Came by because I got a lock out, the day before I called to make sure they had my information. They did not tell me I had to pay $55 at time of service. The shop owner who is a short older gentlemen with napoleon complex told me I had to pay it and I would be reimbursed on it... maybe tell your customers in the future in advance how much the charge is before doing the service! One of the sad features of Top Shop is their lack of knowledge of automobiles. For example, if you're working on a strange car for the first time, it would be highly beneficial to look up the car and the repair that you plan to undertake. Top Shop doesn't do that. Even if they do work on a car, many times you have to take the car back several times to complete the repair. They should be the ones to figure this out, not the owner. I can excuse an occasional foul up, but I'm finding it is more commonplace to have to make several trips to Top Shop to ultimately get a simple repair done. I also have it waste my time going over what they claim to have done, to make sure the repair is done correctly. I have lost faith in this group and it affects several of my cars. read more

I brought my Audi in because I was receiving a "parking brake malfunction" code and was unsure why. When I first walked in, everyone inside the store was extremely professional and nice. Specifically, Tisha working at the front desk was kind enough to squeeze me in to scan the car regardless of me being a 'walk-in'. She also offered me coffee, water, and candy from the little bowl on the front desk. The mechanic working on my car, Ali, was able to figure out what was wrong with the car and fix it on the spot for me. They were incredibly friendly and helpful. They will tell you exactly what's wrong with your car, tell you how much it will cost to fix it, and they made the whole experience very streamlined and easy. When I went to pick up my car they told me the whole rundown of what was wrong with it and pointed out several things that they noticed were cracked but did not yet need to be replaced and said "Plenty of tire shops will wanna replace that and charge you for it but don't let them! Cracking like that comes with age and it's normal and your car will run just fine, so it's good to be aware that there are some cracks there, but it won't cause you any trouble in the mean time and it's not worth it to get it replaced right now." Disappointed, DON'T use TOP SHOP, I lost at least a $1000.00 because of Top shop! They did a "pre buyers inspection" on a used VW Beetle, I specifically asked if it had rust, they said only behind the accelerator pedal. Turns out the floor pans were rusted out, like rotted! Snap! When you pay for an used car inspection, you at least put it on a car lift and tell the customer what's wrong with the car. Either the employee lied, they were lazy, or they never did an inspection on it. But, they sure did take my money for the "inspection". Point is, without the "knowledge" I wasn't able to negotiate a reduction in price. Rotted floor pans is a big issue as I've learned having to repair them. Here are the pieces. Top Shop owner Willie saved us at the start of a holiday weekend. Smoke streaming out from under the hood of our 1996 Corolla Wagon. Willie spotted the almost invisible crack in the radiator. It was noon on Friday of Memorial Day weekend. I have no idea how he did it, but he got a replacement radiator up from LA and had it installed by 5PM. He had one of his guys drive it 30 miles round trip out to Refugio State Beach to be sure it was working with no leaks. Are you freakin serious?! Why would I go anywhere else to get my car fixed? Came in and was instantly greeted by Anthony and Alfredo. They were extremely friendly and welcomed me to help myself with their keurig (and trust me, I did)! My tail/break lights were blown out. They kept me company with good laughs while the car was being taken care of - I talked their ears off I'm sure! Everything was done in 5-10 minutes and they didn't charge me one penny, wouldn't even take TIPS! They said come back with cookies instead hahaha. Will do. I was new-ish to the area, and needed the headlight bulb replaced on my 2011 Legacy, knowing how much of a pain in the neck it was to do myself. I did my homework and found that Top Shop was close-ish to my office and could fit me in on my lunch hour. The staff was courteous and professional, but they were busy, and the job took longer than I anticipated. They replace the bulb, and get me back on the road. I checked my DRLs in the reflection of another vehicle, and realize that they replaced the wrong bulb. I validated it in the parking lot at work just to be sure. I called the shop back, and to their credit, they were apologetic and I came back the following morning to have them make it right. I brought in a BMW for a cranks but-no start problem which another "mechanic" could not figure out. Top Shop not only found the issue and fixed it but also inspected the car thoroughly providing a detailed copy of recommendation which may increase the life of the vehicle. Their prices are very reasonable at approximately half of others. Some mechanics in town charge $220/hr.... WHAT! Not even doctors charge that much. new brakes, Aug 2019, they started to make noise after 100 ish miles, returned to have them fixed, charged me $100 more to reposition a loose pin, the noise got worse. Now it iconstant noise. Do I go back? They said the noise is wind due to slotted rotors from R1. Fat chance. Not going there again. Time to find someone else. So what you told me is that when you first put the brakes on they worked perfectly and then when they started making a noise after 100 miles, you found a loose caliper then you charge me $100 to put the loose caliper back and then a louder noise became permanently (which you thought was the wind noise from slotted rotors), so what you're explaining is the parts were perfect when you first put them on and then after the spring clip was repositioned, the brake parts changed shape and got constantly noisy that sounds like a reasonable explanation. brake parts work first perfectly and then they change shape all buy them selves. that should be fine unless your customers read this report. To respond to Tess. The parts you installed were initially PERFECT. You charged me to make them noisy after a spring clip loosened. I have not encountered this before, where a shop makes brakes go from perfect to noisy, and blames the parts, charges me over $100, and blames the parts. You should have said "they are still constant noise, we can't fix them, we won't charge you, sorry we aren't capable of installing brakes on your car successfully, we tried".
