I recently decided it was time to do some landscaping! I wanted something that would be extremely low maintenance, but still clean, and sharp looking. I started my search for a landscaper by trying to get info from homeowners who's Landscape I really liked. There was one house in particular that I always passed and always said to myself I love their landscape. I didn't know the owners but I decided to take a chance and knock on their door to see if I could get some info! Turns out the owner was a very nice lady and she gave me the info for Randy the owner of Chatsworth Landscaping. I called Randy and I was really impressed with his knowledge and years in the business. He also seemed like a genuinely nice guy. We set up a time for him to come by and give me a quote and share some ideas for how he might landscape my property. During the process of getting me a quote he took thorough measurements of my yard and gave me a very specific vision as to what he thought would work well based on what I was originally looking for. Randy followed up with a quote super fast. The quote was very detailed but easy to follow. Everything was specific and well laid out. His pricing was also fantastic. I decided to hire Randy for the job and all I can say is everything came out beautifully! One thing that always worries me when it comes to contractors and especially landscapers is communication and timeline. Randy was a complete breath of fresh air throughout the whole process. His communication was amazing and he was able to complete the job in the amount of time he said he would which is almost unheard of in landscaping. Also I wanna make a special note that his foreman Feliciano and his brother worked incredibly hard on my property and much of the time it was almost 100° outside. Not once did they complain or stop. My property now looks beautiful, is low maintenance, and very relaxing. I couldn't be happier with the work that Randy and his crew did. Would not hesitate to hire him one bit. We had the pleasure of having Randy from Chatsworth Landscaping redo the tired landscaping in our front and back yards. We were unsure of exactly what we wanted and had a few other landscapers show up for ideas and estimates. There is a whole range of ideas and prices out there. When Randy showed up for our initial meeting, we were both impressed with his thoughts for our project. Randy presented a real typed contract specifying exactly what was going to be done and the pricing. Due to the winter rains, our project was delayed quite a bit but after the rains subsided, Randy's two man crew (Feliciano and Arturo) came out for a few days to execute the plan. To say that we are happy with the final result is an understatement. We have received compliments from our immediate neighbors on the finished project. What a sweet find! If you're looking for gorgeous drought tolerant plants then look no further. They have a variety of drought tolerant succulents and herbs. Becky the owners is very kind and so is Santiago the head ground keeper. This is a family owned very old school establishment. Bought a beautiful lavender five gallon size for $16 and a bag of all purpose fertilizer for $6.99. There is a bit of a higher price tag, but I like their brand and the people working there and the overall experience. Parking lot is a little small but they can accommodate at least half a dozen cars and probably more if double parked. They line your car up with a plastic sheet, feel free to bring a reusable tarp of your own if you want to be more environmentally friendly. They are closed Sunday's. They do not have veggies or too many fruit, this nursery is ideal for landscaping. read more

First, let me start with the fact that Randy didn't even notice this review until 7 months after it was posted. Second, when he didn't notice it he called me to harass me. I told him everything I wrote in the review was 100 percent accurate. Then he said: "Writing a review wasn't manly" He got so angry on the phone that I had to hang up. As he said in his follow up that I should have called him to let him know. We did call him several times and when we finally heard back the response was "We're too busy to come service the job." That's half the reason I wrote the review, he was so focused on getting more money from the other rebate people that he didn't care about servicing his own work. Yes, he's been doing this a long time, and that's why his ways, designs, and methods of dealing with clients is very antiquated. He'll say whatever he needs to, to get the job and then he'll do whatever he wants after. Use him at your own peril. read more

I can't say enough good things about Chatsworth Landscape and Nursery. The owner, Randy Mineo, recently completed his third job for us. He has removed and replaced all of our grass and shrubs with drought tolerant plants and decorative ground cover (decomposed granite, boulders, red brick gravel and stone gravel). Randy has excellent design skills. He makes suggestions but also listens to the customer's ideas. He has been a landscaper for many years. Randy's estimates are priced fairly. He takes great pride in his work. He is dependable, on time, and communicates well. Randy stands behind his work and has come back to fix any issues or replace plants that have died. His crew, headed by Feliciano, are some of the hardest workers I've ever seen! Feliciano is also helpful and knowledgeable about all aspects of the job. I think this little gem is overlooked when passing by, but they've remedies things by improving their signage. It caught our eye, and we were blown away by the spacious property. It looks like a tiny little spot, but it's huge! Lots of native plants, all incredibly well kept. There was always a friendly face to ask if we needed help and they patiently answered all of our questions. You could really spend a good hour looking at everything. We could tell that the owners genuinely care about their business. And they let me use the restroom! That's a huge deal for me, as many outdoor nurseries that I've been to lacked a public facility. What a completely pleasant surprise! I've driven by this nursery 100 times I'm so glad I stopped in today, I will certainly come back. I'm changing out the fussy, high-maintenance plants in my yard and this nursery was full of low-maintenance, drought tolerant, hummingbird attracting plants. The prices are beyond reasonable (less than $10 for a gorgeous lavender) and the owner spent a little time explaining to me what to expect from each plant I had picked and how to best take care of it. I had Chatsworth Landscape put in a drought tolerant landscape in my front yard and the results were fantastic! The design was very well done with flowering perennials, decomposed granite and colored rock. My yard is now the showplace of the neighborhood. He told my husband and me how to take care of the decomposed granite around the plants once we have heavy rains. He also had his guys replace the plants that died, build up the decomposed granite around the plants, and he included adding some Bender board around my mailbox with some colored rock to accentuate my new mailbox we put in. We hired Randy and his team to design a small/medium backyard with play area for our kids and entertainment area for family gatherings. Randy really came through with his ideas, pricing and execution. His team worked three days straight and did an amazing job. The new lawn and play area look amazing. The sprinkler system works great and it's super easy to use. Randy also left instructions for proper care of lawn, water use and recommended fertilizers to use throughout the year to keep our lawn looking great. The day I purchased over a 100.00 in plants I received questionable service. I told myself I would not return. One of the plants I purchased died the same week I bought it . Unable to return for 3 weeks I went into the nursery today. Wanting to exchange the plant . I got the 3rd degree making me feel like a liar. After multiple purchases at your place in the hundred you would think you could return an $18 plant and have your customer feel better instead it was more important for the female at the front with the short blond hair to tell me that basically her plants never die I must've done something like not water it. Personally I will never shop there again I think it's crazy to go to a place and get crappy customer service. I mentioned that I was going to yelp my experience and let people know the crappy service I received and she proceeded to tell me that they have good yelp reviews not concerned about the one I was going to give her. I reluctantly withdraw a reference I previously gave for Chatsworth Nursery And Landscape, but I must. Randy planted three roses and six drought-tolerant plants six months ago, plus installing water bubblers. One rose died almost immediately, and one succulent died after two months. Randy claimed the succulent died from too much rainwater. He replaced both. The succulent is now dying - he now claims [without seeing or checking] from too little water [bubbler he installed flows directly into the plant, plus hand watering when dry]. Randy is "...too busy to come to check, and I should have my gardener check." The gardner says there is sufficient water flowing. The only conclusion seems to be poor quality plants from CN&L. Check your references and warranties when dealing with any landscaping company. read more

This nursery does not warrant their plants so, when you purchase plants there, and they do not survive, they will not replace them. I purchased 10 plants there on 5/21/16 and three of them died. I tried to have them replaced on 6/1/16 and was refused. I told them I had watered the plants and they did not look good when my gardener planted them. My gardener thought they might come back but, they did not. The nurseryman said they died because they were not watered, effectively insinuating that I was a liar after I had told him that they were watered. I have been living in the Valley for 60 years and I have never dealt with a nursery that didn't warrant their plants in some way. You are much better off buying from Green Thumb where the plants are healthier and cost just a few pennies more. Green Thumb warrants their plants for three months. read more

Really cool selection of drought tolerant plants, but they're filled with spiders and weeds. Brought back a bunch of succulents and cacti and the bottom of the buckets were filled with black widow eggs. So that's been fun. The nursery itself is very jam packed, so it's difficult to get around and a lot of plants are destroyed because of it. Some of them you can't even get to because they're growing into the ground through the buckets. I also purchased a $120 agave and although my boyfriend said he could put it in the truck safely himself, the men working there insisted to let them do it and they literally destroyed the agave by putting it on its side. We're thankful that they allowed us to return it, but still... About half of the plants I purchased actually died. It took a few weeks to save the rest and they are doing fine now. My advice would be to just be careful, with any nursery really. If you're looking for quality, head over to Sal's Cactus Mart in Filmore, he's a lot cheaper and much more attentive to his plants. read more

As soon as I walked onto the property, I was blown away. All of the plants look amazing. As soon as I arrived, someone came and asked me if I needed help. He was just a kid, but very knowledgeable and helpful. He helped carry all of the plants to my car and did not rush me for the hour I had been there. The man that rang us up hinted that they had been closed for 45 minutes. I felt very bad, but I cannot say enough good things about this place. I would highly recommend taking your business to them.
