During my first experience, the (no longer available) technician was attentive, however it got real awkward when a verbal fight broke out between her and the manager. Shouting, clapping-in-faces, cursing, the whole shabang. My second experience wasn't as exciting, however still not good. I asked for a fill and the technician caked on the gel builder like it was nobody's business. I used to do gel builder for years (not Apres gel-X) and know what a good set and fill look like, respectively. This was far from it. Super bulky and thick. I thought she was going to file down the thickness but didn't. I was trusting the process and it failed me here. Mind you, I was going to the person that seemed the most experienced or amongst the top, from other yelp reviews. My third experience was meant to be the final attempt. This time, the manager took care of me because I was a walk-in. Clearly he didn't care about the quality of the Gel-X removal. He place the acetone foils on my fingers and walked away, which fine, I didn't feel like talking either, but when he returned, roughly scraped the softened gel, barely filed my nails, and cashed me out (I guess now is as good a time as ever to mention that the removal price he charged me was more than the price I was given over the phone by a woman..hmm). There were many nails that were uneven due to hard gel product that wasn't attended to. I ended up having to file them (the tops of my nails *and* shaping) down myself afterwards. No, I did not want a manicure after removal and filing is not a "manicure" service. Filing is basic nail health prior to getting into manicure territory of conditioning and treating the nails, then adding polish clear/color. He picked and chose which nails to touch with the nail file, which I found odd. Thankfully I wasn't wearing clothing that could easily snag, if you catch my drift... My third appointment was really out of desperation. I needed a new set FAST and they were the closest salon to me that had availability. I met with __(don't want to get her in trouble)___ and she immediately asked me who removed the gel before because it was done so poorly. I told her it was her manager and that made things a little awkward. She removed the rest of the gel that I didn't file off because I was concerned for damaging my nails and then got started on the new set. She applied gel-nails that were too small, so it misshaped my nails (I learned this from my new nail tech at a different salon). Important to note that it didn't hurt, I probably wouldn't have noticed, but it is important for the technician to handle your nails carefully for risk of longer-term damage. She then applied wayyy too much clear gel bond. It was globbing out the side and well into the tip, past my natural nail. She didn't clean this before curing and I unfortunately realized after the fact. After that, she painted them, again globbing the polish on. The end result was a lumpy and THICK coat. If you looked at the nails head on, they looked bulbous with product and with weird hills and valleys on them. When I got home, I had to file the excess product from the sides and attempt underneath, as best I could. Literal chunks of gel-bonder were flinging off my nails. Not the vibe, not what I want to spend my money on, and moving on. Overall, I really wanted to like this place. I mean, I gave them four chances :\ it's clean though! And they have good massage chairs.

One suggestion: instead of having the TV stuck on an advertisement channel selling smiles and pain relief products, it might be more enjoyable to have a Netflix show on repeat or some music playing. You've got teenagers working here, so I'm sure they could easily set that up. But really, it's just a small thing. The salon is family-owned and operated, so the atmosphere is more relaxed, as you'd expect. My mother and I came in without an appointment and were seated right away. The technicians took their time and did a thorough job. It was nice to feel relaxed and pampered. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area again.

This time around, I was cut pretty severely, my cuticle got sanded off by a spinning tool used carelessly. It was quite painful for several days. The lady who did it barely even mumbled an apology. I got painful and bizarre cuts on three of my fingers, underneath the fingernails, done by a cuticle trimmer tool which she used under the nail. Ugh. Never going back. I did not want gel but had to do gel because ALL of their regular nail polishes were old and separating. I had to tell the nail tech, Alexa, that the regular nail polish on my fingers didn't look good, a bunch of bubbles and lumps. She kept taking it off and reapplying. I had mentioned that I wanted a almond shape before we started but I guess she didn't hear me and filed one hand round, so I had to insist on getting the tips more square so my nails didn't look like bubbles. I'm not confrontational so I just brushed. My pedicure was a joke. Very fast and done poorly. My heels have a bunch of cracks, under my toenails which were not cleaned ( I asked when I realized she wasn't going to, but she only barely cleaned under my big toes). I was irritated when I left, no help putting on my shoes. The whole experience felt uncomfortable by that point and I wanted to leave. Look for yourself at this pedicure with the pictures. After realizing this I ended the service because they were too damaged even for an application of traditional nail polish. (I originally wanted gel polish.) after speaking with another nail tech at a different salon, they are saying I need to wait 6 months or more until I can get another pedicure, gel or otherwise. I strongly believe the nail tech I was assigned at Nails Lux is not licensed and she did not seem to have any regard for the damage that was done to my nails. I never do anything like this but I strongly feel I need to warn people about this salon.

The staff at the front desk asked if I wanted hard gel, and I said yes because I'd never heard of it before and assumed they were recommending the right service. How was I supposed to know the difference? When I questioned the service, Annie told me I was wrong because I hadn't explained what I wanted correctly--even though she wasn't at the front desk during the conversation. She then told me I should have come to her directly. That's not something you say to a customer, especially when I didn't even know who my nail technician would be. I also didn't appreciate her attitude. Within a week, my thumbnail chipped and broke off, and black marks started appearing under some of the white tips. I returned to have the issues fixed and asked to speak with a manager, but it felt like talking to a wall. Annie repaired the two damaged nails but then told me that hard gel "wasn't for me." My response was that the problem wasn't the service--it was the application. Shortly afterward, more nails started popping off. I ended up going to another nail salon, where I paid $5 to have the one nail repaired, and I also had to buy press-on nails to match. There were several friendly women at the desk and I asked about getting a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. I also wanted an extra coat for protection. They made a point to look at my nails first to check out what I had on. I was quoted $45 for the gel manicure, & $5 for the extra strengthening coat, plus $35 for a pedicure. I made an appointment and arrived on time a few hours later. They have numerous stations and the decor is very nice. All the technicians were wearing black. I was introduced to Jenny and told to choose a polish color. Jenny led me to her station so she could remove my previous gel polish. While the gel was soaking off, she moved me to a pedicure chair. There were big screen TVs around and she brought me a bottle of water. The water in the tub started out cold., but after it warmed up I received an amazing pedicure! The polish looked great and my feet and legs were rubbed with lotion and then wrapped in a warm towel . (The massage chair was nice too!) When I finished it was $80 as quoted and my fingers and toes look great! I think I may have found my new nail salon in Plantation!
