I've seen Riviera commercials for over 60 years... and now I needed them. I had a number of things going on and wasn't sure if the flooring would be completed during the recovering process. I called to get a quote a discuss my dining chairs being reupholstered. They took a message to call me back. When the call was returned, the person became upset they couldn't leave me a voicemail since it wasn't a known number. He text telling me this and I called him. Instead of discussing the chairs he went on and on about how he could not leave me a message. I explained it's because the number is Unknown and he says yes, but I should still be able to leave a message. I LOVE THEM. I don't like long YELP reviews, but in this case it's necessary. I inherited my grandparents 10 foot long (or so) sofa. The last time it had been reupholstered was AT LEAST 40 years ago. We got by with inexpensive slipcovers for a long time. The main reason we had not gotten it reupholstered is -- frankly -- in addition to the cost -- I didn't want to go through the whole awful process of getting an estimate. I figured it would be like getting an estimate for auto body work a long time ago . . . when you would nervously sit in an office and feel stomach pain as some guy with a big book of auto parts prices and an adding machine would torturously add up parts (click click click on the adding machine) labor (more clicks) and finally give you a price you could not afford that was spit out on a 3 foot long piece of adding machine tape. RIVIERA DOES NOT DO THAT TO YOU. THEY SAVE YOU FROM ESTIMATE HELL. A few weeks ago -- before holiday company of course -- I called Riviera to start what I assumed would be the torturous process of getting an estimate. Nope. They gave me an estimate on the phone!!!! "how old is the couch?" (they were honest enough to say it is not worth reupholstering newer sofas because the frames are made of inexpensive woods), "how many cushions?" and a few more questions and that was it. An AFFORDABLE PHONE ESTIMATE -- ACTUALLY NOT EVEN AN ESTIMATE -- IT WAS WHAT I PAID (they were running a sale and it was about $1900) . Fast forward a few days when a wonderful, wonderful gentleman comes to the house with many books with hundreds of fabrics from which I could choose. He suggested a tightly woven fabric because of the dogs. So, as he was petting the dogs I selected a neutral beige-y grey. We scheduled a pick up date. Easy peasy. I also asked Riviera to make two 1 piece slipcovers (or canine covers is more apt) out of the same fabric -- yes, because of the dogs. The two huge 1 piece slipcovers -- delightfully tailored -- roughly doubled the cost. But wait! There's more! on the day they called to schedule the delivery I told them that I had had a brain freeze and forgot to ask them to switch out the (probably 60 year old) feet on the couch. No problem they said, and they did, no cost, as a courtesy. I just got the couch back. AMAZING. The photos speak for themselves. I especially love my CANINE COVERS -- because I just could not justify getting reupholstered without dog-proofing. I just love these folks. read more

I thought picking the fabric would take hours, however, the designer that came to my house listened to what I wanted (pet friendly, easy to clean etc.) and made insightful suggestions. After picking the fabric a team came the next week to pick up the chair (it would've been that same week but it was a holiday week). The designer followed up about the button color and it was delivered the next day. Just got our sofas back from Riveria and we love them. It makes our room. Michael the designer was fantastic to work with. Came to our home and we meet on fabric choices and accent pillows. They gave us a great price and since our cushions and the sofa seating was deep we selected the cushion firmness and add inches of padding on the back cushions. The sofas are so comfortable now We got them delivered early and will have the for Thanksgiving. I recommend Riviera and Michael to anyone interest in reupholstering sofas or chairs. I have an older La-Z-Boy recliner in leather. Probably 17 years old by now. I have have actually cleaned and wore out the leather on the bloody thing. But I really like the chair. I thought that reupholstering it would be the way to go. So I called Riviera Upholstery to get the chair reupholstered. Their commercials sounded so good. They quoted me a price of over $4,000.00. And that was before the COVID crazy markups on everything. Basically about the price of 4 brand new La-Z-Boy recliners. I pointed that out to the guy on the phone and he said "yes that is right, but they don't make them like the old ones anymore." I wouldn't live long enough to wear out 4 brand new La-Z-Boy chairs. Well you can guess which way I went. I'm still looking for a replacement chair that will be as nice as the old one is. I would just save my money and plan to do something else. read more

I'm giving them five stars....but, I just got my furniture back, so hopefully it doesn't fall apart in a week, and I end up regretting the great rating. Here's the skinny: We were shopping, unsuccessfully for a new couch and chair. Looked everywhere, couldn't find anything. I saw the commercial for Riviera, like I have for decades. Truth of the matter is, I like my couch and chair, they were just in need of a redo, so we decided to call Riviera. Got ahold of Robert. Nearly hung-up on him after 2-3 minutes of his annoying 1970 used car sales pitch. He spoke to me like I was a complete dunce. His sales pitch is insulting to say the least. However, I stuck it out and let him carry on with his inane banter. I set up the sales appointment, figured I had nothing to lose. Carlos showed up. Pretty solid guy....spoke to me like I was a living, breathing, half-way intelligent human being, and just cut-to-the-chase. Bottom line, $2888 for reupholstering a couch, chair, and ottoman. All of the new ones we had looked at were in the $4,000 range, so this seemed reasonable. He told us 3-6 weeks. Over the next 3 weeks, he communicated the pick-up and drop-off dates . Even though each was well outside the quoted time frame (1-2 1/2 hours late each time), the pick-up and delivery guys showed up on the date promised. Overall, the furniture looks terrific, the price was right. Breakdown: If you can mute your phone and get through Robert's horrendous pile of bull*!%#, the rest of the experience was smooth sailing. Thanks to Carlos for his help and communication throughout. If the repair job lasts as I am hoping it will, I would highly recommend Riviera to anyone who has furniture they like, but it needs some TLC. read more
