So I decided to give this place a chance and try their boba. Usually I have bad luck trying new places cause most of the time I end up not liking it lol! But upon arriving to the store, I was already intrigued with all the spooky Halloween decorations, they really know how to be festive! The girl behind the register was super nice and was really busy since it was only her working but she helped me in a timely manner. She was so nice about me asking about the drinks and was really patient! I ordered the jasmine milk tea with strawberry heart jelly and my boyfriend got the house special 2 without boba (just jelly) and OMG!!! It was so good! You get to choose your level of ice and sweetness and the drinks were both so creamy. If you love jasmine you're going to LOVE the jasmine milk tea. I kinda wish the jelly was a little more on the harder/chewier side but that's not a big deal really!! Their fruit teas look so delicious I'm going to have to come here next time!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's near alameda, it's a close one with happy lemon lol! read more

Thereafter it was T-Mix, followed by Tea Delight. Now it is called Top Up. There is no telling how long this bubble tea place will last. Since it was a soft opening, the menu was limited to what they had listed on the sandwich board just outside of the business. For $3.00 one had a choice of fruit tea, milk tea or smoothies. After perusing the menu board, I opted for the peachy fruit tea. It was refreshing with bits of fruit flavored jelly, boba and two slices of peach (canned), but a bit too sweet for me. I had to dilute the tea with water. (3.5 stars) Specialties: fruit teas, milk teas, refreshment teas, cheesy cream, smoothies. Extra toppings consist of assorted flavored bobas, jellies, bursting bobas, cheesy cream, sliced peaches. Price ranges from $4.00 to $4.95 for beverages; 50¢ to 95¢ for extra toppings. Service was a tad slow, but I guess that was to be expected with the soft opening occurring. The three employees were friendly and greeted me when I entered the business. I believe there will be improvement in serving the customers. Right now, I am giving Top Up a 3 star rating, pending future visits to try their lychee bomb and taro smoothie. One of my new go to spots in Alameda! What's nice about Top Up is the parking, there's a huge lot right in front of the store! Additionally, it's super close to the parks and Crab Cove, so if you're looking to grab a drink and go for a walk this place is for you! Ordering is super simple, personally I prefer to just Order Online (check out their website) and then pick up in store. The estimated pick up time is usually pretty accurate! The store itself isn't really anything special especially with COVID measures. They have hand sanitizers and limit the amount of people in store. People are pretty respectful as they wait outside once ordering or waiting for their pick up. Drinks here are pretty good! I definitely recommend the fruit teas, their milk teas are just meh. My favorites here are: 1. Pink Kiss - absolute favorite! I usually get 25 or 50% sweet but if you're worried 50% sweet might be the way to go. The drink is super cute with the heart shaped jellies! 2. Avocado Smoothie - Looks a bit pricey, but avocado smoothies everywhere are kinda expensive. Pretty good, wouldn't say it's out of the world, but it is delicious. 3. Hawaiian Sunset - Not bad! 50% sugar. The drink itself is refreshing and the jellies make the drink look Instagrammable (haha). I can't to come back to try the other ones! If you're having a hard time deciding and want something fruity/refreshing, I definitely say go for the Pink Kiss!! read more

Kids liked to loved their smoothies (depended on which kiddo you asked). The ambiance is meh b/c it's in a strip mall w/ minimal outdoor seating. (Though it's worth noting it's cute inside.) This is hands down the BEST boba place on the Island and I live on Park Street where I can walk to at least 5 other boba places. While they are good, I would rather get in the car and drive to the other side of the island for this superior boba!! I think I am slowly but surely working my way through the menu.. I'm not impressed. I was in alameda and was craving boba. It's Easter Sunday, this place was open. Service was very quick, you order off of a kiosk and they call your name when it's ready. I ordered a Brown Sugar milk tea & my bf ordered a honey dew milk tea. The brown sugar was just plain milk tea, I expected to have brown sugar syrup or at least the taste in it. It was bland. This boba/tea shop is so worth trying! Customer service was great, and everything went smooth. There is an electronic ordering kiosk for card users, which I thought was nice for a breezy ordering process. The price for the sizes they give was worth it, and they had a ton of options for drinks like milk teas and fruit teas. I went and got the Lychee Bomb which was so tasty, and I noticed that in it were FRESH lychee bits! Like from the actual fruit! Top Up is in my neighborhood, so getting there is super convenient for me. The hours are pretty good as well, especially for the early lunches. The customer service is pretty nice! Every time I've come in, I'm greeted right away and any time I go to the designated pick up line to pick up my online order, someone is always following up. I appreciate that instead of someone just staring at me like at other places lol. However, I wouldn't say their tea is the best on the Island nor their Popcorn Chicken. The tea at times can be off and on - one day it is pretty good and the next, it could taste so different. I've tried milk tea, fruit tea and non-tea options, and it varies so much. The Popcorn Chicken is dry most of the time and each time I go, I try to give it another and another and another chance, but it's still not as good as other options on the Island. This place is so cute and delicious. They have so many options that you're bound to find something for everyone. The tapioca pearls were decent and nothing to really rave about. They are a slightly on the chewier side but the drink itself is splendid. I got the Ruby Passion which is a guava and passion fruit green tea and it was the perfect combo of sweet and sour. I didn't really think too much of it back then, but this place is now my go-to when I don't feel like driving out of the way (or across the island lol) for milk tea. I usually order a Raspberry Milk Tea with boba. When I want a snack, their fried tofu never fails! I don't really branch out and try different drinks when I come here. Over the years, I've tried a couple of their fruit smoothies and taro drinks- I was not disappointed. :) The bobaristas are always ready to help and I can say with confidence that I have never had a bad experience here. In terms of the store inside, I feel like it's a great place to get your work done, or just chill out finding time to catch up with some buddies. It's a very small store but the decorations inside are nice. I wanna give this place a higher rating but the drink I got in my opinion felt a little subpar. This is my third time here in one week. I came for the first time to check out this whole salted cheese tea craze. It is SO good! I actually have made it twice at home in the same week LOL. I do wish they used the other type of lid so you can sip your tea (the way you're supposed to drink it with the whole 45 degree angle method so you get both tea and cheese) instead of using a straw. Their popcorn chicken is pretty good too and I have ordered it each time as well, but I do think they could give you a little bit more chicken compared to other tea places. Just beware that it is a little warm inside if you plan to say and do some work (there are some outlets conveniently located near the tables to charge your phone or laptop).
