This was a few years ago but I was recently reminded of it so I wanted to post a rating. My repair was during the pandemic to be fair. Dates and times seemed to be meaningless to Coats. Very few proactive updates. Quality of work was also poor. My bumper went in (TO COATS) color matched to my car. It came out not even close. When I asked about it the rep tried to give me every excuse possible to try to get me to be OK with it. Not good. Eventually they wore me down and I gave up. Congrats! I've had the fortune or (misfortune) to use Coat's Auto Body twice in the past six years. As a preferred State Farm Insurance option, I've used them for damage for my Mazda 3s. And overall, they've done a very good job in multiple situations. It took a bit of time to set up the initial review and assessment but once that was out of the way, things went quickly. The estimate was extremely detailed and there were regular text messages and updates over the course of nearly 3 week my car was in the shop. And in the end, I couldn't actually tell the difference between the side of my car which was damaged vs. the undamaged side. So great work! While I don't think Coats is inexpensive, for insurance work they are a good option. Excellent customer service, great repair work and great communications. I ended up bringing my 2022 4-Runner to Coat's body shop and I could have not been any happier! I was at a dealership who was charging an arm and a leg for parts and labor. Once my car finally got towed over to Coats I was greeted with their general manager Peimon who we talked about what needed to happen to fix my car within a solid budget. He was more than willing to help me out. They handled everything! Called my insurance to make sure I wasn't paying anything out of pocket. I will always bring all my vehicles and recommend everyone to go there. They do amazing work and their staff is very nice. Amazing, fantastic, so happy! After a nasty ice storm we had, I unfortunately used an ice scraper to "tap" off ice all over my car. It left major scuffs & some dents - it basically looked like my car had serious hail storm damage. I had taken my car into Coats for an estimate. Roger was extremely thorough in estimating all the damage & what it would take to repair. While he wasn't the most friendly & pleasant person, he was extremely thorough & knowledgable. Sadly, he initially told me three weeks for my repair & I couldn't get my car there to work on until three weeks later. The estimate was extremely high, but I had taken it elsewhere for a second opinion & they were more expensive. So I felt good with Coats doing the repair. Plus, they came highly recommended from my insurance company. Thankfully, they had an Enterprise Rent-a-Car rep on site, so I could set up my rental. When the day finally came to drop my car off, it was a pretty efficient process. I got there at 7:30, but had to wait until 7:45 for the Enterprise rep to get there. Happily one week & five days later, Roger called me to say my car was done. When I arrived, it was waiting out front & it legit looked like a brand new car! I almost cried. They cleaned it up inside & out, so it was almost like I was buying my car all over again. The front desk girls checked me out quickly & I was on my way. My wife had a pristine car. It needed one simple repair and she went through all the proper channels with the insurance company to ensure the repair was going to be made appropriately. She's super thorough. Her insurance recommendation was to take it to Coats despite their quote being $300 higher than the company we were familiar with. Long story short, they broke the windshield and charged her insurance company. When she finally got the car back home several days later, they had left some caustic residue on the car that ate through the metal. She took it back in the very next morning. The dude was an intimidating and disrespectful jerk asking my wife if she was calling him a liar. Side note: my wife has only complained about service one other time in the 10 years I've known her. They couldn't fix the problem so instead decided to lay the blame on my wife and say it was her fault. He was offensive, accusatory and instead of finding a shred of empathy, chose to win an argument. If you take your car to Coats, I recommend also bringing your attorney. In the age of evolved customer experience, these guys are cavemen. Give your business to companies that care about their customers. read more

Do not take your car to Coat's Auto Body and Paint! They do not stand behind their guarantees! They painted my bumper and gave me a guarantee for as long as I owned the car. I called them stating there was paint chipping, the bumper was coming loose and there were small cracks in the paint of the bumper. They didn't even have any info in the computer on my guarantee. I had to scan to them the final invoice and a copy of the guarantee. When I went to have them take a look at the bumper, they wouldn't even let me in the building stating their front office was closed and that they would come out. Even though there is a pandemic occurring, there are plenty of places open for business where you just have to wear a mask and social distance. I believe it was unprofessional to have you wait out in the cold for them to come out to inspect your car. They looked at the bumper and told me that sometimes people will hit your car in a parking lot and not leave a note and that is the reason for the paint problems and bumper pulling away from the car. I asked them why was there no dent in my car if someone supposedly hit it, they said it's because the bumper is plastic. GTFOOH! No one has hit my car! Do not take your car to them. Terrible service and work. My car leaks water from underneath now anytime it rains. They painted over the clear door edge guards and painted the car the wrong color three different times. It took nearly seven months and five different visits to get the car anywhere close to being done right and not a single penny of money was refunded to me though I lost huge amounts of work time and never got the attention or quality I paid them for. Coats baked a "run" of paint into my rear quarter panel and because I made a comment about it they refused to repair my car the next time someone hit it. One time they over-sprayed paint onto my headlights. They told me that wasn't what it was but I took it to another body shop this week (due to another incident in my parking deck) and when I picked it up today, my headlights were as clear as if they were brand new.... because the new body shop removed the overspray off my headlights. They were not asked to do that but my lights are now clear because they detailed it after they repaired my bumper. Granted the overspray was not that noticeable, it's just the principle. Someone walking off the street may not have noticed it but I did because I'm very particular about my car. I was planning on hiring Coates to re-do the run of paint when this new incident happened but I received a call and and was told they would not be able to help me because I complained last time!!! I pay for perfection and that's what I expect. I Have used them several times but the last two times I was not 100% satisfied. read more

Incredible customer service and above & beyond repair. I got into a fender bender in my clunker of a car and unfortunately the damage just had to be fixed. Because it's a beater and I'm looking to buy within the year, I was not willing to invest much in the repair. Coats figured out a brilliant temporary solution and it looks better than new! So impressed with the work. AND they touched up an entire side panel that I said I didn't want fixed because it was from previous damage at no extra charge. Truly unbelievable in a world of hustlers. AND that's not all... I rented a car for three days expecting this to take a while. I dropped it off at 7:30am and they were finished by 4pm. Less than one day... I was also able to just leave my Enterprise rental car at the shop and head on my merry way. Estimates were emailed to me within the hour and everyone with whom I spoke was extremely salt-of-the-earth, kind, smart and efficient. Got rear ended and my bumper was mangled. Brought it to Coats at the recommendation of the at fault drivers insurance co. My car is almost 17 years old and I was worried about paint matching. Coats had my car for 4 days and they did a great job. Picked it up yesterday and the bumper matches perfectly. They even cleaned the entire vehicle inside and out. I had an experience with Coats this summer; bringing in one of our vehicles for repairs after being rear ended. I specifically went well out of my way in terms of distance to choose Coats because of their high ratings. I wanted a shop that would do a meticulous and professional repair job right the first time so I wouldn't have to deal with any sort of residual issues. Unfortunately, I didn't find this to be the case dealing with Coats. Although the staff I interacted with were friendly, I got the impression the shop itself is a high yield, high churn shop possibly due to their insurance related affiliations. In that process, proper attention to detail and quality were well below what you would want for an auto body shop. When I went to pick up my vehicle after repairs had been made, I had to come in after hours so there was no one to voice concerns with. Initially getting into the vehicle, I noticed the interior was soaked i.e. there was pooled water in the drivers side door pockets. It didn't take long to realize that no one had closed the windows from a heavy downpour earlier in the day. After moving the car to a nearby gas station with better lighting, I also quickly noticed some small dings/light scratching in the vicinity of the rear bumper that had not been there before and some clear coat overspray on the side of the rear bumper. The next day I called Coats and was told to bring the car in. I met with the manager and assistant manager who confirmed the scratching may have been their fault but they wouldn't accept liability on the small dings. In his words "if all their customers came back complaining about small dings on their vehicles after repairs, they would be out of business". After the assistant manager tried to pass the dings as having been there prior to the repairs, I explained that the vehicle is only driven about 500 miles a month at most, I have had it since it was first purchased, and its always garage kept. I am keenly aware of the condition of the body. But I quickly saw it for what it is and knew there wouldn't be a chance they would accept liability and I had no way to effectively prove that they dings were their fault as I didn't take photos while doing a walk around prior to taking the car in for repairs. Lesson learned. If you do choose to bring your car here, I would highly recommend taking detailed photos beforehand and doing a walk through with the agent to mutually acknowledge any existing damage prior to repairs so you don't end up trading one dent for another. Otherwise, if you're looking for a high end quality focused shop, this isn't it. read more

Amazing customer service! Brought my car in for an estimate, had never been before. The office was very comfortable, especially for females. They were so personable!
