I placed an order through Uber Eats, and after the restaurant ACCEPTED my order, they called to inform me that the item I ordered was unavailable. Not only did they fail to offer any suitable alternatives, but they also insisted that I cancel the order myself. Unaware that this would result in a cancellation fee, I followed their instructions--only to find out I was still charged. When I contacted Uber Eats, they reached out to the restaurant, which then denied ever asking me to cancel. This establishment scammed me out of my money, and I will never order from them again. I will also be sharing my experience on every review platform to warn others. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Set up the food is wonderful. The really itself on the taste of the Caribbean. Service is wonderful. The red pea soup 10 out of 10 the stew chicken has always done to perfection. The curry chicken is also done perfect perfection and not everybody could do curry the oxtail done, falling off the bone and seasoned to perfection in the rice and peas is always good. As much as I like the food here, there's a HORRENDOUS woman who makes coming here not worth the agitation of dealing with her attitude. Whether it's a pick up order from a third party system or ordering at the restaurant; she doesn't pay attention and insists on making you repeat yourself. All while asking in a nasty attitude. They would do well to get this woman out of a customer-facing position. AVOID THIS PLACE if you care about customer service. read more

I was disappointed to learn tht the chicken foot still had nails on so tht tells me tht they didn't clean the chicken. I love their fried dumplings but the food is not as good as it used to be plus the prices of the food is outrageous. I got more peppers and onions than I did Ackee and Saltfish. The service is always better wen dealing with men but some of the women are nice then some just rude wit attitude. I like this place but it has it's flaws read more

I ordered the curry chicken and jerk chicken and everything was very good! I've been craving curry chicken and it hit the spot! The jerk chicken is spicy so if you don't like spicy or not to much of it I would put the sauce on the side. Service is not bad plus my food was hot, fresh and good so I'd wait for it all to be done. Their customer service can use improvement. I ordered online for pickup and when I went to pick it up after getting a message it was ready I had to wait in line. Once I finally got to the front the worker took the order of someone that came in AFTER me like I wasn't standing there for 10minutes. He called this person to the window when the person was waiting in line behind me. When I told him I just needed to pickup my 'READY' order he told me to wait so he could finish taking the other customer's order. Like I wasn't there before him. After that a woman came to the window and acknowledged me. Then the same man that initially ignored me gave me my order which was just sitting on the table. It didn't need to take that long and I shouldn't have been treated like that. The food is good though read more

I wasn't impressed, the Chicken was extremely dry in the Curry Chicken Roti. I understand that oxtails are expensive, but there were 2 Oxtail, one was a decent size, but there were more bone than meat. I won't be going back anytime soon, since there are better options in the area. read more

I ordered the large Stew Chicken dinner. For starters I'll have to agree with the other reviews that the staff is not friendly at all. Secondly, the rice and peas was ok but the Stew Chicken itself tasted old as if they cooked the chicken days ago and it was left in the refrigerator and then threw sauce on it...felt like I was eating beef jerky or something smh i wasn't crazy about the brown stew chicken sauce it was more sweet than savory in my opinion, I'm use to Brown Stew Chicken looking brown but their sauce looked somewhat orange to me. This was my first time coming to this restaurant and unfortunately will probably be my last. Would not recommend based on service and the food qualify of my meal. read more

When you buy food you allegedly earn points but every time you try to use them they have an excuse. Either you have to call the order in first, the computer is down or the system is updating. Every time you call it's a different excuse. The last time I purchased food the lady told me I had too many points. She said you have to use them or you will lose them. It's just principle. I will not be patronizing this business any longer. Why even have a points system. read more

One time I placed an online order (not recommended) the night before for pick up in the morning. I got there at opening and the sign said closed so i waited 15-20 mins. Still said closed. I eventually decided to just go pull on the door, and it was open -___-. I went in told him I placed an order the night before. The guy was all confused and asked me what I ordered. I told him and his response was that he has to cook it.. -____- Okay, another 20 mins I got my food. Honestly pissed me off but at least the food was good. Today I call this morning to place an order of codifsh and ackee. The woman responded, "its not ready yet"...... my thing is, no shit its not ready, but now you have a customer ordering it so start cooking and tell me how long?? It's just ghetto and unprofessional. I want to support black businesses so bad but they always be on some tacky ghetto bullshit and its just unacceptable to be honest. Its just not a response you give to an order and now you just lost a customer and got a whole review on yelp.. DO BETTER. Your food can be good but without customer service skills you will never get five stars. read more

Very please with this local spot. I am new to Newark and I am used to BROOKLYN style carribean food. Ths place is just as good as Flatbush. The Curry Chicken and Rice & Peas was perfect, tender and the flavors /spices was on point. The wife got the Oxtails, another winner. Great job, we will be back. I would take away a star for the two pieces of plantains ( but I know this is common place, even thoug their usually like 3 whole plantains for a dollar around here) Hint Hint to TOP TASTE! read more

The food was nasty , i ordered the jerk chicken with white rice and cabbage and plantains. The rice tasted old as hell and the jerk chicken didn't taste like jerk. IDK what kind of sauce that was but that wasn't no authentic jerk chicken. Customer service is horrible, no greeting or anything just look at you like what do you want. I'm not even Caribbean and i know what good Caribbean food taste like and this is not it. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I placed an order for over $25 to this very unproffesional restaurant at 1:17pm at 3:15 pm still no food. The delivery driver called me 2 mins ago and said he just got the order to deliver 10mins ago. If you know what's good for you you will never order from this place. 2 hrs and 15 mins for my food. Very unproffesional !!!! Needs customer service skills. Overal with the worst customer service ever the food is actually pretty good best beef patties I've had in America. read more

So I've tried this place a couple of times and my experience here is always "ok". The people in the front aren't friendly really. It's more of a just order what you want and leave type of place. I've tried the food and the beef patty is probably the highlight of the meal. They taste freshly made but the problem is they HARDLY put any meat in them at all. The flattest beef patty I've ever seen and it sucks because they taste good. Wish the service was friendlier I would come back more often. read more

Staff amazing! Food is the utmost HORRIBLE! MAC THAT OLD AND FrOM A BOX. I tasted box or carton flavor. It came from the fridge. It was old and super yellow. The mac looked like it was a week old and they threw a slice of American old cheese on top. If you're fricken lazy and baked fresh mac and cheese every day because it's not cost effective dont sell it. Ima cook and for them to have the audacity to sell something from the walk in fridge and nuke it, is a problem. I THREW OUT ALL MY FOOD. AND ATE CHEESE AND CRACKERS FOR DINNER. DONT GO HERE. In northern nj this is one of the preferred carribean dining locations (Better than Golden Krust). Jerk Chicken is seasoned to perfection without being overpowered. Stews have proper consistency, and taste. Portions and Prices are also very fair and the reason this gets 5 stars instead of 4 read more

The chef is in the back GRILLINGGGGG that meat- oxtail, chicken, goat meat, beef ribs. Meat, that I as a Jamaican, never imagined could be jerked, they jerk and it's delicious. The flavors and the tender meat- just wow. This is literally a gem in for the state of NJ for sure. I'm telling ya'll, I have been to MANYYYYY restaurants and the jerk is always baked. People are out here eating baked chicken, calling it jerk and NO THANKS. I'm so grateful to R'SZN Jerk Center. If you want real, authentic, Jamaican jerk, this is the place to go. I promise you won't be disappointed. I wish I had pictures to attach but, it's gone, finished, and eaten lol

I unfortunately had to change my high opinion of this establishment…read more Disgusting service via phone when I called to find out why my order kept getting pushed back. Waited over an hour for my order..when I called, the manager who is apparently at a totally different location, told me they were out of jerk chicken and that I needed to cancel the order. I explained to her if I canceled the order I'm going to be charged. I also explained to her that as a merchant, she has the option of letting me know VIA THE APP that they're out of the item AND then cancelling the order..She stated that she can do neither, which is a blatant lie..!!!! I ended up having to cancel the order and now I have to dispute the charge with my bank since getting a refund from Ubereats is NOT an option if customers cancel the order. If you don't want to be charged for food that you may not get, I suggest you DONT order from here!!

The flavors were there, and some dishes were enjoyable, but others felt a bit underseasoned and not as fresh as expected. Portions were reasonable for the price! Service was polite, though a bit slow at times, especially when it got busy. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, but it could use a little more attention to cleanliness and organization. I just wish there was more given for the price. My mother got the Lalo with rice and beans. The Lalo tasted good but i also felt the portion of it was small. The both rices were good. The sauce on the side to put on the rice could've used more flavor and the pikliz was not spicy in my opinion. I would preferred it to have more of a kick. But overall it was pretty good, I would get it again especially the griot but I would most likely do it during the lunch special.
