Our server Toy was charming. Great smile. We ordered our meal and really there's nothing on the menu that you would just absolutely completely enjoy. I love the freshness and the presentation at this place too. They put a lot of effort into bringing bright colors and textures to your plate to serve your food on. when the food arrives you know that they have done their job because it's absolutely delicious. Everything I had I'm always glad that there's enough leftover that I can take it home and have it again tomorrow. I'm looking forward to my second round on this food. And they say that pork is the new chicken so I always order my Thai foods now with pork. It adds a different texture and flavor to the food. I would absolutely recommend this place to come to and bring friends. If you want food, that's handmade, traditional flavors and the items on the menu are Thai you won't see lotion or American foods are mixed with it. They stick pretty much to the rules. Everything we tried was delicious and authentic. Comparable to many other Thai restaurants that are good but not memorable, this place made us all leave smiling and wanting us to come back for more. Till this day, I'm still dreaming about the food and craving for more. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Food came out at a good pace and service was quick and efficient. Traditional, homey vibe. ***Ho Mok*** We could eat 10 of these. None of us have ever tried it and I always love trying new things. I'm so glad I did. It's like a soft fluffy cloud soufflé with hints of red curry and pops of intricate flavors throughout. The coconut topping was light and creamy at the same time. Wow, wow, wow. 20/10 Highly recommend! Special Catfish w/ Red Curry I've tried this other places and this one was my top favorite. They fry their catfish here with a light coating and then almost caramelize the curry sauce on the outside. It was finger licking good. We even scraped off the sauce to put on our rice. Crab Fried Rice They are not shy with their crab topping. Other places put only a few chunks drizzled on top, but this one had a hefty serving scattered throughout. Thai Potstickers Also our first time trying this fusion, but yes it is a must. This one was served with green curry so it also offered a contrast to our red curry dishes. Basil Stir Fry You can never go wrong with this dish. I was too full from the other dishes to comment on the taste, but our table still didn't leave a single trace of it left. This was my first time eating at White Lotus, apparently they've been open for 15 years which means I've been missing out for over a decade. My cousin and I were craving something homey but quick, so we decided to try out White Lotus (which we found on yelp). We were specifically craving some sort of fish and once we viewed their menu it seemed like they had a great variety of traditional and authentic meals. The restaurant itself is super cute and has a lot of seating, but what makes the entire place is definitely Toy & Meow. They gave my cousin and I perfect recommendations & it honestly felt like I was eating at an aunty's house. I can go on & on about their charm, but another outstanding thing was of course THE FLAVORRR. I've eaten a lot of papaya salad in my life & they definitely have the Lao Style perfect, it was a beautiful balance of salty, sweet, spicy. We also ordered the fried Red Snapper w/ the Thai herbs (6), which was killer. We ate everything with a side of sticky rice & it couldn't have been more fulfilling yet refreshing. If you're a savory person I would suggest this dish 10000%. The food was made with so much love & I'm so happy to have come across this place. We wanted to have dinner before heading to a show at the Ivy Room. So glad we decided to eat at the White Lotus for date night! The place inside isn't a super fancy restaurant but it is clean, spacious and has friendly service. Our servers name was Toi and she was so nice and attentive. She gave use great service. Toi deserves 5 stars herself! We ordered 4 dishes and 2 drinks. I asked for a half and half mix or Thai tea and Thai coffee. I just enjoy the mix. My wife ordered the lychee tea which she really enjoyed. We got the papaya salad (Lous style), Pad Prig Khing with shrimp, Green Curry Fried Rice with veggies, and Pineapple Curry with duck. That papaya salad got me going! Delicious and all the flavors were exactly what I wanted. Tart, sweet, heat, umami. The heat was a good level that continued to build. The green beans with shrimp was my second favorite. Loads of green beans cooked just how I like with a little snap and plump shirmp. My wife loves fried rice and loved their green curry fried rice. It was loaded with veggies, and I didn't have some with the pineapple curry. All the dishes were a good portion. Dumbfounded to find this highly rated restaurant serving the worst pad kee mow I've ever had. Why, why, why would you stirfry this with the Vietnamese-style chili sauce? Ew. It was awful. Tom kha w/ prawn was unremarkable, mushrooms were all raw. Old musky smell in here, very quiet night with only a couple customers. They had me order and pay at the counter (and leave a tip before I had a chance to judge the service) then a family came in after me and sat down with menus and ordered from the table. I will preface this review by saying that I lived in Thailand for several years and know how hard it is to find a Thai restaurant that serves authentic Thai food. This place comes as close as to it as I've ever found (along with one 'farmhouse' restaurant that is so rediculously overpriced that is FAR from worth it). I was introduced to this restaurant by someone who also lived in Thailand for many years. He insisted this was more authentic than any of the restaurants we discussed. I have to admit that when my partner and I tried it, I felt transported back in Thailand with some of the dishes we had. Keeping in mind that many Chinese and Thai restaurants customize their food for the American palette, I did ask the hostess/owner to a) not add bell peppers to the dishes we ordered, and b) make them in the real Thai style - spice and all. Our favorite dishes are the Po Taek (seafood) soup (delicious!!!!), the spicy catfish, and the morning glory dish (when available). I recommend staying away from the non-Thai dishes like eggrolls/spring rolls or fried rice. They're just ok. We've been back many times since, trying out different items on the menu. VEGAN REVIEW: One of my go-to restaurants when I'm in the area and eating with my Omnivore family. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. There is even a vegetarian section in the menu. Just make sure whatever you order is dairy and egg-free as it should already be meat and seafood free. My favorite entree is the Pad Kee Mao tofu. I always specify vegan and they get it. Their veggie dishes are very flavorfulas well. I also love the mango sticky rice. This place is just good Thai! During the pandemic, we started doing a lot of take out here. They always say the food will be ready in 25 min, but it always ends up being like 40 min, so be prepared to wait. read more

This is my go to place in the neighborhood for good Thai food - it's fast, affordable, and delicious! The staff are super sweet and make sure you get exactly what you want. We've eaten here countless times, both in person and carry out - pictured is pad Thai and suki yaki soup, but our other favorites include Panang curry, avocado salad, Tom kha soup, and chicken satay. They also have great Thai tea that's not overly sweet. I'm honestly surprised by the negative reviews. I think some folks might not like it because it's not super Americanized versions of dishes and the interior is not the most glamorous. Ok this place is WAYYY overdue for a review! What can I say... the food is fresh, the service is always pleasant and I've tried over 10+ dishes and almost every one has been spectacular. Only 1 appetizer I ever ordered I disliked, and that was one me because I'm not big on certain fish yet I ordered their pork and fish ball appetizer (I forget the name). We dropped by on a Saturday afternoon to grab an early dinner and we were not disappointed. Many Yelp pictures showed crispy pork belly, and I could not find it on the menu. Being adventurous, I tried it anyways. The pork belly were thick cuts and fried to a crisp. The fatty part was gelatinous and the meaty part was drier and chewy. Pork itself didn't taste of much, however, spicy sauce and Chinese broccoli was savoury with a good kick. Corn fritters were very crispy and satisfying. The sauce was tarte, herbaceous and full of mango flavours. A very good complement to the slightly oily, and crispy fritters. Pumpkin curry with green sauce was nutty, creamy and savoury. I would've enjoyed it to be spicier. Pumpkin pieces were soft and mushy, soaking up much of the aromatic curry. Perfect match to a bowl of rice. read more

Great food and service! I ordered the Thai Iced Tea, Eggplant with Chicken, Thai Pot Sticker, and Deep Fried Whole Snapper Fish. All of the dishes looked beautiful, and I especially liked the nice addition of honeydew melon with the dumplings and fish. Sometimes Thai Iced Tea can taste overly sweet, but I loved the one I ordered, and it came in a generous glass. We also received huge portions of rice (though you have to order rice separately from the entrees). This is a small detail, but I really appreciated how the servers came around multiple times with water and even packed up our leftovers for us. We felt taken care of and relaxed! read more

One of my favorite homestyle Thai restaurants. Service is very motherly. I usually get the beef jungle curry, very spicy and flavorful. We also like the whole fried pompano with a lime mango lemongrass sauce. How many times we had gone to White Lotus before the pandemic -and we came to know Toi (the main server)-- always loving it...but then moved and just haven't been there until this afternoon. It is HANDS DOWN some of the best Thai food I have had anywhere. Everything so fresh and beautifully spiced. While the ambience has changed from white table cloths before the pandemic...to simpler easier to clean tables...the food is SO GOOD -- it doesn't matter. We had fresh spring rolls, just unlike what you get elsewhere. not stuffed full of noodles, but instead with wonderfully fresh dark green lettuce, the shrimp cooked just right and the dipping sauce...perfect...not too sweet. One of us had red curry (#30) with shrimp and rice noodles... One of us had the Pumpkin Curry /red curry with beef and rice... with lots of vegetables.. Both VERY fresh..sorry not to have pictures/will send next time... Toi remains the main server...and the owner,and chef remains Vilai Singto (who is a culinary trained chef -- just wonderful).. After a Costco run that left us exhausted after delivering to my parents, I just did not feel like cooking.  Unfortunately most places we wanted to go to were closed on Mondays so we ventured out a little further since we were more than halfway to Albany to White Thai Lotus.   Food wise it was more of a 3 1/2 star as the Pad Thai noodles is comparable to most places we have been to and the pumpkin curry with chicken was flavorful but I do prefer the one at Burma Superstar better.   I would not go out of my way for it, but if I am in the area, I would stop by again.   The price point is good and the service was friendly during a stressful enough time for most, bumping it up to 4 stars. read more

** The following review reflects my dining experience prior to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** I was strolling on San Pablo Avenue and had a flash of a thought that I could sure go for some khao mun gai, which as a lot of you know, is the Thai answer to Hainan chicken rice. I stepped into this restaurant on a wing and a prayer, a chicken wing and a prayer to the khao mun gai gods. They didn't answer me because I asked the server only to be demurely denied. Alas, I recovered quickly and decided to order two dishes. First up were the $8.95 Fresh Rolls, which were presented in an ornate tropical garden style with the mixed green lettuce and shrimp taking center stage (photo: https://bit.ly/3bhNUvk). The peanut sauce was a decent enough accompaniment but almost unnecessary given the fresh ingredients. My main was the $15.95 Seafood Salad which featured a sampling of edible marine life with prawns, calamari rings, green mussels, and scallops mixed with cilantro, onions, and some greens. I been to this place before years back. I don't recall what I ordered back then. However, yesterday I placed an order via phone for take out. My order consisted of crab fried rice , fish cakes and avocado & mango salad. Oh my my my ( in my Johnny Gill voice) . The salad was refreshing, it was so good. It was tasty, fresh mango slices, red onions, avocado slices, romaine lettuce, red cabbage, sliced melons on side, scoop of blueberries on the side, thinly sliced carrots, oh and prawns. Some type of dressing drizzle. The salad was huge. Fish cakes were a little spicy and were flavorful. The crab fried rice was a no for me. I got the praram pak, tofu and veggies in peanut sauce, with a side of steamed white rice. I'm vegan and I didn't end up confirming that there was no oyster or fish sauce to make sure it was vegetarian which bothered me at the back of my mind a little bit, but based on the dish and the description, I think it was okay. It was yummy. 4 instead of 5 because I've had even better versions of this dish at other places. I came in on a Sunday at 7 pm and it was a little too warm inside the restaurant but it got cooler as the sun set outside. When I came in, I wasn't sure where to sit so we grabbed a table ourselves and I grabbed our menus from another table. Shortly after our waitress brought us plates and water and from then on, service was good. Water was refilled without us asking and at the same time, we weren't interrupted excessively. Price wise, it is slightly on the higher side. With tax and tip, I ended up paying $17 for my one dish plus rice, so it's just something to keep in mind. Last month my company ordered a bunch of foods from White Lotus and that hooked me up again to a 2nd visit today. Since I came alone, I only ordered one dish. This is a family owned business and only two people working. Grandma is working diligently in and out of kitchen, so bear with her if the service is slow. I could not remember the name of the dish that I like so much during the company feast. However, when I described it to the lady she picked it up right away.
