It was our first visit to Tops supermarkets and our impression was fine. The decor is bright, clean and wide-spaced. The overall environment is well-maintained. The fruit and veggies look pretty fresh and delicious with reasonable price and a great variety. We also love their pastries and bought a box of sweet rolls & chocolate muffins.

We booked an airbnb in Tannersville to celebrate my sister's birthday, so we went to the Tops Friendly Market at 6350 Main Street to get some steak, cake and beer. Everything was fine until we got into the line and met the cashier named Karen; she was chatting with a customer in front of me, then she pointed at me and asked me to step back for multiple times (which I was already six feet apart), the tone of her voice was very loud and rude. I stayed a little bit and watched how she treated other customers who were in the line after me, and it turned out pretty normal. She even chatted with a customer without a face mask. Corporate leaders may not be able to change the world, but they can certainly change their world if they can teach their staff with basic courtesy and "Racial Equity in a Workplace"!

Thankful this store exists as there is no other supermarket nearby. Clean and well-stocked.

This is a really great store in the middle of the Catskills. When an outdoor enthusiast thinks of…read morethe best outdoor store many from NYC will think "REI" well I'm here to tell you this store could be an REI annex (it's not) because it's got amazing quality gear just like the big box store. While the store itself is small it doesn't necessarily need to be large since it's the perfect solution if you are in the area and in need of replacement equipment. Why replace what you need with garbage when you can likely find a quality brand we know and trust at Camp Catskill. The selections of items in each particular outdoor category is small but the owner has arranged each section of the store to provide for the needs of almost any outdoor enthusiast that might stop in to replace equipment or get new stuff. The store is stocked with clothing, hiking gear, camping gear, outdoor accessories and even a small selection of boots. While the selection of boots is small if you find yourself on trail with an unexpected broken boot rest assured you don't have to go far to find a quality boot to get you back on trail especially if you are in the area for a few days camping. I stopped in and left with a shirt and fridge magnet. Not sure why in my old age I seem to be collecting fridge magnets but I find myself buying more of those in my travels.

If you lose money in the machines here on a weekend, the weekday employee will call you a liar and…read moreinsist that because someone with no money has lied in the past, any regular customer must be making up a story for a few quarters, unless the employee saw the machine malfunction in real time with her own eyes. Um...okay. Who would bother to do that? People do! Cool...how did she know the others were lying? The security tape. Ok let's check that then. Oh, we can't, it's at the owners' house. Ma'am. Really? I'm not a petit larcenist with a cunning plan to enrich myself fifty cents at a time. I'm a middle-aged local homeowner who occasionally needs to wash a duvet. Can you seriously not tell the difference? Everyone in Hunter/Tannersville has lost quarters over the years in this joint's frequently-broken dryers. I've never bothered to report it because I'm usually here at the weekend or evening, but it adds up. Point being: they are definitely collecting more quarters for services not provided than they have ever been asked to refund. So why instruct/allow staff to instantly assume a hostile, argumentative, and condescending stance when a customer dares to report an issue? It's frankly kinda shocking. (Though maybe not--now that I think about, I've heard this employee being gratuitously rude on a prior occasion.) Perhaps the owners think that customer service and basic courtesy aren't necessary when you're the only option in the village, but there are laundromats down the mountain, staffed by professionals who don't automatically hate and suspect anyone they don't know personally. That's where I'll be taking my business from now on. And honestly it'll be worth the drive to avoid the godawful Corporate Country music station this place blasts at monster-truck-rally volume day and night (a lowkey act of aggression in itself). Anyway, if you're stuck with no other option, be sure to video yourself as you feed money into the machines. And bring your noise-canceling AirPods.
