What a phenomenally mismanaged location this is. Every single thing was a clusterfuck, no one knew what was going on, employees were arguing with each other, my beers were lost and then not repoured so they were warm, and my order came out cold after 45 minutes and I had to keep checking on every single thing. No one gave a shit. Their system is all over the place with their trackers. Like ... if you're sitting on the patio, a little mat needs to be there for your tracker to work. If it's not, no one is coming and no one will notice. Also, sometimes they pick the mats up when it previously rained? And sometimes the tracker buzzes, but it's not supposed to. But don't take it up to the counter, they'll ignore you. And don't let them take it if you have more food coming, because then they can't find it. And also keep the tracker flat on the table. And also they don't tell you any of these rules when you order. Love when a restaurant wields their tiny amount of power to inconsistently enforce unposted rules. Not dog friendly like all other Torchys. It is stated on their website that dogs are welcome however upon arrival they informed us they we couldn't even sit on the patio with our dog. Absolutely frustrating. read more

This Torchy's is pretty hit or miss. It has super busy lunch times and staff is typically apathetic. The queso is usually good. I like the salsa and avocado they toss into the queso. The chips are also usually pretty good. They aren't too salty or greasy. I recommend ordering the Democrat. read more

I've been to many torchys and they never disappoint. You enter and the bar is right at the front. I decided to have a beer and the bar tender recommended the taco of the month. I went there last night and got a simple order, a bean burrito with sour cream and cheese... easy right? Apparently not! When it came out it had a vegetarian sticker on it, and inside the burrito was a bunch of peppers! I usually would've just picked them out, but there were to many dang peppers in there to do that! I've always been super nice to servers because I know they're just trying to please their customers, and the job can be hard sometime! Heck, I've worked as a server, so I know what the job is like! I didn't want to cause a problem so I told the cashier my burrito didn't come out as it should've, but I was willing to pay for a new one! I told her it had peppers on it, and to quote her exact words, she said "Oh, it shouldn't have come with peppers"... but she still made me pay for a new one, first shocker of the night! When my burrito came back the second time I asked the server very nicely if she could check my burrito since it had a vegetarian sticker on it once again, and they had gotten it wrong the first time! she was gone for about 15 minutes so I assumed it turned out wrong again! When my third burrito came out the waitress was rude and just dropped the burrito in front of me and left... but guess what, the burrito had peppers in it AGAIN! The manager finally came up to me and said "when you order a vegetarian burrito it's going to have peppers in it". I told her that I ordered a burrito with just beans, cheese, and sour cream! I went on to tell her that I was nice enough to go up and pay for a new one because I didn't want to cause problems, and she said rudely "Why would you do that? There must have been a communication problem, the cashier must've thought you were getting something else". Note what the cashier had told me earlier, "There shouldn't have been peppers on there"! The cashier knew my order was messed up, and I told the manager that! When my burrito came back the fourth time it was finally right... FOUR TIMES Y'ALL! She also gave me my cash back for the second order, but she was very rude about it! She dropped the burrito in front of me too! They made it seem like I was the problem when I was very nice and patient with them! I can't believe I'm leaving this comment because I always try to lift the servers up and make them feel appreciated, but being a past server myself, their customer service was just horrible! This place is just okay. I think it's over priced and I'm not a fan of waiting in line to order food in a sit down restaurant. You apparently have to be in the know to get several of their best items because they're not on the menu. We probably won't be back here. read more

Returning to the first Torchy's that I ever went to; read the original review or my relatively recent one of the Lubbock Torchy's for specific details on other tacos that I've tried before and general thoughts. This is mostly just to discuss the new ones that I tried on this trip. As usual, I tried three tacos: the Alabama Shake, Mr. Pink, and the Baja Shrimp. The first one is one of the new ones that they rolled out just today actually. The Alabama Shake was probably the best; the fish was very well-cooked, lightly-battered, and of a good consistency for a fish taco (somewhere between falling apart and chunky). The peppers also add a good textural contrast. The Baja Shrimp is a pretty standard shrimp taco. It's well-battered, more so than the catfish. Probably the highlight of it is the pickled onion, which adds a strong, sweet tang to the taco, without overly dominating the shrimp. Good visual contrast too. The Mr. Pink was good, I'm just not a big tuna person, and I more typically have it raw than grilled, so it's hard for me to comment specifically. I felt like it was well-cooked and seasoned, but it was not the most dominant flavor in the taco if you put any sauce on it. Cheese is also hard to detect. The tacos would rate somewhere in the 4.0-4.5 range; as usual, they are kind of pricey compared to your average taco. The drop-down in rating is because of the service, specifically how long it took to get my food. When I went it, it was like 8-something PM on a Wednesday, so basically the restaurant was a quarter-fill with a 2-minute wait to order. It took 26 minutes (I timed it) to get my three tacos; in that time, a family of 5 who ordered ahead of me got their food, ate it, and left, and most people who came after me, regardless of whether they got it to-go or in-house also were eating before I got my food. I realize that seafood takes a little longer than something like an avocado, but even this seemed a little long. I feel like if it will take significantly longer than a non-seafood taco order, they should say something just to clarify when you order. Brief update from 7/14/17: Went back, got the Tipsy Chick, a Mr. Orange, and the chips with queso. The Mr. Orange was better than the Mr. Pink, but I admittedly eat more cooked salmon than I eat cooked tuna. I feel like having the corn and beans on it added a better textural contrast to the taco (the Mr. Pink has less stuff). The Tipsy Chick was really good; this may be because it was really loaded, the most of any taco I've ever had here. The chicken was well-seasoned and could be a stand-alone item, which is always a good sign. Even though it's still fajita chicken, it tasted better than the actual Chicken Fajitas taco I had in Lubbock a few days ago. The corn definitely added both texture and flavor, and whatever sauce is on there is bomb. I would note that the spinach seemed totally unnecessary. I'm not a big spinach person in the first place, but it just gets kind of soggy and to that unpleasant chewy middle-ground if you don't eat it on the spot, and it's not like spinach has much flavor in the first place. Chips are chips; the queso is the best I've ever had. Definitely would get that again. read more

Good food, the brushfire was good... Jalepenos + jerk chicken with mango was a nice balance although the Diablo salsa definitely tipped the balance to spicy. The food was good, perhaps a little more pricy than I would have anticipated given the size of the food but not outrageous and certainly not too high to come back for more next time I'm in the area! read more

Great food, but one bad experience and we're no longer customers. We did take out and trusted the order was correct. We got home and had been shorted two tacos. We don't live close so didn't drive back. I called and spoke to a manager who generously offered to credit our cc and send us a gift certificate for a free meal. I travel a lot.....a lot. Business brought me to the wonderful town of Amarillo and was looking for something unique but the City of Amarillo should be renamed the "City of Steakhouses". I wasn't in the mood for steak and then saw Torchy's which I had frequented many times while I have traveled in TX and CO but was tipped off by my wonderful waitress about a SECRET MENU. Come to find out it's really not that secret but wished someone had filled me in on it sooner. Had the Missionary Style taco and wow. Now I can't wait until the next visit to try my new found menu. I really enjoyed The Democrat and Mr. Orange tacos. A little fishy tasting as compared to the other Torchy's Taco locations (Austin, Houston), but I guess you really can't get fresh fish around here in the Panhandle so I'll let that slide. Chips and salsa are smokey with just enough kick. The line looks daunting but the service is friendly and fast. The restaurant and restrooms are clean. Definitely recommend coming here for a different twist on tex-mex food. read more

The one was long at 3pm and stayed that way the entire time I wait for my to go order around 40 minutes. It was well worth the wait. The grande burrito was large and outstanding. The bonfire was spicy but not overly hot. Add more diablo sauce and it was just right. The guacamole is hand made and had a lot of lime. It was chunky and work great with the chips. The taco sizes are good and portioned and loaded with your filling choice. Meal for two with no drinks rand about $20. We'll have to go back and try their margaritas. read more
