Our family has been with Pacific Dance for the past 12 years. In the decade that we have been with this amazing studio, we have always had such a wonderful experience as both a rec and a competition family. We have participated in 11 recitals and in recent years, numerous competitions. In my experience they are all run like a well-oiled machine. They have rules and processes in place primarily to keep our children safe and to ensure everything runs smoothly and to create a great experience for the hundreds (thousands?) of students and parents. If you have common sense and are a decent person, it's not hard to understand why the studio runs things the way they do. ALL of the staff and teachers are exceptional and I love having the peace of mind that my children are receiving excellent training in a loving, safe and positive environment. On one occasion, the owner spoke with the teacher for over 10 minutes while the children were left waiting. When I pointed out that 15 minutes of class time had already passed, she responded that she was the owner and was discussing competition-related matters for another class. Those discussions could have taken place outside of class time, rather than at the expense of my children's paid lesson. She then suggested that we request a free class voucher. However, the issue is not about receiving another class--we attend at the scheduled time because that is when we are available. Scheduling an additional makeup class does not truly compensate for the lost time and requires us to make an extra trip, which is inconvenient and unnecessary.

They mentioned a lack of refunds or makeups without doctor's notes, but then when I mentioned this causing sickness spreading in class they said they just need to know in advance. I'm not sure why they would flip on this unless they were just trying to keep my money. Quite unethical.

Like all of you, I was new to acting at some point. With me, it came later in life. So I decided to give this studio a shot being so close to me and not having to drive to LA more than I was already doing for other classes and auditions. What I found was a very friendly and knowledgeable staff with everything you could ask for in an acting school. Although still relatively new to acting, in my short 18 months I've landed a highly reputable talent agent, was the principal role in 2 national commercials, and was cast as a supporting role in an upcoming feature film by a major studio. I'm currently going on network auditions 2-3 times a month and have built a rather impressive resume thus far. All of this is because of the core basics I have learned at ASOOC. Without my acting technique, I would not be where I'm at today with so much more to learn and show. I have seen quite a range of productions here from light hearted fun "The Drowsy Chaperone" a parody of Jazz era story lines and most recently Alchemy Theater's (http://www.yelp.com/biz/alchemy-theater-company-santa-ana?hrid=2B1d6I3qyYVN8nhkbWS1Sg) Gertrude Stein production. The theater is quite small and the seating is not highly raked. It almost has a caberet, connect with your fellow audience members, feel to it. Wonderful addition to Orange County's vibrant Live Theater scene. We saw a Sunday afternoon production of the Gertrude Stein work, leaving at about 4PM. Almost all the places to eat were closed or only serving drinks and macaroni and cheese for the next hour. Not the theater's fault, by all means. Just, t'would be nice if the restaurants were aware of the gem next door and feeding the theater patrons. *Wistful sigh* A YELPer can dream, can't she?
