Good food, but excruciatingly slow service. There was only one lady working in the front, and she kept disappearing in the back. It took ~15 min from being seated for someone to take our orders. Then another 15 min (30 since arriving) to be served water. Food came shortly after the water. While eating, a drunk or crazy guy came into the restaurant wanting to order alcohol, and kept loudly pacing around the restaurant while talking to himself and blasting music from his phone. While this was going on, the one worker was mostly in the back, and I felt extremely uncomfortable with this guy here unattended. It also took 20 minutes for him to be served a single bottle of beer. Then we had to wait 10-15 min to get the bill after asking. When the worker came back, she saw I had an amex and said visa or Mastercard only. Although I immediately took a different card out, she already walked away again and we had to wait another 10 minutes for her to take the payment. I honestly wish I just walked out before ordering.

Excellent food, beautifully prepared! First off, this place is fairly new. It used to be a Thai restaurant before. Now it is once again, but with new owners and beautiful decor. My daughter and I shared an order of pad Thai and a cucumber salad, while my granddaughter had tom kha. Her soup was really delicious with lots of chicken and veggies. Our pad Thai came out, and upon tasting it I detected a pretty pronounced fish flavor. So as a vegetarian, I asked if fish sauce had been added. Our server, who I believe was the owner, quickly asked the cook and found out it did. They immediately made another serving without the sauce and it was wonderful. So service was great and food excellent. I would definitely recommend this lovely Thai restaurant if you're in Richmond.

We went Sunday for the first time. The place is clean and the food is good. The flavors are not intense. Nothing was spicy. We had papaya salad, green chicken curry and rice. It's family style and portions are bigger than at other places. Service could be better. There aren't too many employees in the dining area. They disappear into the kitchen.

Best summary: exceptional food marred by nonexistent service. We were seated around 6:50 and were provided menus. We were not seen again until 7:04 for our orders. Water and drink order did not come until 7:18. The glaring issue was that they only had 1 person managing the tables. They'd disappear to the back every time we tried to get their attention. The lack of service really soured the whole experience.

The food and service was excellent. Loved the ambience and the music too. The dessert to die for :) mango sticky rice :)

Business card that I won't need.

We walked in and waited about five minutes with no one in sight to seat us, even though we could hear staff talking and laughing in the kitchen behind the curtain. Someone eventually came out and told us to sit in the corner. My wife had to ask for menus, and then we waited another ten minutes without any service. There were two other tables already seated, and we noticed the server only started taking their orders after we had been there for about 15 minutes with no attention at all. At that point, we decided to leave and went to Thai Spice instead.

Vegetarian green curry with Thai iced tea (left), and vegetarian pumpkin curry with Thai iced coffee (right).

Came in on 05/08/26 for dinner. Ordered green curry and pumpkin curry (both vegetarian), Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee (waitress kindly substituted coconut milk for the dairy cream even though she was unfamiliar), and fried banana with regular vanilla ice cream and honey dipping sauce for dessert (took it to go). Service was very slow with only one waitress who seemed to be juggling tasks in the back and would disappear for a long time, but all of the food was delicious and portions were generous. Overall worth it.

Food is very flavorful. Service was kind and friendly. Portions are well served. Place was very clean and comfortable. Highly recomend

My husband and I had lunch here the weekend of December 20th. It was good. We'll be back. I had Pad Thai with chicken. It was prepared well but lacked fresh bean sprouts or shredded carrots and there wasn't any tofu included which I thought was odd. The pad Thai I typically get at other places usually includes all those ingredients. Anyway it was a generous portion and the tamarind sauce was delicious. My husband ordered the green curry with white rice. It came with Thai iced tea. I had a taste and it was very good. The vegetables were fresh and al dente and the chicken was tender. It too was a generous portion. The food was good, the service was friendly. The prices were typical of the neighborhood. I deducted a star for lack of caffeine free beverages. I had a choice of lemonade or water. No herbal tea.

Hidden gem in El Sobrante that serves up some of the best Laotian and Thai food in the Bay Area…read more Every time we visit, must-orders are the Nam Khao (crispy rice ball salad with fermented pork sausage and fresh herbs) and Ka Soy (Laotian noodle soup). If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try. It's not overly complex in terms of flavor, but it's a bowl of good ol' noodle soup that is comforting and great-tasting. If you haven't tried Laotian food, give Sue's Kitchen a try. try some new flavors and you may just become a regular (if you aren't already). The owners are friendly too! It's a husband-and-wife team!

My parents came here last year and said the food was good BUT the crab fried rice was fishy so... I decided to just get regular fried rice and chicken wings. I was really looking forward to it since they have such high ratings but boy was I WRONG. My dad even called it, "I don't trust ordering from restaurants within 45minutes of them closing because they like to rush it." Also, "15 minutes seems too quick for them to cook the food" Well yeah my dad was 100000% right! The chicken tasted as if it was cooked then REFRIED. The meat was dry as he**. The skin was too hard and just unpleasant. The fried rice was disgusting. It didn't even taste like fried rice. If anything it had a weird taste and a dash of pepper. My mom said it literally tasted like BENS RICE OUT OF A BOILED BAG! No eggs even were in it! I'm just so pissed because this was supposed to be our dinner after an 8+ hour drive. I will be calling to request a refund since they closed after we received our food back at the hotel. I had to just throw the whole thing away! Yeeeeeucccckkkk

It's so aesthetically pleasing inside (see pics and video). The owner was there when we entered, and we were able to chat about Thailand and the Lao culture. So friendly and welcoming! Service was quick, efficient, and portions were ample for the lunch specials. We ordered chicken satay to start (comes with a nice helping of peanut sauce and cucumber salad), a pad Thai for the table with tofu, and a few lunch plates including the yellow curry, pad krapow, and spicy eggplant. Everything was packed full of flavor, and they bring a spice/sauce tray out to the table if you need to bring your dish up a notch. The lunch special comes also with a 2-piece appetizer like potstickers, egg rolls, and curry puffs which I thought was a nice touch. Plenty of shopping center adjacent (and free) parking, and wallet friendly. They serve Thai/Laos beer, wine, and a nice dessert menu. Would love to come back and try the Lao's menu including the papaya salad and larb.
