On Dec 8th, Tops and Trends will replace the convertible top on our legacy 2002 Mustang and, because of the excellent customer service, and verbal communication we've had, I know we will be well pleased. It was easy to make an appointment for the initial evaluation of the convertible top's condition and all estimates of additional services needed were reasonable. A bonus was the kindness the shop showed in accommodating a mistake I made regarding the time we had scheduled. The shop and waiting area are clean and the seats in the waiting area are comfortable. The rear window of my convertible had become disconnected from the frame. After asking around, Tops and Trends was recommended, including by the dealer. I called them to get an appointment and estimate. The work was completed on the day promised and on the estimate. When I picked up the car, the manager walked me out and explained why the problem had occurred, gave me an assessment of the overall condition and how to take care of the top. I am so glad to find Tops and Trends. Actually, they were recommended by Nissan. If you have a Nissan Rogue with a sunroof that's leaking, look no further. These guys know what they're doing. And you'll save yourself a lot of money versus going to the dealer who typically doesn't know how to fix this issue. I have already recommended to several friends. Ok y'all -- I'm going to spill some secrets I've learned from my recent car buying experience!! I bought a car from Sport Durst Mazda in Durham, and paid for added leather. They, and a lot of other dealerships, contract with Tops and Trends to install leather on their cars. When I called T&T to add leather to my car -- without a dealership -- they quoted me $1799 for leather matching the color of the interior of the car, or $1999 for a different color leather. For example: if you have a black cloth interior, you can get black leather for $1799, but if you wanted brown leather, it'd be $1999. Similarly if you had a grey cloth interior, you can get grey leather for $1799, or a different color leather for $1999. The pricing didn't really make sense to me. But, the dealership told me the cost of the leather was $1200. So in other words, T&T charges less for leather if you order through a dealership. If you're buying a car and know you will change the interior, talk to your dealership about rolling that into your financing or pay directly through them because it'll be cheaper. Note, some dealerships will try to make money off of this. Southern States Mazda in Raleigh was charging $1600 for new leather through T&T, whereas Sport Durst told me they'd charge me what T&T charges them - which is $1200. (Also note: this is why people hate car dealerships...all the games). I didn't have a great experience though. I was told T&T will come pick up my car, and even drop it off at my home, and that they give the best white glove service to customers. That was not my experience. I was told to drop off the car the day before my appointment, and that it'd take 1 day to install the leather. So I dropped off my car on a Wednesday night for a Thursday AM appointment. However, the leather didn't arrive on time for my appointment, despite the fact that I had already dropped off my car. Leather was going to take an extra 4 days to arrive, so I had to go without a car through the weekend. I know how there are shipping delays lately so was a bit understanding with this piece, though it did leave a weird impression. Then, my heated seats stopped working after they installed the leather. You can imagine how freaked out I was, as this was a brand new car. When I called them, they just told me to bring the car back the following day. Nevermind that T&T is 30 mins away from my home...but they didn't even seem apologetic, didn't offer to pick up my car, didn't offer any kind of recognition that this was a major inconvenience. When I brought my car in again the next day, it took an hour or so but they fixed the seats and sent me on my way. The quality of the work looked ok. The back of my seats are a bit baggy...so that doesn't look great. But overall, the seats look nice. I'm just not sure my experience matched up to all those who rave about this place. read more

I had a new top put on my 2004 mustang convertible. The stitching was coming undone and the window had pulled away from the top. There was so much flooding it caused the weep holes to plug and dumped water into the foot wells. I went in and Dustin helped me out immediately. He was amazing and spent so much time answering all my questions and showing swatches trying to match the color of the existing roof. Tops and Trends custom ordered the roof, replaced the heated glass window, and even widened the weep holes upon request. They found an issue with a hydraulic lift arm and fixed as well. The installation only took 3 days and I was updated via phone throughout the process. Great work. Highly recommend! read more
