I spent ~$225 on the worst raincoat ever made. While the liner inside does a good job of keeping me dry, the outside of the jacket absorbs every drop of water that lands on it. Wearing a 5lb raincoat saturated with water is insane. Fast forward to today. I'm waterproofing some other clothing items and think to myself that it may be a solution for the jacket. If I could make my soft shells more water durable, maybe I could do the same for the outside of the jacket? No shot. After a delicate cold machine tech wash, I pull the jacket out and the inner liner is destroyed and coming apart (image attached). This was the first and only wash I've done on this jacket. Followed the care instructions and took even more care of it than labeled. So disappointed in the jacket and the brand. I've submitted a warranty claim on their site so we'll see what happens. Will update the review. *it's a little hard to tell the condition of the inner liner with a photo, but this jacket is unusable now. The neck area is the worst but the inner liner as a whole is compromised. read more

Great return and repair policy. Wanted a mini quick pack and stopped into this location to see their inventory. Was between the quick pack and mini quick pack but was able to see multiple color ways abs the canvas abs nylon mini quick packs. Lots of bags available. Hats, shirts, pants, jackets, etc. You can order online and they also have a location at Denver International too. More variety online and at retailers such as REI but it was well worth stopping into this store to see merchandise in person. Parking wise everything across the street and in the local area is available. Two hour plus parking but even seeing everything at this store you only really need thirty minutes to an hour. I was gifted a Topo hat ages ago and it still wears well and hasn't faded. Can't remember the name of the employee that helped me but she was super kind and patient. It looks great, but it seems to be more for hiking the airport or hiking the college campus or looking "Colorado cool" than for "All Trails" kinda hikes like I do. But it looks really good. I'll get one of their backpacks next time I hike to Starbucks for a latte. - There are many people like this too. They are superficial and shallow, and can't handle the hard stuff of life. I had purchased two backpacks on line late this summer. When one of the bags started to de-laminate, I reached out to customer service and we worked out dropping off the bag at their store versus shipping. They have a 100% lifetime guarantee and this fell into that scope. I decided I'd prefer store credit instead of another backpack and the sales associate communicated that with the customer support. By the time I got back to work, which was maybe 10 minutes, customer support had already emailed me my on-line store credit with a follow up email. Amazing customer service and the products are top notch that they will back on the very off chance there is an issue (my bag was one of 4 items we now own and a fluke). I purchased two of the waffle long sleeve shirts, one olive and one "natural", and both shirts were cut different. What I mean is that the body and sleeves on the natural are a full 1-2 inches smaller than the olive one. The sleeves are supposed to be 35.25" from center back neck and are 34" barely. I've done two exchanges in hopes of getting two shirts that are the same size, but this is apparently impossible. Their customer service on the issue has been lackluster to say the least and they fully intend to sell shirts they know are out of spec. For a company that "prides it's self on quality" and charges $80 for a thermal shirt it's pretty unacceptable. read more

I really wish there was a way to put more than five stars, because this company definitely deserves like a hundred. It was by my good luck that I ran across Topo Designs in a Tumblr post many years ago, it was a picture of a stylish looking backpack and thank goodness the link to their website was on that post. Couple of scrolls through their website and i was already in love, I was sold. I'm from Southern California and I really love to hike and go on adventures, so naturally I am constantly on the hunt for amazing backpacks. However, at the time, I already had an amazing backpack (a really cool nike one that's been with me for several years and in good condition) so I bookmarked the website just in case I ever needed to buy a new backpack. I would've just bought it right then and there but hey, I'm on a college student budget. I ended up getting the opportunity to buy one this past winter because my girlfriend was in desperate need of a backpack. She's a chemical engineering student and she takes her studies very seriously, which means she's always carrying a shitload of books. On top of that she's a competitive water polo player so she needs room for workout clothes, etc. With that being said, all her other previous backpacks have been demolished from the weight of all the books/binders she carries. I wanted to get her a reliable backpack that wouldn't get destroyed within a couple of months, so I decided to try Topo. I bought her the 22L Klettersack because I knew she'd need the extra space. I was a little concerned because she's 5'2" and I thought the backpack would be a little big on her, but it fits perfectly! Before ordering online, I called their store in Colorado and the guy who picked up spent like 15 minutes on the phone with me answering all of my annoying questions and giving me his opinion on which size, etc. He was super helpful and very friendly. The backpack itself is beautiful, super sturdy and simple-looking. It looks stylish and doesn't have all the unnecessary crap that you see on other backpacks. Very spacious comes with a laptop sleeve and water proof interior. Straps are extremely durable and easy to use, there's also a pouch on the outside portion. One of the best backpacks I've ever seen/purchased. My girlfriend loves the backpack and so do I, so happy with my purchase and I am glad to say I will be buying another one soon. I bought their 40L travel backpack in ballistic black. It's great. It converts to a shoulder bag (a heavy one) and also has handles on three sides. I've been using it for everyday carry as well. I stopped in to the Colorado store and bought a pouch on sale. It was well made. That started me on their stuff. I like to be a regular. You find a reliable brand, and it feels good to stick with it, so it's not just a fad. The two things I like are the durability of the fabric and the construction and the sturdy zippers. For comparison, I have used lots of Tumi, some Brenthaven, and Red Oxx. I looked at all sorts of backpacks, and this one was my choice for its capacity and design. There is a tiny issue, not a deal breaker, which is the laptop compartment requires a diagonal entry (the opening is not as long as the space); when the bag is full, it can require wiggling; when the bag is empty, it's no problem. read more

I ordered 3 things via the website, received a wrong tracking member by email, so sent 3 emails, trying to chat with them via the website... to solve the problem, they never replied. Needed to call and after they say it's at me to contact the company who deliver my package. After another email they did, they sent me another package with... only 1 purchases and I needed to pay UPS taxes for that. Where are my others purchases? Actually I don't know. I started out really liking this brand. They use a lot of fun, bold colors in their products. However, as much as I wanted to like everything I tried on, it just didn't fit. And I'm a very averaged sized 6 ft guy. Moreover, the prices are high and the three times I've visited the airport store the employee has stared at me as if I was crazy to walk in and try to buy something. I ordered a shirt online based off of their size guide that was way too large, and then when I exchanged it they sent me a hat instead of the shirt that I had ordered. It took 10 days for my first order to even ship, and by the time customer service has gotten back to me about my concern regarding the the item had already been delivered a week later. My impression is that this is a brand that likes to be cool and do business in a cool place, but seriously lacks the customer service and product utility to make it a repeat purchase for me. read more

I started off a big fan of Topo Designs. I purchased my first bag in 2014, back when all of their products were USA made. I always loved their designs of their bags and packs, but as of late I learned that they began to offshore their manufacturing, yet the prices still remain high. Now, this isn't to say the quality is reduced, but I am a little disappointed that the company isn't being up front about it with their products. Previously, an American flag would be proudly displayed on each of their products to signify it's domestic origins here in the United States. I purchased a bag lately, still believing that everything was American made, and the price I paid still led me to believe that I was receiving an American made product. Not that I have anything against products being made in Vietnam, but I believe that their flag should be proudly displayed on the bags, just like the American ones once were. On the website, I believe that country of origin should be displayed on each page, so that the returning customers can know that their products aren't always American made anymore. read more

This store has fantastic products hand made in Denver Colorado. I am an avid outdoorsman and recently picked up their Puffer Vest and Ragg Hat. I put them to test in the Colorado winter elements this past weekend and stayed warm and dry on a fly fishing trip in the snow. While I was in the flag ship store purchasing my products a local resident had brought in one of the bags he had purchased that had some sort of issue. Their staff took the bag back no questions asked to make the repairs as they stand behind their products 100%. The staff told me this policy stands true for all Topo Designs products. read more

I've given one star because Topo has lost me as a future customer. But please read the explanation as I think others might process this scenario with a different outcome. Topo Designs looks to be a maker of good-quality, premium-priced outdoor products. I've bought several (5) items that I'm happy with and use all the time. One product I purchased, a "commuter briefcase", looked useful but about three months after purchasing and using it I realized it is (in my opinion) poorly designed. It's meant to work as a briefcase and backpack but it's not well designed as a backpack so the bulky backpack straps just become a dangling burden. I contacted Topo to ask if I could return it for credit and received prompt and understanding responses from a real person. They didn't promise anything but said I could send it back and they would see what they could do. I did so, they accurately said it showed signs of use and said the best they could do is offer me a coupon for 35% off my next purchase (as an aside, I was surprised that their response seemed to imply they would have sold my return to someone else if it was in better condition). They offered to send the product back, but I'm already out an additional $20+ for sending it to them and don't even want to ask if what they would charge to send it back. I realize I probably should be happy with the future-purchase coupon. It's better than nothing. But I have become accustomed to certain shops that do better. Those that offer a satisfaction guaranteed return policy or something similar, with almost no questions asked. For example LL Bean, Zappos, Nordstrom, Tilley hats, even Amazon for many products -- there are quite a few. My understanding is that a return of this sort is viewed by them as the opportunity to secure me as a lifelong customer, and it works almost without fail. Although every communication with Topo was very courteous, I'm walking away with the feeling that they offer zero accountability for my satisfaction with their products and that they don't care about losing me as a customer. To them, I'm only as good as the next dollar I give them -- literally. A 35% coupon is similar to the sales discounts that most firms offer a few times a year, and most likely still gives them a profit all the way around; a somewhat hollow gesture that requires me to keep spending with them. Had they given me credit, the bottom line cost to them would have been minimal, since they already took in the full profit on my first purchase. I may still use the discount coupon but will do so begrudgingly and will not shop with them again. Topo's return policy does not promise satisfaction guaranteed, so I'm not asserting that they misrepresented their policy. It was an oversight on my part coupled with what I believe was a shortsighted response on their side. I asked them twice to reconsider, so I'm assuming their response was management policy not a rep error. It was my mistake and I'm posting this as a caution to others who might make the same mistake -- my advice is to consider purchasing from stores that aim to keep you for life, Topo unfortunately not currently being one of those. read more

I have made two purchases from Topo Designs and both have found me disappointed. The Klettersack was showing serious signs of disrepair within 3 trips. It was completely useless by the end of the 4th. The "WORK" pants are a complete joke. The crotch busted out within 4 months. I believe it is very important to support smaller, American-made companies but not at the cost of quality. Topo Designs makes boutique-y, fake outdoor gear that does not hold up. read more

I have liked the style of this company for years and finally saw that a bunch of their shirts were on sale (online) around the holidays for great prices. I decided to order a couple, and everything went through without a hitch. Then, a week later, out of nowhere I got an email saying that there was a mistake and the shirts I ordered were all out of stock in medium despite the site processing it no problem. I tried emailing and seeing if I could order something else, but their customer service didn't even respond at all. I just got refunded my money a few days later. These guys are dead to me. Came across this store while waiting for our brunch table at Snooze. Cute, colorful store, and very friendly staff. Bf is TOPO'd out and owns a Klettersack, Duffel, Dopp Kit, and Utility bag. Love the design of their products and that they are made in the USA. I ended up getting a Rover Pack and took it with me hiking in Colorado and Utah. It is spacious with different compartments, and can also hold water bottles. It is more compact than the Klettersack, which is perfect for shorties like me. This is CITY ONLY gear and should not be mistaken for anything related to the outdoors. Their gear does not use innovation or evolution of material. The bags are great if you want to fit one climbing shoe and your harness, a small box or anything with right angles. The gear is impractical and focused to a non-outdoors demographic. I appreciate that it is USA manufactured but it it clearly sourced from all over the USA due to their outrageous prices. I would market it as the "City Slickers Urban Gear" and do NOT leave the city with it. On another note the staff is great! read more

I received my first TOPO product 9 months ago. I visited the TOPO shop 1 day ago. But I saw the link instantly. I own the Klettersack, with the leather bottom. It's a sturdy bag. Not as utilitarian as something you could pick up from Osprey, but better looking, and more casual. Go into the store and you can see more of the same, in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and ever-so-slightly vintage color palettes. These bags are great, and this tiny store is packed with them, as well as other bourgeoisie but brilliantly designed outdoors products. In my opinion, these are wonderful accents to a West Coast inspired wardrobe, but they're built to get knocked around, placed on rocks, and go hiking with you. That gives TOPO's products a great dual purpose approach. The people behind TOPO are awesome too. They'll answer any question, or barrage of questions, with a clear excitement for their products and their business. In other words, they give a damn, and it shows in both the customer service and the stuff they make and sell. Expensive? Absolutely. But well worth a visit all the same. Take in the Colorado made designs, and feel inspired to save - my Klettersack was well worth the investment in a shoestring budget, and I've already got my eye on the Mountain Briefcase for future consideration. And really, there's no replacement for seeing the product up close and personal. TOPO runs a great website and social media coterie, but you have to touch and feel the bags to get a sense of who and what they're for. This store is set up to do that admirably. read more

No worth it for the price. I should have done my research. The bag pack looks nice, simple, and unique. But it looks cheap, the plastics looked better on my Jansport back in High School. If you're looking for a nice looking bag just go with a Herschel for the price of Topo you're just getting the name. I love my Thule and that is better constructed and has better features and material and it was cheaper. 1st review just had too. 2 stars for the made in USA, I'm guessing this is the reason for the price.
