I am…read moreglad I finally went through with it as it is becoming more and more apparent how violent and strange the world has become ever since 2020. I already had a FOID card but knew I also needed to go through with a conceal carry class. I really like Waren Develle's way of teaching this class. He really interacted with the class, telling us about real life examples, teaching us what is required by law but also extra tips he has. As a result of his tips on how to become a good shooter, all of the members in my class has no misses with the exception of those who had either an ammunition or firearm malfunction. Develle also has a funny, down to earth, and easy character about him that makes it easy to connect with his students. Once we got to shoot for the first time, I know what it feels like to hold and shoot a firearm and feel much better having this experience. I found shooting to be fun and would pursue more knowledge in firearms training as well as gain more experience in shooting. I am looking to purchase my own gun in the future along with all the recommended accessories the instructor has recommended. I highly recommend taking a CCL class as the more we know about firearms the better and the safer we can keep our communities and neighborhoods. I believe in preparedness and in being responsible for our own lives and in being part of a healthy yet strong community.

We decided to take the 3 day Concealed Carry training Thursday, Friday & Sunday…read more We paid $185.25 for finger prints, equipment rental and Application assistance fee. The Class is completely FREE of charge, do not assume that the initial price paid will include the fee for the Concealed license, that fee is a additional $153.38 once you have finished the course and applied online. The shooting range is not in this establishment you have to go to another location for that part of the course. The instructor Mr. Devell is extremely knowledgeable in his task and he will make sure that when you leave his class you are as well. Mr. Devell can also be a bit condescending and can in my opinion use better peoples skills. Mr Devell also uses a lot of profanity during his class and does not take inconsideration the respect for Seniors. The classes never started on time and it was a lot of valuable information to cover. Is a bit unorganized as is only Mr. Devell teaching but also trying to multitask everything else so expect long wait lines for signatures and photos. The establishment is clean and the staff is very helpful. Did we learn? Yes Would I recommend someone to go? I would with a fair warning of all the things I mentioned before. We also decided to make a purchase and Ricardo Rodriguez was very helpful in answering all of questions and helping us with the online application process for the license.

Ya could say I hit the Bullseye when I found BowDoc ; )…read more I took the Thursday night archery intro class and it was awesome. I've never touched a bow in my life but I was totally comfortable with everything as it was taught and presented. We got to shoot so much during the class and we also got to stay after class as long as we wanted until the range closed to keep shooting. I loved it. Fyi: The Intro class was only $20 & it's only $15 for open range including renting a bow. And you can stay as long as you want. The people are so friendly, welcoming, and inclusive. I love that there are so many women involved. Apparently women are badass archers! I've been back to shoot now at the open range and there seem to be no egos; there's a great supportive vibe. Everyone just has fun while focusing on honing their skill at this really addictive sport. The archery shop has a good selection, lots of bows, arrows, targets, all kinds of stuff. I asked about getting set up with a new bow and what I like is that they were very honest about the cost of getting started, they didn't try to up sell me or give me the hard sell like so many places would've have since I'm 1) obviously super eager & 2) relatively clueless about archery. The shop is set in a tricky to find place the first time, for me at least. It's set behind a storage unit place. There's a long driveway but you just go past the storages/garages, there is at least one sign (a burma shave/garage sale style sign) that says Archery with an arrow towards the shop. And the shop is easy to see on the left once you drive by the storages & other businesses. Parking is easy. Tl;dr: I feel safe and welcome at BowDoc. :o)

And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.
