You can still park in that pay lot nearby, but I think they did away with indoor parking because I saw a private parking sign in the Washington Square garage. On the plus side, their donuts still rock. This time I got the raspberry bismark and the apple fritter. I have no qualms about saving the fritter for the morning as I know it is good. As for the bismark, I have got to say it is amazing. It is really a jelly doughnut with a fancier sounding title. There was a good dollop of sweet jelly and it was not overly sweet which is great. You know that you have hit sweet overkill when your teeth start to hurt. No such issue here. Also picked up some gift cards here which are great since they are reloadable and you can choose the denomination you want. Service here is friendly and the interior is still cozy. Can't get wrong with donuts on a Sunday ! My kids loves this place so we come here when we can. They have a large variety but you need to get there early if you want your favorite donut. I got there late afternoon and they still had sufficient flavors available. They weren't busy and had one person serving and when you get caught behind someone who is undecided you could be waiting longer! Finally a second server came to the rescue. Met here with a local Postcrossing group to sign cards for the holidays and participate in a postcard swap. Seating was comfortable and we were able to pull tables together to fit our group of twelve. We had to ask for one of the tables to be cleaned because the previous occupant's children left a sticky mess. We ended up having to wipe the table down again because the employee left the surface far too wet. I had part of an apple fritter which was good, nicely crisp and full of cinnamon. One of my companions enjoyed a hot chocolate with some glazed doughnuts and another one got a coffee drink which they also enjoyed. When I learned they had Top Pot postcards at the front register, I walked up to the counter to pick up a couple. I was thumbing through the stacks and took a couple of each variety. One of our group said when she had done the same, the guy told her "not to take them all" which I felt was a little presumptive considering she was also only looking through them. I've walked by this place a thousand times and today was the day to go in! The inside overall is clean and modern, with very friendly and fast service. This was a Sunday morning and there was a large selection of donuts in the case, from fritters, custard filled, raspberry jam filled, to regular chocolate donuts, to maple bars. I ordered a Bavarian creme filled donut and a blueberry fritter (don't judge me, I worked out before this :)). Both were super fresh and delicious! Also, ordered my go to hazelnut late with oat milk and to my surprise, it was amazing! Coffee tasted bold and delicious, perfectly blended with the oat milk which is actually hard to find. Maybe the Bay Area is deprived of good donuts, but I've never not been happy from a trip to Top Pot! The staff is always wonderful and the space and atmosphere of this particular location is lovely. Their coffee isn't my favorite but I love their apple fritter and their glazed old fashion donuts (during the holidays they offer this in pumpkin which is super moist and tasty!). Top Pot donuts are the best!! This location is spacious with a lot of seating for meeting friends, reading the paper or enjoying your donut. Top Pot has a great selection of donuts and it changes often. They keep the fan favorites but usually have a seasonal selection. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the options, so if it's your first visit try the classic old fashioned! Or, get two. Nothing wrong with that. They have a full espresso bar. I usually get an Americano or something more bitter to pair with the sugary donut. Make sure to pick up their punch card for a coffee reward after 10 punches. read more

I'm not from Seattle, but even on my first visit I could tell that this coffee and donut shop on the Northeast corner of NE 9th St. and 108th Ave NE is quite the community gathering place. They advertise that they make hand forged doughnuts; I don't know what that means, but all the donuts I tried were fabulous so maybe it does make a difference. There is an entire wall of bookshelves filled with books along the back wall. Most of the people hanging out here were talking with friends or working on their computers, but I was dreaming about curling up with one of their books. Unfortunately for me I was here on a working weekend and had to grab my donut and coffee and get back quickly. Nonetheless, I managed to stay long enough to feel a certain sense of community surrounded by conversations of others like little windows into people's lives. I won't repeat any of them as I think I owe them a wee bit of privacy, but it created a warm atmosphere. On my first visit, I ordered an English Toffee Latte and a chocolate sandcastle donut. The coffee was an excellent quality and even had a little heart pattern on top made of the coffee and steamed milk. My latte loves me a lot :). The chocolate sandcastle donut was easily the best donut I've ever had in my life. It was dense and chocolatey yet still amazing. And I have a thing about donuts. I even have a whole Yelp list dedicated to donuts so I think I know what I am talking about. On my next visit I believe I had a salted caramel donut which was also amazing. On my last morning in Seattle I picked up a piece of their harvest bread to eat on the plane that was beyond amazing. Seriously, If I lived anywhere near this place I'd be here every day. The prices for the standard donuts are reasonable. The price on the premium donuts is high, but I promise you the taste and texture of these truly unique donuts are worth every penny. I walked here from the hotel across the street, but if you're driving here there you can get one hour retail parking free with validation in the parking structure with an entrance off 106 Ave NE. My husband bought me a box of doughnuts on Valentine's Day instead of flowers. How awesome is he??? We tried 4 or 5 different kinds from Top Pot, and they were all soooo good. I'm a chocolate fiend, and their chocolate old-fashioned was pretty tasty. The chocolate frosted chocolate doughnut was really good too. If they would take that chocolate old-fashioned with the sweet glaze and dip THAT into the chocolate frosting, THAT would be the best thing ever. The others (non-chocolates) were really great too, the pink frosting was super yummy. As far as doughnuts go, these are really good. Not the best ever, but they always leave me satisfied and smiling. There are two types, if you didn't know - yeast and cake. Although these guys do a smashing cake doughnut too, the yeasty kinds are my absolute favorite!! The top of the list? Bavarian Creme Bismark, Raspberry Bismark, Maple Bar (go on, you know you want to put bacon on it!), and the Apple Fritter. How can you not love these guys? They make a great cup of coffee too, as is tradition with this particular confection. The best part, if your doughnuts get stale the next day (as if there would be any left over. Top Pot makes good donuts. They are probably not the best donuts you've ever had, but they certainly won't be the worst. The interior is really lovely though, with expansive windows to let in the small amounts of winter light and beautiful large bookshelves decorated with older volumes. The chairs are not *that* comfortable, but they aren't that bad, either. What makes Top Pot Bellevue unique and wonderful is the fact that it's located in Bellevue. No, Bellevue isn't that awesome or that exciting, but it is amazing that there is a choice other than Starbucks or some other similarly bland large outlet. You can go to Top Pot and sit and study or read a book or surf the web or drink coffee and have a donut with a friend. In Bellevue! Who'dathunk? Certainly not me. I love everything here.. you can study here for a long time if you are used to wooden chairs (it can be uncomfy after sitting there for a while). However, the donut is like much more expensive than QFC... It's like $2.51 vs $0.80.. I've read somewhere that the donuts in QFC are smaller, but I'm sure 3 donuts at QFC would be much bigger than one donut in the store :P. I was disappointed when that happened to me- I was told I could get any size, so naturally I chose the largest- why not?? I finally see the girl brewing my tea, then pouring it into the cup filled with ice. the level of tea literally fills the cup about half-way, and I can see her stop and think- "oh crap, it's only half full." so, innovative thinker that she is, she throws in more ice and shakes the thing until the tea level appears to fill the whole cup, and then quickly hands it off to me. *sigh* why did i just pay for what, 6 ounces of peppermint tea with 20 ounces of ice?? It's been a while since I had a doughnut from here. I remember it was such a craze when it first opened. I came here recently to revisit what I recalled a tasty doughnut experience, but was left disappointed with all the selections I got. Maybe it's my fault, but eating any maple bar after having a maple bar from Chuck's donuts (Renton), is just bound to end in disappointment. It was lifeless, thick, and slathered in an overly sugary layer of maple frosting. The cookies and cream donut caught my eye from the case as it reminded me of America's favorite cookie, the Oreo. However, one bite made me feel bamboozled and slightly upset that it didn't represent the most beloved cookie of all time. Dry and crumbly with stale bits of Oreo, it tasted like a sad day at the cookie factory. Oreo lovers- beware... The last one I had was explained to me as "The best! It tastes like you bit into a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch!" With a pitch like that, how can anyone resist a raised doughnut rolled in a cinnamon sugary coating. My anticipation was quickly let down as I first tasted sugar, then tasted flavorless, dry doughnut base. Overall, a poor flavor experience and a costly one at ~$3.50 a donut. I will call out that I love how the owner does not use any peanut products, as I'm severely allergic and love that I don't have to worry here. This place is a Seattle institution. It also turns out that the location I visited is the same one that Seattle Seahawk's wide receiver Golden Tate broke into and snagged some donuts late one night when he got a snack attack. It will run you a little bit more than a place like Krispy Kreme but it's worth it. I visited a couple of times while there once getting a maple glazed cake donut and another time getting a Bavarian Creme donut. Both were very good, I preferred the Bavarian Creme donut as it seemed to really balance out with the coffee. I bought a couple bags of beans for coffee back but home but they're a bit too expensive to make as regular everyday coffee ($10+ for 12oz). I can get a pound of excellent coffee at HEB in Houston for the same price or maybe even slightly less. Do they ever serve fresh hot donuts here? I only came in the mornings and they're already made and cooled. They seem to be closed in the late afternoon when a lot of places like Krispy Kreme would offer hot donuts. The space is pretty large and there is a parking garage with free parking with an elevator that takes you right to the street level/the store. Top Pot is always pretty good overall and since it was super easy to get to I would go to this location again. read more
