I've eaten here a few times. It's my favorite place to get tacos. They have an option for pretty much everyone. Lovers of heat , bratwurst , chicken , beef & more. Not to mention the fact that their queso is the best that I've ever tasted. The restaurant is always clean, cool, and enjoyable. They have televisions that are usually streaming sports channels. They also have the option of making orders to go. I've ordered out many times and they've only messed the order up once. They were quick and friendly when rectifying the problem once we told them about the situation. If you order queso to go, they give plenty of chips. My sister and I ordered a pint of it and they gave us 2 paper bags full of chips for the small container of queso. Highly recommended restaurant for anyone who enjoys soft tacos. I can't help it...I love taco's and Torchy's does it right! The Baja Shrimp is Delish...I don't even mind that the service is way rude, like really super rude. Example: we picked up a to-go order, the bartender (which is where you pickup your take out orders)looked me up and down and apparently didn't like what he saw so he moved onto help the next person in line (who graciously told him to please help me, as I was next in line). I come here almost every week. The queso is worth coming in for. I usually get the baja shrimp and crossroads tacos and have not been disappointed. Seating is limited it can get crowded especially on Sunday's so prepare for a wait. Staff has always been friendly and I will keep coming in for some delicious tacos. read more

Torchy's is one of our weekend standbys. They have $3 Bloody Mary's (also mimosas and tequila sunrises) Saturday and Sunday so those are usually the days we visit for a late lunch. We always sit at the bar - I don't care for line service and by sitting at the bar we are able to order more drinks without having to get up and jump back in line, also you can keep a tab and pay at the end of your meal as opposed to paying up front. The bartenders are friendly and you can watch whatever sports games are on, as well. I have tried basically everything on the menu at one point, and my all-time favorite is off the secret menu - the Missionary Style Green Chili Pork Taco! Yum. It's really amazing. Yum! We are long time Torchy's fans from Austin who relocated to Denver, and all I can say now is that we don't have to drive all the way to Austin for a Torchy's fix! The food is great, reasonably priced, and creative. In fact, my better half is a writer, and in his Slow Burn zombie series the characters sit around after the zombie apocalypse and talk about the things they miss most...and one of those he lovingly called "the pinnacle of mankind's achievement, the Torchy's Taco." We really have missed it. Also, kudos to the staff...my fried avocado taco was actually better than an Austin Torchy's fried avocado taco. Completely unexpected. Well done. The only weird thing was the flies...need some fly protection! After googling it, we see this is an Amarillo thing, but it would be nice to ban those little guys and move them out to the porch. Really great food and atmosphere! I'm just passing through and it was a nice place to run into. Huge burrito and a lot of salsa for under $10. Really yummy. Wish I could have enjoyed a beer at the bar, tvs and good atmosphere. Tho no pets on their patio, and I had picked the place so my dog could get out of the car, so just don't bring Fido! I've been to Torchy's several times and I must say, I'm a fan!! The first time I went, I got the queso, which is AMAZING! Do not come here, and not get the queso. It is my favorite item on the menu. I also got the Mr. Orange taco. It is salmon and a whole bunch of deliciousness! I have had one other taco, but it just didn't compare to Mr. Orange. Another thing I find pretty special it their selection of fountain drinks. They are so yummy! Try the Mexican cola! I am giving four stars because, I talked Torchy's up so much to my coworkers that they finally came. . . and it was so aweful. Each taco I ordered was followed by "were out of that." I felt like I was in a movie because, it was THAT bad. Then we ended up waiting 45 minutes for our food. It was crazy. But that was one time out the the 10 times I have been and had such a wonderful experience. Helpful staff - it was our first time eating there, and the young woman at the counter was happy to explain everything to us. Our food was served quickly, dishes were cleared quickly, and we were checked on more then once to make sure we were happy. Food - the food was fantastic. My husband wasn't a big fan of the democrat, but that was just personal taste. I had the fried avocado and the Washington, and they were both delicious. Price - can't complain. My wife and I ate here on a Saturday night, we sat inside, the patio was busy which is great. This was our second time here. The first time it was great. The taste of the meal was real good, I had the spicy pork nachos, the wife had chicken tacos. The issue was the temp of the food, I would have given 4+ stars if the food had been warm. I would have brought it to the managers attention but we had been traveling and extremely tired. We're not sure if we are willing to try it again. This place was very busy. Ordered the grande burrito and Lil nookies. The burrito wasn't very good. It lacked flavor and meat. The Lil nookies are deep fried chocolate cookies and if you love super sweet food you'll love these balls of joy. Best part for me was the options from the soda fountain, black cherry my favorite. I've eaten Torchys many times out of their food truck when I have visited Austin. I always thought it was good, but now having one in Amarillo I have to say it's great. They use fresh ingredients and always provide quality food.The ace of spades (from the secret menu) was the tipping point though, which is a taco that has a jalapeño sausage link, a fried egg, brisket, green chili queso, shredded cheese, Diablo sauce, and made with a whole lot of love! This thing is huge and beyond delicious. The bar here too is very cool and has a modern look. They have avalanche from Breckenridge on tap which is a favorite of mine so points for that too! This place just became my favorite taco joint. You won't be disappointed. read more

My daughter and I were traveling through Amarillo and were so happy to see a Torchy's!! It was about an hour before they closed when we ordered. My daughters food came quickly, but after waiting 15 -20 minutes for mine I decided it was time to let someone know. It was quickly remedied and the manager, Snyder, came to our table to apologize. He was very nice and offered a generous compensation for the delay. The 5 stars is because the food was great (we actually went back for breakfast the next morning) and because the manager took care of the problem very efficiently. read more

Two of the best tacos I have had recently. The tortilla on the crossroads taco was fresh as were all of the ingredients. The brisket with chopped finely and easy to eat. The tomatillo sauce was extremely good. But my favorite was the brushfire. Amazing blend of flavor. The firey sauce was not hot enough. And I love the off brand soft drinks. We stopped at torchies after a long hike. We hit the church crowd which created a long wait and long line to order at the counter. The chips and queso were really good. This is a review for every restaurant and food truck that they have and I have been to. I recently moved from San Antonio to Amarillo (back to my hometown). Living in San Antonio, I had the luxury of being able to spend a weekend per month in Austin. While visiting Austin, I always had to stop by a Torchy's for at least one meal. When I decided to move back to Amarillo, I was thrilled to find out that Torchy's was expanding to our happy little-big city. I've tried just about every taco on the menu and all are exceptionally good. My usual go-to tacos are the Republican and the Dirty Sanchez, but like I said, you can't miss here. The street corn bowls are also really great and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for that Santa Fe style corn. I'd also like to mention that their breakfast tacos are top notch. Try the migas taco if you are there for breakfast. read more
