I took my son to get his hair he's 2 years old and sits perfectly fine. so we went in sat down and waited 1.5 hours as barbers finished cutting hair they would clean there station and leave the shop only to come back in 45 min later for there next appointment instead of taking us so I've come to realize you have to be of color to get any haircut here and since I'm not a "brotha" I'll take my money and go somewhere else plus I've got my hair cut there before. it's comparable to great clips just was going there cuz it was close to the house so I'll be traveling a little farther just to get better treatment and quality haircuts read more

Messed up my hair so bad and paid $50 for a bad haircut and the worst line up, never coming back here again.

I loved the shop as soon as I walked in. The 'aesthetics', as one of the owners said, were amazing! Every station had its' own vibe and the music was great! My barber listened to what I wanted in a cut and made adjustments to get what I was asking for even though I'm sure it wasn't his usual request. Because of poor planning on my part, I had to find a local barber shop that accepted same-day, walk-in customers/clients. After calling about 5-6 barber shops, Top Notch was the only shop accepting same-day, walk-in customers. Greeted at the door by Jennie (sp?), she attended to me with very little delay though the shop was full with customers. She did a great job and is quite a pleasant person, willing to start/hold a conversation. Though a bit pricey for a trim/clean-up, I definitely will recommend Top Notch. read more

Well, had AJ cut my hair and asked for a Howe Long Flat Top been a very long time since I had visited and now I know why. Nice barbershop but think AJ was in hurry to go to lunch. So didn't get flat top but a breaking bad cue ball cut, very round and the flat top was disregarded.So like many people, AJ forget to listen or maybe not a expert in different cuts. Still gave him a $10 tip for his lunch and maybe when he reads this will work on Flat top expertise not cueball cut!! If you go in make sure to convey with emphasis your style. I normally cut the Boys hair. Been doing that since they were babes. I do a great high and tight, zero fade. But they are in Highschool now and wanted a professional cut. I figured it was time to have there first Barber Shop experience. I learned quickly that there are very few barber shops open on a Sunday afternoon. It had the right feel. There was a little lounge place with couches, chairs and a large screen TV playing a Pro-football game. There were 3 guys cutting hair and a few guys waiting. It took about 20 minute for my first son got called to a chair. My son wanted a flat top. Before heading there, I looked up a few pics until my 14 year old chose the style. I showed the barber what we wanted and then waited. I didn't catch the first guys name, but Charles called up my other son. He wanted a come-over style and again I found a picture of what he wanted. The first guy had abit of Problem with execution of the Flattop. Both the other barbers help out and gave some pointers. Charles execute the combover perfectly. It looked exactly like the picture. The flattop looked good, but wasn't like the picture. Overall it was a good experience. Both boys looked good. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the prices. I don't know the average price of a haircut, so I'm not complaining, but $25 each boy was tough lol. I included a photo of the prices written on the board. Again, I don't know if this is a good price, but if it is, then go here and ask for Charles as he is professional. read more

I had went in to get a haircut September 15th, the female Gisella had messed my haircut up. One side was longer than the other by an inch, She also left a couple spots. It was the worst haircut I've gotten charged over price, then when I went in the next day September 16th I had been charged again to fix it which is not okay seeing as they had messed it up.. when I asked why they came up with a bs excuse rather than trying to say hey we messed up our bad. I've been taking my son to Derek for over a year now. He had a mohawk for several years, and finally decided to cut it off. At each visit, Derek takes his time and makes sure we are good with the cut before we leave. My son went in alone once and asked for a certain type of fade, which wasn't exactly what he wanted. We went back in and Derek cut it the way he normally cuts it....no questions asked. We live 40 miles away and I don't mind driving that far knowing my son's hair will look great. My son came in and got his hair done last week. The woman that did his hair messed messed up and miss a spot. When my son got home and noticed it he called the next day and they told him to come in and they would fix it. My son told him that he couldn't come in because he had to work and that he asked if he coming on Saturday. And the woman who cut his hair told him yes. Well when we get here today one of The barbers decided to go off on us for coming in to get his hair fixed because it's been over a week. The woman had no problem fixing his hair but apparently the gentleman next to her has a problem with him coming to get his hair fixed because it's been over a week. He paid over $60 for a haircut and for it to still not be right. The gentleman that cuts hair next to her was the one that was very improfessional at the way he came to us and talked to us no need to start yelling across the shop. Horrible customer service. First and foremost this review to the ROOKIE barber that messed up my haircut, I think his name was "GUS" and also the Shop itself...I came here because this place was highly recommended not only by Yelp! but by some of the locals here in Reno. This barbershop needs some TLC like ASAP! The place looks a bit dirty and it definitely needs new furniture while the customers wait for their haircut. Also the music that some of your barbers play is not appropriate for children under 12yrs old, no kid should be hearing nothing about bitches and hoes or the use of explicit songs while they wait with their parents. Management should definitely be on top of this issue and correct it. As for the ROOKIE barber the cut my hair, my dude you should definitely get some barber classes before you keep cutting hair because you don't know how to even grab the dam scissors nor your capable of doing a simple fade not to mention you don't even know the difference between a low or medium fade. I asked for a simple hair cut ((medium fade, #1 on the sides and cut 1 inch from the top with scissors)) simplest mens haircut and you still f*ck it up!. I literally had to go back home and cut my hair by myself because you totally messed it up. I usually give a chance to Rookies to try them out but in this case I regret it because you kept asking me if that's the way I wanted my haircut. If I would of known that you couldn't cut my hair I would of gone somewhere else where they do know how to cut a simple haircut. I was passing through Nevada, in need of a haircut so decided to stop by. Saw the reviews, saw the pictures. I figured, the haircut would at least be presentable. I wasn't looking for perfection, just a decent cut. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. I was cut by the barber Gus. The only reason I knew his name was because of his name tag. Sadly, the gentleman didn't welcome me, didn't introduce himself or ask for my name, nor did he talk to me at all. Dead silence! If you look in the picture, you see that the blend was off. Multiple lines that needed to be blended, hair on top was cut uneven and there were a lot of hairs sticking out where it shouldn't be. Also, he messed up my hard-part for the comb over. My brother was with me at the time, and as Gus was finishing up, my brother asked if he could fix a few things. Gus abruptly cuts him off and tells him to chill. I'm not here to bash the guy nor say he shouldn't be cutting. But he should really work on Bettering his technique. He should work on at least having basic conversation with his costumers as well as take criticism. As a barber, your goal should be to make a customer not make a dollar. read more

Called on a Tuesday and asked for the next available noon haircut during my lunch break. The guy told me to come in at noon on Wednesday and ask for Derek. Came in at noon and Derek asked me to have a seat because he was finishing up with someone. At 12:15 he called someone else that was there before me waiting to see him too. By 12:30 having to be back at work by 12:45 I left because he was still working on the other guy. Not sure why we had a noon appointment if he couldn't see me at noon and never mentioned while I was there for 30 minutes waiting that he was behind. Only one star because while they did provide a service, it was a very mediocre haircut, but at a very high price I have been getting haircuts for for nearly 70 years, at least the last 10 years in Reno/Sparks, with an occasional haircut out of town while traveling. I have never been ripped off at a barber shop until this one. No neck shave, no hot towel head massage, nothing special, just a plain haircut and not very good one at that. No prices posted but I figured it wouldn't be more than $20 considering the location, the shop amenities, and the clientele. I was shocked to be scammed with a $30 charge, especially for $15 haircut. As first impressions count; this place does not have it starting with its store front all the way till you sit on the seat and get draped with a drape cloth that has not be washed since who knows when. As I walked in I'm greeted by nothing but a stare down as I was some kind of stranger then I take a seat no, "are you here for a hair cut" nor time est. just a awkward feeling. As who ever has gone to a barber school carpet is not a great selection for your floor since hair will stick to it, as is the case with this place clumps of hair, and room adjacent to front door looks like a tornado went off as well as the back portion of the place. Makes me wonder if they can't keep the hygiene part on the carpet what makes me think of there tools and not to forget blades.
