Strawberry milk tea with strawberry fruit jelly

I decided to give The Mix a try as one of the new boba shops in Oakland, and ordered the strawberry milk tea, no ice, 25% sweet, with free topping of strawberry jelly. At 25%, it's still mildly sweet and I appreciate the amount of strawberry flavor. I do wish the tea was still slightly stronger but it's not overpowered by milk, thankfully. The drink size is quite large by default. The jelly also added sweetness. Overall I thought it was decent, but unfortunately the drinks are quite expensive.

Their royal fruit tea is a great refreshing mix of citrus, watermelon and pineapple which is nice on a hot day. Their regular boba milk tea is on the sweeter side (I generally do 0% and even that was too sweet), but toppings are QQ as heck and the milk to tea ratio feels equally down the middle. They have some cool drinks like mango coconut boom which doesn't have boba, but you still get agar and chewy goodness. Textures are on point! And the shop is cute with some insta-worthy backdrops. They're truly the best boba spot right now in Grand area. The next closest spot that I personally enjoy is Tea On in Piedmont, and then Chi Cha in Berkeley (much farther). We went here on Sunday and ordered a few fruit tea drinks to try. My half sweet Mango fruit tea was pack with fruit, super refreshing and nice tea favor! The kids love their grapefruit and peach versions too. Next time will definitely try their pastry and coffee.

Amazing service the two ladies working here were wonderful and provided excellent service. I ordered a Creme Brûlée Strawberry Matcha Milk Tea and it was the perfect amount of sweet and creamy. The interior has a very cozy, comforting vibe. I would recommend this place and I will be returning!!

The staff were amazingly friendly, Elis was out front and offered me a sample of one of the most amazing things I've ever tasted in my life! Then Nicole, with her great style to match her smile, was so helpful and fun to talk to. She told me about how their place was mostly family and I couldn't believe they've been open for less than two years! Not to mention how great the place looked - oh and them there was the great deals they had. I got 10% of my drink and some one else has a BOGO! read more

I love that there are two boba spots on this block. Both giving you something a little different. I love that this place does have deserts! And that this place has really food options. And a variety of drinks. They have fruit teas if you don't want a milk base boba drink. Food definitely takes a bit of time to come out. But overall, my kids liked it. read more

The Mix is the newest boba kid on the Grand block and we are BLESSED. I've been here two or three times already, with friends, and one as a bulk order for my colleagues (who all loved their drinks)! They aren't doing their soft opening BOGO deals anymore, but you should def stop by if you love boba or want some refreshing drinks as the weather heats up. They have a tiny entrance, not sure if it's WC accessible, but there's a few indoor tables, and contact-less ordering at the machine. The staff is very friendly, I've met a mother/daughter duo and some younger high school or college aged staff. They're all very efficient and make great drinks! Their royal fruit tea is a great refreshing mix of citrus, watermelon and pineapple which is nice on a hot day. We got there just before it was about to close, and the ladies working were nice enough to serve us. They were both friendly and kind and took our order. We tried the iced crème brûlée matcha, and the drink was delicious one of the best ones yet on their matcha menu. Definitely going back for that drink. We also wanted to go back and try their snacks. Mehhh, I was expecting better quality drinks. Drink are too watery, lack flavor. Smoothie are too icy, and lack flavor. Food are mid, Coffee mills has better sandwich. And coffee. The employee was very nice tho. read more

I've been coming here since they opened. It's a quiet little shop with a cute ambiance. The people who work here are very friendly, but honestly I like that there's fhe option to use the kiosk instead. They have lots of posters up about the specials and new drinks, maybe just a few too many, but that's how I noticed a drink that wasn't on the kiosk. Quality wise, it's is so so refreshing and tasty. Sometimes I go on a long walk just to reward myself with their fruits tea. I haven't tried the food here, but I like that they have simple sandwiches instead of trying to be another quicklys. read more

Most delicious boba milk tea, fruit teas, and coffee I have ever tasted. If you are ever in the area, The Mix is a must for all your coffee, milk tea and fruit tea cravings! Not to mention the wonderful service! You can also ask for different sugar levels and how many shots of espresso, what kind of milk is preferred, etc. This place does not disappoint! Great staff and fruit tea! I ordered my drink (grapefruit tea w boba, yum) and asked if it was okay that I come back to pick it up after about 5 minutes. I was very late and didn't come back until 15 and didn't realize they were waiting for me to do the final prep and mix so it was fresh for me. So sweet!! I really appreciate their service. read more

Happened upon this place: starving & thirsty = they did not disappoint! Customer service is amazing! Kind, patient & super helpful individuals. It was troubling to me that this was brushed off as somehow my fault and to "come back next time" in order to get the drink I requested and paid for. I tasted it and came back within a minute, because it didn't really taste like sesame flavor at all- and as I was coming back in I saw a man leave with two of the same drink which looked like it had more sesame cream than what was in my drink. I told the person behind the counter this, and the response was how the man was a repeat customer from the previous day so again, how could anything be wrong with the drink I received? She took my drink and added more sesame but who knows - I couldn't see and she said she " mixed it in for me"- it looked exactly the same. Anyways, this had been such a frustrating experience with too much back and forth for what should've been a really simple solve.

We had 2 egg salad sandwiches and a jalapeno burger, plus two milkshakes. The egg salad sandwiches had to be straight up tossed out. Just not edible. The egg salad was sooo watery, it was like a soup. Just dripping and running down out of the bread. Also, a HEAVY mustard taste, overpowering everything else. The burger had a piece of something (literally) translucent on it, apparently their idea of a slice of cheese? And the accompanying fries were COLD. The toasted almond milkshake was so runny it was like a flavored water. Not at all a creamy consistency, I don't even think they made it with milk, it seemed to be just a tiny bit of ice cream, some water and a lot of ice cubes (still visible in the shake). Just nasty. The other milkshake seemed ok. Of course, with the order being from DoorDash, it's near-impossible to get any real support, so it's just basically a total loss. I don't know if Fenton's just doesn't GAF, since they're always busy anyways, OR if they need to pay their employees more in order to attract the sort of person who's capable of being trained to care to do things correctly, but it's just really a bummer that such a neat, fun, old legacy business is allowing itself to disappoint customers and turn into a big mess like this. Sad.
