For the past two years we hired Top Notch Events to cater our company picnic of 150 people. They did an outstanding job! We had the All American BBQ complete with ice cream for dessert. The food was fresh and delicious. The children and adults were very entertained with lots of games and prizes for a full four hours. They played balloon toss, sack races and numerous other games. Never a dull moment! I would recommend Top Notch Events for any of your party needs. They are a family owned and run business that goes above any beyond to make sure you are happy with their service. I wanted to use top notch for our company picnic, gave them a deposit and booked the date, unfortunately our employees were not all about having Picnic. I called Brain a month ahead to cancel and get my deposit refunded. He let me know they don't refund deposits. WHAT????????? couldn't believe it , every business that I have hired to have events for the last 7 years if there was a problem and I needed to cancel refunded my deposit. I said I was a real estate agent and contracts get canceled all the time and it's illegal to keep the Buyers deposit. Yeah ,,,,,he didn't care. He didn't have any suggestions except give him more money and have the event even though no one wanted to come. I told him that I would never use him and I would be sure and let everyone I know not to use him. News Flash Brian.... Attended a Top Notch picnic a couple weeks ago in OC. The staff was friendly, the tri-tip was awesome, and the MC kept us entertained throughout the afternoon. These guys definitely know how to put on a fun, family-oriented picnic event! read more

They hosted our company's picnic last year. Food was great and all the staff was super friendly and helpful. DJ did a great job of trying to keep everyone entertained and involved. I wanted to write as I attended our work's company party & it was a BLAST!! They had a western theme, so there were lots of games geared towards the kids & the adults. It didn't even feel like a park as it had been transformed & I REALLY enjoyed the food, which there was plenty of. As a matter of fact, I think I had seconds if not, nibbled on alot of the goodies throughout the day. My daughter especially like the bounce house & my older boy loved the water slides!! The DJ seemed to get everyone involved, both young & old & it was great to see my bosses making fools out of themselves with us. I'm from the Las Vegas area and was attending a party in California for one of our vendors. Top notch was the event company putting on the event and let me tell you it was a great time. The owner was hands on and made sure everything was happening on scheduled and that everyone was having a great time. The food and entertainment was amazing...... I tried to get the owner Brian to agree to come to Vegas for our company but they don't travel outside of So. Cal. at this time. Long story short this was a great time and I was impressed by the hands on passion for creating a great time for everyone. I would Highly recommend this company! read more

UPDATE, 5-20-12: I received an email from the owner, Brian, asking me to remove my review. I said that I am now hearing back from him AFTER I wrote my review and so I stand by it and will NOT be deleting it. Mind you I first emailed this business several times a YEAR ago, then again a few months ago. Here is his unprofessional response: ""Ok, so with that being said, because I tried to reach you numerous times through the phone number that is listed for your notary service I guess we should give you the same type of "HORRIBLE" rating? Sound fair? I do not believe you can feel this is just...and I really don't believe you ever left messages for us once much less 3 times! I believe you are either aligned with one of our competitors or just an envious person in general with too much time on your hands! Even if what you were saying was true and we did not return your calls do you think if you left a message at a toy store for auto parts they would return you calls or just think your crazy?"" ** Note to readers ** He never called me. And now if he does I will not be answering! Also, in order for him to research my name and find out what I do he would have to know my last name, which means he DID receive my messages!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing "top notch" about this company. About a year ago, I gave them a call after call, email after email and no response. At first, I thought the company went out business. Then, I recently found out they are still attempting at their so called top notch picnic planning. I sent them another email. Mind you this was almost a year later after my first email, and still no answer. According to their page, they have been in business since 1996, so it's not a new business and they should know better. I'm glad they never answered my emails or phone calls. I would've been horrified to give my money to this type of service by people who clearly are unable to deliver. Be careful with this business before investing any money. I joined my company's picnic committee after the initial venue, date and vendor had been chosen. I was looking forward to helping plan a great event at the beach in collaboration with Top Notch. We were given options for a theme. When we chose a theme, we were told the one we chose was no longer available. We could choose the alternate option at an additional cost. We also hit a snag in our plans when it was announced that a major freeway would be closed the same weekend we planned to have the picnic. Not a fault of ours and certainly not the fault of the vendor. However, for a company whose motto suggests working with you to make your dream a reality, they fell short. The email correspondence we received when trying to find a different date was short and had curt undertones. There seemed to be no interest in trying to work with this unfortunate change of events. We tried to see about using them at a different venue. That didn't work out either. During a phone conversation, we were told that July and August are the busiest months and that they have had to turn people away. When asked if they could contact those people to take our date from us so we could move forward elsewhere, there were more abrupt responses. I understand that our company signed a contract. However, we did not plan for a major freeway closure and it seemed that we were doing most of the work to try to adjust ourselves to fit the Top Notch's needs. I'm actually glad that they didn't adhere to our request to put our deposit towards next year. It was an expensive lesson learned, but I know not to attempt having a business relationship with this vendor, as I have no desire to relive this nightmare. Overall, I would say this company does nothing to hold up to their name. read more

I went to an event and the BBQ was one of the best I've ever had. There Tri-Tip, beans, and garlic bread was so amazing and flavorful! The staff was so friendly and helpful. I didn't think I would have such a great time at a company picnic. But it was definitely super fun and memorable! read more

Just wanted to say thanks again to Top Notch Events for an amazing school carnival! We have used Top Notch several times over the past few years for our elementary school in Chino and love the great service they have provided us. Brian, Tami and Kathy have answered every question I have had in a timely manner and the team they send out to our events has always been wonderful! Thanks again to Tara for always leading a great team of clean cut smiling professionals. I never have to worry about clean up either when they are done. The school lawn always looks like they have never even been there! If it weren't for the giant smiles on the kids (and parents) faces I would not know for sure. Great job as usual. Everything about our "Pirate Theme Picnic" at the beach was going great - right up until the City of LA decided to close the 405 Highway on the weekend of our event! We were so certain that Top Notch Events would be understanding. This was totally out of anyone's control Our company couldn't spend thousands on a picnic and risk no one showing up, due to the constant public announcements to stay off the roads that weekend. Unfortunately, Top Notch didn't see it that way. Although we offered to let them keep our over $4,000 deposit until next year, and book us a date for next summer NOW, they refused to cooperate. We lost our deposit, and had an absolute wonderful picnic at Calamigos Ranch in the Malibu hills. We'd hesitate to try to do business with them again. read more
