Ryan is the best barber ever. He's even a Giants fan so when I visit his shop to get a cut, we are able to wallow in sadness together.

Ryan is carrying on the family legacy at Paradise Park Barber Shop. It's an older place that's been in the family since the 60s, and he spoke about looking to fix it up soon so it looked nicer while keeping its original heritage that his regulars have come to expect. Definitely make an appointment, as he had a line before and after me of folks waiting to see him. He greeted everyone that walked in by name, and you could tell the folks had been coming to see him for a long time. He was a nice guy and takes his time, though you hardly notice the time pass -- he was done with my cut before I knew it. I walked out with a great cut, and I'll definitely be back. One thing I learned was to make sure to bring cash! Luckily, I had some in the car but keeping to its old school roots, it's a cash only business. read more

After moving to Reno from the Midwest, I took longer than I wanted to find a barber that I like. Now, I will admit that I am pretty particular. Scratch that...very particular but I know what I like. Typically, I search for "barbers". Licensed barbers. Not hairdresser, stylists etc. I went to a few and was not pleased. A bad haircut is the worst and if you are like me, my hair is kinds of what defines my look. Anyways, I was at a small festival in downtown Reno last August and saw a guy wandering around with a very nice haircut. Clearly, his barber knew what he was doing. So, I went up to him, complimented his cut and let him know I recognize a good cut when I see one. He told me that he goes to Paradise Park barbershop in Sparks and while all the barbers do a good job, he suggested that Ryan was his personal favorite. Following his suggestion, I walked in to get a cut. Unfortunately, even though the website does say that they accept walk ins, they prefer to have set appointments. Ryan was very nice and fit me in. He asked me in the future if I would schedule an appointment. I prefer walking in to a barber shop and getting my haircut when I have the time and need a cut but I understand that not all barbers function this way. So, I obliged. I've been very pleased ever since and Ryan's haircuts are done with attention to detail and precision. He makes me look good each time. I can give him my highest recommendation. read more

Paradise BARBER Shop is an old-school barber shop. It's been here 40-plus years. Starting with the old-school spinning barber pole sign in front of the business, down to the old barber chairs, this place exudes experience. I've been going here for 10 years or more. After Covid restrictions, they went to an appointment-only schedule, which is much better than showing up and taking your chances. As this place was always full. You start in the chair like in many other places to get a haircut. What makes this place special is the barbers. They are meticulous in the art of hair cutting. The same barbers have been here since I started going. They know from previous cuts what you like. At the end of the haircut, the barber applies shaving cream around your ears, then uses a straight razor get it high and tight. Then a splash of tonic and your on your way. Kevin, who is my barber in the #1 chair is a beard aficionado, so when I started growing a beard a year ago, he keeps it shaped and trimmed. Always happy to leave a good tip for the extras. Came to Reno back in July for a quick getaway and was in dire need of a haircut because every barber shop in Cali was closed down cause of COVID. The online appointment reservation process was seamless and easy. I made an appointment for the same day and Ryan was able to line me up. Prices are much more reasonable than the Bay but that's to be expected. Good old fashioned family owned barber shop vibes where any topic could be expressed and talked about. 17 loyal years! Thank you Ryan for hooking up my boys every two weeks! My siblings also come here for their haircuts and have been for many many years. Never been elsewhere and won't be anytime soon. My son had his very first cut here by Ryan and now at 11 he is still cutting my sons hair every 2 weeks. Staying faded, always! My son has been eating the legendary Tootsie rolls since he was a baby waiting for his dad to get his cut. We love their online appointment scheduling, quick and easy! I've been going to this Barber shop for the last 50 years. They know how to cut your hair! At one point Don had all three of his sons working at the same time, he retired and his sons are still cutting hair in the same shop. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a great haircut! What a joke. Called on a Saturday morning to see what their wait time was. Was told that they were by appointment only, but if we got there soon, we could get right in. Drove there in less than 10 minutes. As two of the barbers were sitting in their own chairs, was told again that they were appointment only. But if we wanted to wait, they could maybe get us in. Reminded them that I was only there because THEY told me to come down. Was then told sarcastically "good luck finding anyone else on a Saturday" and laughed at as we walked out. Brought my military veteran and retired law enforcement father with me because we heard they were good. Fat chance. These guys were rude and completely unprofessional. ZERO, BETTER YET, MINUS 5 STARS! YUCK!!!!!! I sent my husband in to get a haircut and he came back looking like a goofed up, total dork, worse than before he went in there. Ha freaking Ha! I thought this was some kind of joke! I had been looking through various sites, searching for the right Barber for him. I failed when I chose this place, FOR SURE! Even I could have done a much better job and I'm not even a hairdresser/barber. I was in shock when he came home, it looked like his hair got caught in a wood chipper or worse. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. They give great hair cuts plus the barbers are usually cool & very talkative. With that said. I am almost to the point of being done with this place. My first haircut was here & I have been a customer for over 25 years. But their business practices have gotten me to the point of going somewhere else. I mean my first hair cut; every hair cut before a job interview or prom. Every hair cut before I had to report back to my unit. I have been a long & faithful customer. But here are the issues I have: -bad hours. They're not open Sunday or Monday. And they stay open till 5:30. This gives me 30 minutes to rush down from work to get a hair cut right before they have closed. I have tried all week to get there but they close up shop before I can get there. Stay open till at least 6. -No credit/debt card accepted. I mean I see the barbers on their smart phones & you can't use square? -nudie magazines. Do what you want in your free time. But it's wrong to be having some 50 year old guy drooling over a playboy while there are kids around. I know they place them backwards so you can't read the spine but still? Can't wait an hour without looking at girls young enough to be your daughter? Oh let me guess you read it for the articles. -no website & they rarely answer the phone. As I said they give great hair cuts & I love all the hunting stuff. But your hours & practices are really challenging my loyalty read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolute worst haircut I have ever received in my life. Wanted to give this place a try since it's cheap but do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I was just getting a simple haircut, number 2 fade on the sides and back, take a little bit off the top. They took way too much off the top and the front ended up crooked, the fade wasn't even and was different on both sides, and they even somehow cut a bald spot into the back of my head. Also, the scissors, electric razor and straight razor they used all felt dull and pulled my hair during the cut. Awful and I don't know how they're still in business. read more

I had the older gentlemen cut my hair, I even gave him a photo of what my previous haircut looked like to go off of and he completely ruined it. This is probably one of the oldest barbershops in town and for a good reason. You don't find a million reviews for this place because most of the patrons are older and don't use Yelp. I fortunately had the opportunity to come here since I was a kid when my dad brought me here. Unfortunately I don't live in this area of town no more but once in a while I come in for a good haircut. There's a mix of barbers here. Not sure if the owner has retired yet but his son runs the place occasionally from time to time. Even though I only stop by during a blue moon, they still remember me. That's cool. That's service and personality, to know your customers like that even when they don't frequent as much. I usually get my cut from the son or the younger guys since I go with young and fresh faded looks. This place is a true traditional Barber shop! Been here for many years family owned and outstanding service! It's hard finding a spot like this around reno/sparks area. Fades are fairly priced for the cleaness cut around town. I've had 3 different barbers at this location cut my hair all experienced for many years and all leaving me with a fresh zero fade. I will always come here to get cleaned up. They also get an old school razor cut all around the sides and back of the hair line. Friendly, respectful, and clean shop.
