sure why. And all the sourdough I have experienced in TX has a different flavor than traditional sourdough bread. It also seems quite heavier than a traditional sourdough. I did ask for it be sliced but the slices were incredibly thick. Easily twice the width of a normal slice of bread. Given the heaviness of this bread and seemingly undercooked that thickness is not ideal. I have certainly had thick sourdough slices before, but those were traditional, cooked and lighter. Maybe the person could have changed the thickness but it wasn't offered. Lastly, when checking out... I was charged 3% for using a credit card. I was informed beforehand and it is displayed... but this doesn't make it okay. As a business owner myself, I know I can deduct bank charges for using a credit card. So, you are charging me 3% and you are taking a deduction from taxes. But to top it off... after charging me 3% more... the server wanted me to provide a tip! Oh, sorry... she just said "the screen is going to ask you a question". What question? Why don't you just come right out and say "I want a tip"? But tip for what? And it's $11 for a loaf of bread.
