    Menu as of 03/26/25.

A no frills eatery that we decided to try, based on the existing reviews. While today's weather was substantially cooler that yesterday's heat wave, it was extremely stuffy upon stepping inside, although two fans were on. The recently posted menu I found online did not reflect the current prices, so I took a shot of the full menu as of 03/26/25. The male server was mediocre, since he practically ignored the two questions my vegetarian friend asked about the contents of a main dish and a dessert. She had to chase him down as he was walking away both times. We ordered the vegetarian the stir fried "Ginger" dish and a mild yellow curry "eggplant," each with tofu, and two bowls of steamed rice. The Ginger dish was plenty for anyone with a decent appetite. The curry eggplant was a perfect consistency and flavor, except it lacked the main ingredient - eggplant! While there were several diced potatoes and sliced carrots, there were only FOUR pieces of eggplant, so I could not rate this establishment at 4 stars. However, it's definitely a place to try, but not to impress on a first date.

This is a small unassuming place, but the food is absolutely amazing. I had the chicken pad see ew and loaded it up with hot sauce and chili oils at the table. It was delicious and legit came out so fresh, like steaming hot. Also the price was very reasonable, only 10.95 for this huge plate of food.

A Hidden Gem! I'm familiar with the area and thanks to Muang's review and photos, it got me hungry and lured me into checking it out. I didn't expect much, but wow, what a hidden gem! I ordered red curry, spicy chicken wings and egg rolls. The curry was surprisingly delicious and comparable to my wifey's and I favorite Thai restaurant in Pinole, Thai Spice. The ingredients tasted fresh and the broth was semi thick and flavorful with some heat! The spicy wings were yummy! So much flavors and tasty. Wish it had more heat though. Nevertheless, I should have ordered more! Lol! As for the chicken egg rolls/lumpias, fried perfectly and tasted acceptable as well. Not as good as my mum's homemade lumpias, but who is? Lol...still the best! Regardless, all three items were a great discovery. Please support this local business, because I know I will and return again for great tasty food!

This place is a old family restaurant, don't let that scare you away! The food was excellent and a very good value!

This place is delicious. Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu. This is definitely an unassuming mom and pop shop. Definitely worth a visit. When we came there were no other customers but don't let that fool you. Everything we ordered was so full of flavor leaving our tastebuds tantalized Coming back for sure if we're in the area

I accidentally stumbled upon this place recently and I'm so glad I found it! I had always passed by and never noticed it, but the food is amazing! I would absolutely recommend the pad see ew and the wings. I've tried their curries and those are very delicious as well. If you're in the mood for Thai this is your place! And the prices are great as well!

Super tasty Kao Soy (Lao soup), so yummy. And, of course the mango sticky rice too.

Super delish kao Soy noodle soup. Packed with flavor and spices and had to get the na go sticky rice too.

It's like a pho salad. It has tons of bean sprouts underneath the noodles and a lot of deep fried garlic pieces that make the noodles taste like Hong Kong crunchy noodles. At first I thought the egg noodles were fried. It was crunchy and there wasn't a lot of noodles but mostly a lot of sprouts and herbs. There were a lot of fatty barbecue pieces that I did not eat. I enjoyed one shrimp and one piece of squid. There were a ton of fake crab meat. The side soup was very nice and hot but had a taste of chicken fat and lots of salt and MSG. The noodle dish is extremely tasty and doesn't need any addition of soup. This was excellent on a hot day after a nice hike at Tilden Park. My husband ordered the same dish as me at my recommendation and loved it. My friend had their chow fun with seafood and barbecue. She enjoyed it and it was a generous amount so she took home half. This place is not shy about using MSG and the food is very salty and strong tasting. I find the dishes much cheaper than other Vietnamese restaurants. My dish was only $13.50. That's very cheap since it was full of herbs and seafood. Service is very efficient when they're not busy. No frills. Service is very slow when it's busy. Most of their customers are people who are coming here during their office lunch break during the weekdays. I noticed it was very quiet on a weekend. I'm still going to go back to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Berkeley next time I am in the area, Phosho Dough.

I replied back "that's weird, jasmine is a distinct flavor for a tea." She said yea...but she liked the warmth and found it soothing. Calamari was really good. Not heavy or greasy as it can be at other places. It was lightly battered and was crispy. I enjoyed the sauce it came with, but when I asked what kind of sauce it was, the server did not know...he stammered and said "uhh...an aioli" I was wanting to know what kind it was. Food is good, I would you try their food here. However, I would never recommend physically going here. I guess there's only two spots for pho in Pinole maybe that's the reason behind this place being acceptable, I would never go here again having to wait so long for every part of dining in a restaurant. Highlights: The viet coffee was strong, thick, sweet, and creamy, with what could be chicory flavor. Not always in traditional ca phe sua da but it was good and worthy of getting again. You'll get a good amount of caffeine with this. The atmosphere is pretty nice. Aesthetics is on the nicer side compared to even most modern Vietnamese restaurants. Letdowns: The bun bo hue lacked flavor. It tasted watered down and over-salted to compensate. It lacked much of the complexity a traditional bun bo hue has with the herb and spices. I'm used to a more brown like broth. This was a much more orange type of broth. My mother in law agrees that the flavor just ain't there. The special vermicelli that includes chicken, beef, shrimp and egg rolls was also a miss. The chicken was ok. Imagine a Panda Express teriyaki chicken but a bit drier and without a strong teriyaki taste. The beef was soft and not chewy which is a good thing, but the flavor was lacking. Needs more herbs. I would've particularly liked some lemongrass flavor with it. The egg rolls are smaller and has pork which is what you would expect but you didn't really taste the meat. It wasn't as crispy, either. I prefer a deeper crunch but that is a matter of preference. Some might dig the more delicate crispiness, but those at the table agree the flavor was lacking. The sauce was decent. Not overly sweet, some vinegar for balance, it was alright. The fried chicken with house sauce is fish sauce based, which I'm a fan of fish sauce flavor in general. But when it came out, the pungent smell was apparent and overwhelming. Not the one to prejudge before taking a bite, I gave it a bite and it was super dry. Like it's been sitting in the oven staying warm too long waiting for the sauce to be put on it dry. I've had chicken wings from the buffet that was better than this. And I hate buffets. Too dry, too salty, couldn't finish it. Normally, when food comes out too strong, we can pack it home and fix it, but this wasn't worth packing. You can fix flavor but you can't fix the dryness. There may be many reasons why the food didn't turn out well, but for all the misses and the few hits, I would not give it another chance.

The pho was a bit off in terms of the broth-to-noodle ratio. I usually like to taste the broth first before getting a bite of everything, but as soon as I dipped my spoon in, I could already tell how many noodles were packed into the bowl. Once the noodles loosened up, there wasn't much soup left. The broth itself was darker, but not in the rich, deeply flavorful way. It tasted more like it had been seasoned heavily at the end with too much bouillon, fish sauce, or something similar, making it too salty without much aroma. The brisket was good, and I did enjoy the traditional toppings like tripe and tendon, but I probably wouldn't come back for the pho. The rice plate with lemongrass pork and shrimp was decent. I just wish there had been more scallion oil, and the salad didn't add much to the plate. Fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots would have gone a long way.
