We started with the Caprese -- fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, roasted and roma tomatoes finished with a balsamic and olive oil drizzle. Light, fresh, and the perfect opener. The Stuffed Mushrooms followed -- mushroom, beef au jus, romano -- and they were phenomenal. Warm, juicy, and absolutely bursting with flavor. We paired the meal with a bottle of Pinot Noir and settled in for a great night. For entrees, the Rigatoni à la Vodka was a standout. Heirloom tomatoes, house vodka sauce, basil, and garlic came together in the most silky, savory sauce that managed to feel light while still being deeply satisfying. Every bite had us going back for more. The Salmon Piccata -- grilled salmon with capers, lemon butter sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus -- was incredibly flavorful. The lemon caper butter sauce tied everything together beautifully, and the sides were a lovely complement to the dish. We finished with two desserts and honestly, that was the right call. The Tiramisu was impossibly light -- perfectly layered, not too sweet, and every single bite earned its place. The Affogato -- vanilla gelato with a hot shot of espresso -- was the kind of dessert you don't stop thinking about. Simple, elegant, and absolutely perfect. We could have ordered multiples without blinking. 19Seventy is a gem in Whittier. Whether you're coming for a family dinner, a date night, or just a night out that deserves something special -- this place delivers on every level. We will absolutely be back.

Our server was Ashley and she was so friendly and sweet! She answered all our questions and was very attentive to us throughout the dinner! She even refilled my hot water multiple times, which is SO RARE in a restaurant!!!! The food itself was delicious and had great portion sizes! The appetizers were great (calamari and caprese salad)! Good shareable portions for the table! For dinner, we ordered the short rib pappardelle, which was DELICIOUS and was a hit!!! There was more than enough to split among three people! I had the grilled salmon salad which had a good hefty portion of salmon that was perfectly grilled, on a huge bowl of greens! The restaurant gave my mom a complimentary canoli for her birthday too, which was awesome! Thank you so much for the great food and excellent service! My parents loved it and everyone had a great time.

The artistic message in placing it on campus seems to be that everything is impermanent. Each piece is supposedly strategically placed with his groin facing down, rear-end up in the air. Supposedly there's a local superstition that students receive good luck on tests rubbing a butt piece clockwise or counterclockwise, but truthfully I think the only people spreading this notion are campus tour guides. Still it's funny walking by on your way to class and see some hipsters having a drum circle or reading while sitting on that supposedly lucky piece.

And as for the students…read more"rubbing its butt" for good luck on their exams, they could certainly continue to do so if the statue was to be properly repaired, so what's the problem? In fact, if this statue does possess such a power, then certainly it would very much appreciate being repaired and thus give you even better results on your exams as a way of thanking you for fixing it up. So come on you guys. Fix that statue and make your campus look its best!

Grew up with Italian grandma so it has been nearly impossible for me to find good pasta even close to it. Then Il Gatto blew me away. Me and my husband ordered Short Rib Papardelle and Spaghetti Bolognese w/ Meatballs. The pappardelle had such a savory sauce that tasted like marsala and the shredded short ribs were so tender. The spaghetti bolognese was delicious! The pasta was al dente and the meat sauce chef's kiss. They also provided some complimentary warm French bread which me and my husband shamelessly devoured 2 baskets before our meal. Ambiance was gorgeous! Was nice and dimly lit with a nice warm fireplace. Very romantic date spot. Definitely a spot to take pictures. I adored the exterior of the restaurant as well!! They have outdoor seating with a small fountain and flowers by the entrance. It was beautiful. Service was..good..but not great. Now let me tell you why. Hostess and server were very kind. HOWEVER. It took our server 30 min to get our drinks. The restaurant only had 1 big party, a couple, and us. Was not packed at all. (I have personal experience with restaurant management so I completely understand how chaotic restauarants can get.) So here is my complaint.. our server came back 3 times to ask what we ordered even though I saw her write stuff down. Then she forgot our drinks at the bar and we saw them standing there. She grabbed them 30 minutes later explaining she has a big party but served us warm alcohol. At least offer to get us new ones for waiting 30 min and not the old ones you left sitting out. You know? Who likes warm champagne?! I still took a deep breath and tried to give her patience because she was an older server and was very kind. I just wish she didn't spend her whole shift coming back to us to explain why she's taking so long instead of taking that time she's talking to us, to grab what we ordered. When we try to flag her down for something she forgets, she's standing around talking to another server for a good 10 min. Just came off unprofessional and turned me off a bit..to complain to a couple trying to celebrate their anniversary. Will come back for the food and ambiance. I shall ask for a different server next time. (Sorry).

First off, I came in for two pastrami sandwiches which they promptly came out to me and said they didn't have any more pastrami. The lady was nice and said she would upgrade me to a different type of pastrami that actually cost more. Well whatever this crap was it didn't taste like pastrami at all. I got one soft bread and one crispy bread and the crispy bread could've chipped a tooth on a normal mouth so thank God I've got implants. Both sandwiches were painfully boring and I wish I had something good to say. I'm not sure what was put in my wife's sandwich either when she got explosive diarrhea less than 10 minutes after eating her sandwich? The cold cuts tasted off and I wanna say that they were rotten because I've been burping it all day. Something positive? I guess the store looked nice on the inside? Anyhow, without a doubt I will not be back because if Subway can make a better sandwich than you guys you're in trouble. And subway sucks by the way. The food is consistently tasty and plentiful. I've tried the pastas but my go to meal is a big bowl of Minestrone soup, salad with Italian dressing and to die for garlic bread. I try to eat more plant based, and the soup is chock full of delicious vegetables - I think Vinny said eighteen different kinds - and just enough ditalini pasta to satisfy my pasta craving without blowing my diet. There's a hint of hotness to it, just enough to set it apart from the chain restaurants. I don't like vegetables very much, but I know they are really good for me, so Vinny's Minestrone was a terrific find. For my cheat day, about once a month I splurge on Patsy's Tiramisu. I think she said the recipe came from Vinny's Mom. It is worth every decadent calorie. The fluffy whipped cream is light yet rich, sweet but not too sweet, just the perfect amount of wonderfulness that dessert should be, and sadly, often isn't. Finally, I have to mention the people that work there. I don't know exactly what goes on in the kitchen, but my food is always fast, abundant, and hot - unless it's supposed to be cold. I'll repeat the word delicious here, because it is. So Vinny and his kitchen team are A+. The servers are great. Leti and Laurie greet me by name, with big smiles. They remember my preferences. They are never too busy to call out thank-you and have a great day when I leave. Patsy, the owner, is often on the floor serving, too, and she has gone out of her way to check-in with me and ask after my well-being. I appreciate their kindness, which is ever-present during slow, and busy times of the day. Vinny's is not fancy, but it's warm and homey, and yes, here's that word again: delicious. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
