    Menu as of 03/26/25.

A no frills eatery that we decided to try, based on the existing reviews. While today's weather was substantially cooler that yesterday's heat wave, it was extremely stuffy upon stepping inside, although two fans were on. The recently posted menu I found online did not reflect the current prices, so I took a shot of the full menu as of 03/26/25. The male server was mediocre, since he practically ignored the two questions my vegetarian friend asked about the contents of a main dish and a dessert. She had to chase him down as he was walking away both times. We ordered the vegetarian the stir fried "Ginger" dish and a mild yellow curry "eggplant," each with tofu, and two bowls of steamed rice. The Ginger dish was plenty for anyone with a decent appetite. The curry eggplant was a perfect consistency and flavor, except it lacked the main ingredient - eggplant! While there were several diced potatoes and sliced carrots, there were only FOUR pieces of eggplant, so I could not rate this establishment at 4 stars. However, it's definitely a place to try, but not to impress on a first date.

This is a small unassuming place, but the food is absolutely amazing. I had the chicken pad see ew and loaded it up with hot sauce and chili oils at the table. It was delicious and legit came out so fresh, like steaming hot. Also the price was very reasonable, only 10.95 for this huge plate of food.

A Hidden Gem! I'm familiar with the area and thanks to Muang's review and photos, it got me hungry and lured me into checking it out. I didn't expect much, but wow, what a hidden gem! I ordered red curry, spicy chicken wings and egg rolls. The curry was surprisingly delicious and comparable to my wifey's and I favorite Thai restaurant in Pinole, Thai Spice. The ingredients tasted fresh and the broth was semi thick and flavorful with some heat! The spicy wings were yummy! So much flavors and tasty. Wish it had more heat though. Nevertheless, I should have ordered more! Lol! As for the chicken egg rolls/lumpias, fried perfectly and tasted acceptable as well. Not as good as my mum's homemade lumpias, but who is? Lol...still the best! Regardless, all three items were a great discovery. Please support this local business, because I know I will and return again for great tasty food!

This place is a old family restaurant, don't let that scare you away! The food was excellent and a very good value!

This is an old family restaurant, but don't let that scare you away! The food was very very good! All 3 of our menu choices were excellent! Give it a try!

This place is delicious. Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu. This is definitely an unassuming mom and pop shop. Definitely worth a visit. When we came there were no other customers but don't let that fool you. Everything we ordered was so full of flavor leaving our tastebuds tantalized Coming back for sure if we're in the area

I accidentally stumbled upon this place recently and I'm so glad I found it! I had always passed by and never noticed it, but the food is amazing! I would absolutely recommend the pad see ew and the wings. I've tried their curries and those are very delicious as well. If you're in the mood for Thai this is your place! And the prices are great as well!

Super tasty Kao Soy (Lao soup), so yummy. And, of course the mango sticky rice too.

Super delish kao Soy noodle soup. Packed with flavor and spices and had to get the na go sticky rice too.

It's like a pho salad. It has tons of bean sprouts underneath the noodles and a lot of deep fried garlic pieces that make the noodles taste like Hong Kong crunchy noodles. At first I thought the egg noodles were fried. It was crunchy and there wasn't a lot of noodles but mostly a lot of sprouts and herbs. There were a lot of fatty barbecue pieces that I did not eat. I enjoyed one shrimp and one piece of squid. There were a ton of fake crab meat. The side soup was very nice and hot but had a taste of chicken fat and lots of salt and MSG. The noodle dish is extremely tasty and doesn't need any addition of soup. This was excellent on a hot day after a nice hike at Tilden Park. My husband ordered the same dish as me at my recommendation and loved it. My friend had their chow fun with seafood and barbecue. She enjoyed it and it was a generous amount so she took home half. This place is not shy about using MSG and the food is very salty and strong tasting. I find the dishes much cheaper than other Vietnamese restaurants. My dish was only $13.50. That's very cheap since it was full of herbs and seafood. Service is very efficient when they're not busy. No frills. Service is very slow when it's busy. Most of their customers are people who are coming here during their office lunch break during the weekdays. I noticed it was very quiet on a weekend. I'm still going to go back to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Berkeley next time I am in the area, Phosho Dough.

TLDR: Got the wrong order and when they sent the right one, it had a fly (or roach) and hair in it. I was then argued with over the incorrect charge. 1) I ordered pho #2 and was served a rice dish #22. I corrected the server and was served pho a few minutes after my partner's food arrived. No problem - mistakes happen. 2) While putting the vegetable toppings on my pho, I noticed a long strand of hair. It was unmistakably the color of 1 staff member's hair - a dyed brown/ red. I notified the person that served me pho and he said "sorry" but did not send out new food or try to correct the situation in any way. 3) I decided to eat my pho and while drinking the broth, I saw there was a boiled fly / gnat / roach in my soup. I put it on a plate with the hair. (I'll be honest, I was so hungry I decided to eat the food anyways, but now I feel very sick...) 4) We went to pay our check and it was apparent that the listed item on the charge was the first wrong order - the rice dish that cost $2 more than my pho. The server that gave us the wrong order witnessed this exchange and did not correct the other staff member! or correct the charge for that matter! They then put a pho Large on the charge, but I was not served a Large, so still a incorrect (and overpriced) charge for a soup that had a fly/ roach boiled in it and a hair in the vegetables. I have understanding for some random issues that are inevitable mistakes like a fly or hair in my food, but to be argued with over $1 or $2 for double-y incorrect orders as we chose to PAY $50 for the food that was contaminated made me really frustrated with the experience.

Rang the bell twice before a lady appeared and directed me to sit on the other side of the restaurant. Adventure begins. It was COLD where I sat, so I asked for a cup of hot tea -- problem solved. The menu, though? Massive. Pho, salads, Vietnamese sandwiches, porridge, vegetarian dishes, noodle soups, vermicelli bowls, rice plates, chow mein, catering options... and about 30 drinks including fruit shakes with boba. If you can't find something here, that's on you. Parking is easy since they have their own lot - always a win around here. Now, about the staff -- I mention this because credit is due. Everyone appears to be older (50+), clearly hardworking folks grinding it out to make a living, and they're genuinely nice. Don't expect much small talk in English though -- they're polite, efficient, and focused on getting things done rather than chatting, which is totally fine. Just a "here's your food, enjoy" kind of vibe. One funny (but slightly distracting) thing: there was a full-on conversation happening in the kitchen between a lady and a man, and it was loud enough that I could clearly hear it from my seat. I felt like I was unintentionally eavesdropping. Maybe turn the kitchen decibel down just a notch? Final downside: a $0.50 to-go charge and a $1.38 'merchant fee.' I find these additional charges off-putting and they give me pause about returning. On principle, I believe these are operating costs the establishment should absorb rather than fees that are passed on to the customer. Overall: extensive menu options, hardworking staff, easy parking -- but the mediocre food, extra fees and a few quirks will keep me away and keep it from being a slam dunk.

The pho was a bit off in terms of the broth-to-noodle ratio. I usually like to taste the broth first before getting a bite of everything, but as soon as I dipped my spoon in, I could already tell how many noodles were packed into the bowl. Once the noodles loosened up, there wasn't much soup left. The broth itself was darker, but not in the rich, deeply flavorful way. It tasted more like it had been seasoned heavily at the end with too much bouillon, fish sauce, or something similar, making it too salty without much aroma. The brisket was good, and I did enjoy the traditional toppings like tripe and tendon, but I probably wouldn't come back for the pho. The rice plate with lemongrass pork and shrimp was decent. I just wish there had been more scallion oil, and the salad didn't add much to the plate. Fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots would have gone a long way.

You will find it near the back of the mall, and the place feels a little dated like an old school Asian family restaurant. It hits the spot when you are in a pinch for Viet staples like pho or vermicelli rice dishes, but as stated earlier, it's not where you go if you're looking for standout Vietnamese food. The value is decent, especially if you get the large pho. The service is generally pretty quick and friendly. Hidden gem in El Sobrante that serves up some of the best Laotian and Thai food in the Bay Area…read more Every time we visit, must-orders are the Nam Khao (crispy rice ball salad with fermented pork sausage and fresh herbs) and Ka Soy (Laotian noodle soup). If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try. It's not overly complex in terms of flavor, but it's a bowl of good ol' noodle soup that is comforting and great-tasting. If you haven't tried Laotian food, give Sue's Kitchen a try. try some new flavors and you may just become a regular (if you aren't already). The owners are friendly too! All in all, just a very sad dish for $15 which I could have made at home with nothing but boiled water and noodles from the supermarket. My husband had their massaman Curry beef. They were training someone to cook in the kitchen and this curry came out with the texture and flavor of water. They were very kind to refund us for the curry as it was completely tasteless. One of the kitchen staff tasted the curry themselves and said that it had no flavor and apologized profusely. The restaurant itself though clean has a strong unpleasant smell.

The pho was solid, with a clear, deeply flavored broth and noodles that were slightly al dente, which I personally enjoyed. That said, for $20, it didn't feel especially memorable. The crispy spring rolls were fine, but I prefer the ones I make at home, so I'd probably skip them next time. I was especially excited to try the Vietnamese beef carpaccio, and the presentation was beautiful. The beef was fresh, evenly sliced, and topped with baby greens, onions, crispy fried onions, and edible flowers. Unfortunately, the sauce leaned far too citrusy for my taste and overpowered the flavors I wanted to come through, such as fish sauce, vinegar, and sugar. I also think a little more fried onion and garlic would have made the dish more flavorful and satisfying. Overall, we had a decent meal with both highlights and misses.
