My husband has gotten a few haircuts here. Nothing great, but he doesn't care about his hair and this spot is close to our house, so it's convenient enough. Today, he had a different stylist and was told at the end of the cut that they take cash only. He's always paid with a card. So incredibly sketchy- we do not carry or deal with cash at all, ever. So he had to call me to ask me to bring him cash? Alternatively, he has to drive home, look for a debit card we never use, drive to the bank, get cash, and drive back to this barber to pay for a trim? This is incredibly unprofessional and I cannot believe that anyone running any kind of business like this would only have the ability to take cash- with no notice to their customers on top of that. Our son gets better cuts at great clips and they don't change their accepted payment methods. read more

I gave these folks five stars for a simple reason: I have been going here for 16 years and never gone anywhere else during that time. You need to call for an appointment, which are scheduled about 30 minutes apart. They are open Tuesday through Saturday each week. I scheduled an appointment as a first time client a little over a week ago. Today, I arrived on time to my 10am appointment. I was unsure of who my barber would be but the barber closest to the entrance told me I was with Nick. I wasn't sure which barber was Nick and each barber in the shop was busy with their client so I figured to just wait till someone finished. My thinking was, my appointment time has started so whoever Nick is should be done with his client soon and I'd be next. I ended up sitting for fifteen minutes and decided to just leave. I'll find a different local barber. This place felt uninviting and I'm honestly surprised to have just sat there for fifteen minutes with no questions from any of the barbers. And whoever was my barber should have at least told me how long till he was ready. read more

First, it's worth mentioning that I'm a barber kinda guy, not one for a salon. This is a bit of a hybrid here as it's not exactly equipped with a spinning striped pole out front, that said the guys do a great job! Scott, Ken, and Mark are a few really good guys and they keep it real here. They each maintain a splash of themselves in their booths and conversation is plentiful and equally real. Noteworthy items for patroning here: there are just the three of them and just their three chairs. They have their regulars and stay busy, so while appointments aren't a must, you may be hard pressed to get in otherwise. Aside from that you could do far worse finding a barber in Reno and of course speaking for myself, I enjoy their company, though it's brief, each month (it should probably be more frequent ). read more

A throwback to the barbershops of yesteryear. (Which is all good in the sea of Supercuts, Great Clips, and the like) It really reminds me of some of the places I've gone in NYC and Oakland. A cash only mens' affair where an appointment is required to ensure you can get in. Since day one, I've always gone to Scott and he does a good job taming the mess when it gets too long. I absolutely love going to the Gentlemen's Barber Shop. I get my haircut by Mark (middle barber) and have NEVER once had a bad haircut. The other barber (Scotty) is also absolutely phenomenal. It's a cozy and enjoyable place to get one's haircut and they cut women's hair as well. The shop is clean and tidy and couldn't ask to have your hair cut by friendlier folks in Nevada. So I just got the best cut from Nick the barber knew exactly what I wanted and my taper was perfect. The shop is clean and gives off a very calming demeanor not to much talking or loud music all the barbers are excellent and polite . Great prices no 35 for a cut then tip 18 and I tip 7 25 total . Great barbershop. Pretty picky with who cuts my hair and has had it messed up by many different people over the years. Recently moving to Reno it made it tough to make it to Carson and see my barber there so I checked out this place a few months ago. I have been seeing Mark here every 4-5 weeks now and will keep going to him since he does a great job. Traditional barber shop feel for the guys and a great place to get a good cut. This is one of those old-school establishments where you feel free to talk about whatever is on your mind, be it religion and politics, or bullshit at home from your wife and family. Its run by 3 master barbers. Ken, who is the oldest guy working there, has never fallen short of giving me a clean, professional haircut. Definitely recommend this place for any gentleman. New to the Reno area, I walked in and was completely ignored by the three barbers present. No hi, no good morning, nothing. I sat for about 15 minutes watching more chit chat with the guys in the chairs than hair cutting. Disgusted, I left without a word spoken by them or me. I can't comment on their ability to cut hair as I never got that far. The first time I tried to visit, they had closed earlier than the advertised hours. The next time I went by, it took them several minutes to acknowledge me and then very matter-of-factly told me that they were booked for the day, sorry. I moved from the east coast and have never been to a real barber shop that was appointment only. Considering both Barbers were almost done and the waiting room was empty, you would think one of them could fit in a walk in. Seems to be more of a men's salon. If you want a haircut, make an appointment. Also, don't count of their posted hours. I would give one star but I would imagine once you get a haircut it may be okay. Who knows... read more

This is a great barber shop. Ken "The Trout Man" did a great job with my hair every time. Cuts are $18, which is not bad. The banter is heavy on sports, so if you are a sports fan then this is your place. Each barber even has his own TV, which is usually tuned to ESPN. So why not 5-stars? Well, I stopped going because you absolutely must get an appointment, and sometimes they are not easy to get. I made the mistake of walking in without an appointment once and was almost laughed out of the shop. I guess this is a great sign of a successful barber shop if you are booked solid all the time, but Ken started taking more days off and it seemed to be hard to even book an appointment. I probably should have switched to one of the other guys, but you know how it looks when a barber sees you switch to another guy in the same shop. It's like dumping your girlfriend for her sister. Anyway, I haven't found a decent alternative yet, so I may end up back here. Honestly, I'm not that huge of a sports fan and I feel a little intimidated when I walk into this shop, but I think I put on a good show. Ken is definitely a talker, by the way. This isn't really a shop that you can just sit down and grumble a few commands and then sit in silence, so expect to be engaged in a conversation. read more
