My husband and I decided to stop by for lunch today, as we have been fans of Torchy's Tacos for a long time and have been to several locations throughout Texas. This location in Amarillo was easily the worst experience we've ever had. Our visit started out fine, with a very friendly girl who was working the front counter. We ordered and sat down to wait for our meal without any problems. When our order was delivered, the avocado on both of our tacos was clearly expired. Both were brown/black. My husband told the girl at the front counter and she brought us each two replacement portions of avocado. However, the replacements were even worse than the initial portions we received. We were served a total of 6 slices of avocado that were covered in brown and black spots, that would be highly risky to eat. (Anyone with knowledge of food safety or common sense would know better.) At this point, my husband asked to speak to the manager, whose response was, "oh.. thanks for letting me know" in way that made it clear he didn't really care. He didn't offer to correct it. He didn't seem at all concerned. If anything, he seemed more like he couldn't care less about the quality of food his staff served. The tacos, minus the avocados, were stellar as usual. However the lack of interest and care of the staff and manager regarding the expired produce they served was very disheartening, frustrating and overall disappointing. read more

I have been here several times and I love this place. They have a bar, dining and patio seating. I am warning you the food here is addicting - they have a taco of the month & each month is different. I'm a huge fan of Torchy's where I live and though usually I don't go to places I can go at home when I travel I made an exception for Torchy's because it just sounded good for breakfast. I'd say the Torchy's here is almost as good as the one at home. The only difference I noted is that toppings on my trashy trailer park were a bit sparse compared to what I get at home and what I had on my migas taco (which was huge and awesome). I love the food they offer but the service at this location is so bad. Even before corona is slow. The staff seems to want to be doing anything other than working. I tried curbside today hoping for a better result, went during a slow time of day (not the lunch rush) and it still took forever to get my order. He lets me know the drink is ready but not the food. I love Torchy's and I come here often, but last Thursday (March 2nd) I had sat down for lunch and had some Baja Shrimp Tacos and the awesome margaritas and ended up getting food poisoning from the Tacos... It was the only thing I ate that day, and it was an obvious episode of acute food poisoning. Did not turn out to be a good weekend to say the least. I was so happy when they brought a Torchy's to Amarillo! I have been to the trailer park original and in Dallas, and this one holds its own! The staff is friendly and helpful, making sure they repeat your order to you to make sure they got it correct. Their green chile queso is a great appetizer, and I love their beef and chicken fajita tacos on corn. Be aware that you may need a fork to finish these tacos as they spill over the sides, but the mess is worth it! I look forward to coming back and eating here many more times before the summer is up! read more

Keep in mind I am not from Texas and I was asked to stop at a Torchy during my cross country road trip, so I already had high expectations. And dang superman, these were some delicious tacos. I especially recommends the fried avacado one. The sauce they have with their taco were incredibly tasty as well. Just as good as the Torchy's in south Texas! You have to get the queso because it is that good! My favorite tacos are Baja shrimp and the Democrat. Close seconds are the republican and trailer park. They also have taco of the month that rotates each month! House marg is also delicious! read more

Wow! What is going on at Torchys Taco, the queso is not done right at all tastes over cooked and cheese is more brown than its normally tasty orange color. When I normally order corn and flour/called tandem the corn tortilla is grilled to give it a bit of a crunchy texture. Not this time, soft and not tasty. My husband ordered two Roscoes and the chichen was burned!! And the waffle tasted like it was soaked in grease. This is not a cheap place to eat two tacos each with queso and chips. This place makes guest wear masks but allows the food runner to walk around the entire place without a mask on. He handles everyone's food since he walks it from the kitchen to the table. I have eaten here twice in a week since I was passing through on a trip. Last Sunday 9/15/19 we stopped in on our way out. We got there about 9:00am. The girl at the register who wears glasses was extremely rude and unprofessional. Our order took a long time. The man who brought it out was nice and apologized for the wait and said they were understaffed. I saw some employees stroll in while were there. Our food was good besides my Trailer Park which was over cooked and chewy. Came back through today at noon 9/22/19. Different girl at the register but still extremely rude. The other girl was up front also so no winning there. Well today she messed up my wife's order. The queso was good, my Trailer Park was good but my fajita taco was off to the point I left it. It may sound like I am being harsh on this location but I have ate at Torchy's before they left Austin and there are three in the OKC area where I live. This location is probably still better than a lot of places but they need some work to be up to the standard of other restaurants in the chain. The register staff where you place your order was excellent! The food was fairly good. The $8 if I rember correctly burrito was good and very small. It's about half the size of a chipotle burrito that is $6.50 for comparison. The cook came out to make sure my order was put in corectly. I guess not many order beans on the side. The dud that brought out the food was strange. When he brought out the queso and chips he spilled a quarter of the chips on the table and just walked off. Then when he brought out the burrito he just stared at us and we had to confirm twice that yes that is our burrito. I would say it's a ok place if you dont have any other choice. read more

What I can say is this...The Brushfire Taco is THEBOMB.COM. The red salsa is good. I want to say that the quesadilla was good too because my mini me gobbled it up!! And he also liked the red salsa. Busy place and has a small intimate bar. Although they could do a better job at keeping tables clean, it was a good experience. This used to be our go-to spot when our family is in Amarillo. We live in Austin, and get food from Torchy's all the time. The Amarillo location used to be consistently good and reliable. But the past two times we've gone have been really disappointing. We picked up tacos to go in November, and everything seemed okay. I was about to drive off and get back on the road, but then noticed my two tacos wrapped in aluminum foil appeared, by the lack of thickness, to be just wrapped single tortillas. I had ordered two Mr. Orange salmon tacos for myself, so I unwrapped both and discovered this must be what they're trying to pass as Mr. Orange today. Both were just the tortilla and a small, extremely thin piece of dried salmon meat, almost like salmon jerky or something. That was it: no grilled corn & black bean relish, no cotija cheese, no cilantro or lime wedge. Just a leftover piece of dried salmon on a tortilla. I guess they hoped I would be far enough down the road that I wouldn't bother turning back around, but I discovered this while still in the parking lot. I did take both miniscule tacos back inside with the receipt, and the manager corrected it. Then in January, our family gave this Torchy's another shot on our way back to Austin. Parked in the pick-up area, got our food, and drove off down I-27 toward Lubbock. About 15 minutes into the drive, we decide to start eating since it smelled so good. The plastic bag had our tacos and salad inside, and that was literally all we got. Was I supposed to mention on the order form that we actually planned to eat the food and not just display it on our dashboard? Not one napkin, no plastic wear, no dressing for the salad, no salsa or sauces. Food was good, but try driving and eating a salad with no utensils, napkins, or dressing. We just used some old toothpicks in the driver's console as utensils and a towel from the trunk as our napkins. We finished and cleaned ourselves up at a gas station restroom in Plainview. Too far down the road to turn around. I always tip 20%, so there shouldn't have been any hurt feelings from the server that would warrant making our meal unsatisfying and difficult. I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in town and give y'all another shot. But we'll either sit down there to eat or examine the order thoroughly before driving off. read more

My husband and I decided to stop in to the restaurant and get a to go order. I would say this was roughly 5 or six months ago. We walked in and were greeted by anybody at the bar, which we thought was strange being that they just opened an hour before. What I mean by that is they weren't packed at that point. We sat down and looked at the menu. A server came up to us and rudely asked what we wanted for lunch. We looked at each other and giggled because take it easy, relax. We ordered my husband's food and we went to the bar to pay for it. At this point, I believe she was an assistant manager... She was on the phone yelling at someone who decided not to show up for work. She continued on with her conversation and it completely ignored us. She was cursing on the phone and again, my husband and I laughed because we couldn't believe that we were being ignored and she just carried on her conversation. When she finally realized we were standing in front of her, she was still rude and took our order. The food was subpar and we haven't gone back since. If we want tacos... Don't get this review wrong, I love torchy's. Been going since they opened here and often go to the one on 1st in Austin. But the one in Amarillo has started slipping in the service department. I have had 4 terrible experiences in the past 3 months. each time our food was cold and tasted like they had cooked it and set it out a long time before we even ordered. One time I ordered a ranch hand and the beef tasted spoiled. I watched a woman employee go to the bathroom, come out to still buttoning her pants up (which leads me to believe she didn't wash her hands) and proceed to go into the back kitchen and shovel food in her mouth and started sucking on her fingers while she was prepping peoples orders. read more
