I'd watch Fox 29 Buffalo often because the best cartoons were on this channel after school and on Saturday mornings. I'd sing along to the jingle while watching the commercial. Well, the jingle and commercial are now a fond memory, except when I sing it. However, Tops Friendly Markets are still alive and kicking! A couple of weekends ago, after having been in Niagara Falls for a couple of hours, I needed to get grocery items before checking in to the hotel. I saw this Tops as I was heading over to Duff's for a late lunch. It was the perfect place to shop. There is a lot of parking in this lot. This Tops also has a gas station across from the store. I parked and walked in to check out the store. This supermarket has a recycle centre to the right of the main entrance. It's good to know. I grabbed a shopping cart and began to browse. It's a cool supermarket. Items are nicely stacked. It's clean. I saw vending machines that sold lottery tickets. Cool and different! I needed some fruit. I found pineapple chunks that were discounted. Perfect! The produce section was awesome. The fruit and veggies were fresh and in great condition. I was happy with getting a couple of lemons. I got some pop. It had a good deal on both bottled and canned pop. I was happy that I drove across the border. I knew that I couldn't drink it all, so I took some home. I hadn's seen RC Cola in eons! The beverages at this store are great. You can find everything from Canada Dry cherry ginger ale, to Snapple in both regular and sugar-free versions. Yay! I liked the jam and honey sections. The former had Smuckers sugar-free jam varieties in squeeze bottles. I was impressed. The latter had raw sugar that I like in squeeze bottles, too. I was a happy camper. I decided to use the self-checkout kiosk. Mine wasn't co-operating for some reason. An attentive male staffer came over to help out without my even saying a word. He entered a special code and the kiosk worked. Service was that prompt at a self-checkout area. Wow! The kiosks accept credit and debit cards. It liked my Canadian credit card. I paid, bagged my items with my own reusable bags, and left. It's a great grocery store. If I had stayed longer in Niagara Falls, I would have hauled more items or had revisited this store. (143)

Maybe Tops should not stock products that try to sneak 25-30% less in the packages past the customer, hoping you don't realize or remember. Some long lines due to few cashiers or checkouts open. They have fresh, delicious food- and a wide variety of it! I want to focus my review on a positive customer service experience I had. Recently, I placed a large Meals2Go order through the Wegmans app. When my order arrived, we discovered that one of our subs had been mixed up with a sub from someone elses order. Unfortunately, it was for the one gluten free person in our party- so, she was out of luck food-wise until we could get this fixed. When I called the store, they were apologetic and offered a great solution. The manager on duty offered to drive over our sub for us and managed to get it over to us within about 40 mins. She was incredibly apologetic and included a handwritten note, a tub of regular cookies, and a pack of gluten free cookies too! I appreciate that they went above and beyond to fix what could have been a night ruining issue. Wegmans has always been good to my family over the decades and that incident was no exception.
