I would advise you strongly to think twice prior to hiring these people, they're highly manipulative and unethical. Lana calls incessantly, talks in circles so as to confuse you and does her best to avoid putting anything in writing. If I didn't insist she send me an email or text every time she asked for money, I would have no record of anything. Never has she given me a formal invoice even though I've asked repeatedly.
Keep in mind Top Treatments has been in business for a long time yet they only have 2 reviews, RED FLAG! They aren't licensed I just found out, which is required for this type of work. Right now they're holding my Curtains, 2 room dividers curtains, fabricated door as well as cornice boxes and they've refused to deliver and install them until I give them 1,000 for fabric which they have in their possession. Originally I owed them $216 in fabric, which they said I could pay upon delivery of merchandise, then it went to $412 and in the last 2 weeks it went up again to $1,000, (most likely because I told them I wouldn't work with them again). So naturally I requested an invoice which they refuse to provide! I told them by law they have to provide an invoice yet they still refused, saying I agreed not have an invoice, WHAAAAT?? Now very suspicious, I began reviewing all the texts and emails which are very convoluted, and somehow I managed to piece together what I've paid them up to date and what is actually owed.
Here's the breakdown...So far this year I've given them $10,500 for this job. I've calculated, based on emails and texts received from them, $7,855.62 was spent in fabrics, shipping, taxes, labour, delivery and merchandise received which includes the fabric money I owe. $2000, I paid in up front labor costs, which adds up to 9,855.62, and now I owe $2,250 in labor which is due upon delivery which adds up to 12,105.62 minus 10,500 already paid =1,605.62 owed. So basically they're trying to cheat me out of $1,000, which is why they wouldn't give me an invoice. Additionally it states on their contract 50% of labour paid up front and 50% upon completion. The total labour was $4,250, I paid them 2,000 up front and the balance owing according to them, is $2,466.08 minus 2,250 labor owed = $216. So how can I owe them 1,000 in fabric, it makes no sense??
Additionally, they came to install the merchandise June 12, which was not executed correctly so they had to take it back to the shop for correction.. The issues were these...
1. They covered one of the speakers in the media room with the cornice box, due to the cornice being oversized for the area, ridiculous!
2. The room divider curtain had the wrong hardware so when you walk into the room you look up and you see all this ugly hardware protruding from the soffit. I told them it needed a different application being that it's in the center of the room and not next to a window. First it needed to be as close to the soffit as possible. It needed a simple streamline strip in the ceiling that is unobtrusive. However, I was told by them the hardware I wanted didn't exist. So, I had to send a picture of this hardware proving it did exist, clearly they don't want to fix the problem.
3. The other smaller room divider curtain is severely lacking in fabric and was not hung properly so fell short of the wall and it looked terrible.
4. The cornice box on the other side of this curtain was way to small and didn't fit in the area, another miscalculation.
5. The fabricated door would not close as they put the piping on the perimeter of the door instead of the door frame. The door hinges rotate into the frame so of course it won't open, this is a no brainer, however according to them it can't be done
I've asked repeatedly for a description of the new application for the room divider, having lost faith in these people, no response!
I literally had to take pictures of all the mistakes and then draw out a corrected version for them so they would know what to do, again ridiculous!!
Its been 3 months since they took the merchandise to be corrected, 3 MONTHS!!!! And now they're blackmailing me into giving them more money that I don't owe as they know I need the merchandise for my rental. So, to add insult to injury they're now interfering in my ability to conduct business!!!
I've contacted the better business bureau, consumer affairs and now I will have to take them to court to get the merchandise that I've paid for and all because they did a bad job and they want me to pay for it! read more
