Wow! That was my first impression when I picked up my car. It was actually sparkling from a distance because the sun was shining on it. The back trim was no longer the dull black color from the many years of sun exposure. Instead, it was the color I first rolled off the car lot with, when I first purchased it. I purchased a new car. I was very interested in preserving the paint in the new condition knowing that I keep my cars for 10 + years. Thankfully the dealer told me that they applied paint protection to the car. Then I washed it. Obviously the dealer didn't even wax the car. I did a search for detailers in my area and came up with 3 promising options based on reviews. My second phone call Jason at Top to Bottom Detailing answered the phone, the first detailer did not. Jason impressed me with his confidence of his knowledge and I set an appointment date. He wanted my car for 3 days. I didn't ask too many questions, after inspecting a car they were working on. I picked up my car and it looked great, but did not seem a whole lot better than new from dealer. Jason asked me to let the coating cure for two weeks before I touch the paint. This was hard to do in my area of dust that accumulates after a few days. Two weeks are up and I got to wash for second time since buying the car, first time after Top to Bottom finished with it. But in this case there was no doubt an amazing place to go didn't try and push anything on me didn't try to oversell or over charge anything very professional and Jason is very knowledgeable on what he does. Let me tell you...Jason knows his craft better than 95% of the other guys out there. If anyone tells you they can do a full detail in 2 hours they are full of it! It's just a job to most guys. I'll begin with the short story for those who don't want to read. My experience with Top To Bottom, although they were helpful, created more problems than it was worth. I essentially got a glorified car wash and a worse smelling car for $189. It was a complete waste of money. A prankster in my neighborhood decided to urinate in my car, which I didn't realize until it started to stink days later. At first I was going to clean it myself, but thought I'd better seek professional help. I took my car to a local car wash and was quoted $120 for detailing, but when I looked at their yelp reviews, I decided to go with TTB. Their price was much more expensive, but I had to get this smell out. Jason was friendly enough, and I had faith that they could do the job. Exactly a week ago today, I brought it in. They had my car from 11:30 in the morning to 8:00 that night. I paid the bill and was finally off with my car. There was a heavy scent of deodorizer (almost noxious) at first. I didn't even get to the stoplight at Overland before the original smell reared it's ugly head. I could still smell it!! It was Seinfeld's "Smelly Car" all over again *#@#(W$% I took my car home and in the morning, rather than taking it back to Jason, I started the project that I should have done in the first place, and that is I removed all the interior including the carpet. I contacted Jason on the following day, letting him know the problem. To his credit, he did offer to help me remove the carpet, but it's nothing I couldn't handle myself. So not only did the original smell still exist, but now I had this horrible deodorizer smell on top of it. One other thing I need to mention, is that the urine had only affected a small area of my car mainly on the mat/carpet between the front passenger seat and the rear passenger seat. The rear of the front seat and the front of the rear seat had been minimally affected. After removing all the seats, interior trim, and carpet, I washed/soaked the offending spots with my go-to odor remover solution of peroxide and baking soda. Here it is a week later and the urine odor is completely gone, however, that smell of the chemicals (I believe it was what Jason called a "Lysol Bomb") remains. I have not put anything back in other than the drivers seat. All the items have fans on them 24/7 to hopefully get rid of the damn cleaning smells. I am pretty disappointed in the results of the car detailing service. They didn't even remove the marks around the door handle (a 10 second job with a cloth and some cleaner). For $189, it's simply not worth it - especially when you have to wind up doing it yourself anyway. read more
