Jakes was there within 30 min and the car was gone. tow truck driver went above and beyond to hook it up. went the next morning to Avondale to get it and called AAA to have someone come replace the tire with the spare. because it was in a puddle the AAA (United) driver wasn't happy and was being stubborn and Jakes team was nice enough to get it to the parking lot in front of the building. for some reason, the AAA driver yelled something out of his vehicle door and took off from Jakes without changing the tire, and without telling me what was going on. Jakes team changed the tire for me. they didn't have to do that. so I asked if they had a part that my sister needed for her car and I bought it and was on my way. Jakes went above and beyond. all the guys were nice and friendly. just wish AAA would contract with Jakes.

Dropped it off by tow truck in the early afternoon, got a call right around when I got back to my office, and Sid told me it was the starter, he had assumed I was right and ordered the part right off the bat, and it would be ready by end of day. 6 hours without my car, half to two thirds the cost any mechanic I've ever used with a BMW has quoted me for a starter. My story: It is the law in Louisiana that any vehicle in a wreck is automatically required to be deemed totaled if the estimated cost of repair materials and labor equals or exceeds 75% of the car's Actual Cash Value. Collision XPerts ABSOLUTELY lowballed my estimate to keep it from being deemed totaled. Because of course...if the car is deemed totaled, Collision XPerts loses out on business! Thus, they lowball the estimate AND use cheaper, aftermarket non-factory parts on your car, which can actually void the warranty on many newer cars. I knew my car was going to be totaled, I just needed them to sign off on it. When they lowballed me to keep it under the 75% threshhold, they didn't expect I would have done enough research to know that they were full of shit. When I told them I was having my car towed somewhere more reputable, they tried their best to make that very, very difficult for me and I had to threaten them with legal action to get the keys to my own car back. One other note of concern that anyone consider it should know: this repair shop does not use protective crash wrap on cars, even when the car's damage renders a door or window being cracked open until it's repaired. My car's door couldn't fully close after its accident and it was sitting outside for DAYS, along with every other damaged car, with zero Crash Wrap and a well-publicized tropical storm just dumping buckets of rain into the cars. Will Collision XPerts do a decent enough job on your crappy old Nissan Sentra after it gets in a fender bender? Probably, sure. Go for it. But if you have a more expensive car, or if you're wondering if your car is totaled or not, they absolutely will be shady. And if you call them out on it, they will get more standoffish and try to coerce you out of taking your car elsewhere. Attached is a photo of a car which was just fully getting rained in because its door couldn't close and they don't use Crash Wrap. Avoid this place at all costs. SPECIAL NOTE TO THOSE INSURED WITH PROGRESSIVE: there's a reason that Progressive has Collision XPerts listed as one of their partners, and why they try to steer you to have your car towed here instead of anywhere else: because they know Collision XPerts will lowball your estimate to avoid the car legally being deemed totaled, thus saving Progressive money on your payout. In Louisiana you are legally allowed to have your car towed to ANY repair shop, not just the ones that insurance companies partner with.

I guess you don't always get what you pay for because, despite the high cost, they did a rushed job. The vehicle was smelling like burning oil; they didn't tell us that might happen. There was even white smoke coming out from under the hood: people in parking lots would ask if our car was okay... A knowledgeable friend said they hadn't taken the time to rinse the oil off the engine but it'd burn off in a few days. After 4 days, not only was it burning oil, but it was leaking oil. A retired mechanic told us to take it back because they must not have installed a gasket correctly. If they had taken a moment to pressure wash the engine, or to test drive the vehicle before returning it to us, we might have been saved a lot of headaches. They did repair it once we took it back to them. But, if they are going to charge triple for labor and parts compared to the previous mechanic, shouldn't the experience be hassle-free? It wasn't fun to feel like we were being gassed in our car.
