Great tacos and great service! Torchy's was one of the first restaurants I tried when moving to Baton Rouge and I was not disappointed. It's great choice if you want something convenient and delicious. Having the ability to order right as you walk into the restaurant along with never having to wait an excessive time for your food makes the dining experience wonderful. this place used to be my go to for a quick drink and taco with friends...NOT ANYMORE. The staff was incredibly rude when we asked if they would do to go margaritas. We didn't even argue with them when they said no. after that they chose to ignore us as we sat at the bar, and gave us DIRTY LOOKS. My husband and I recently moved to Baton Rouge, and I had never been to a Torchy's before today. I wish I had taken a picture of my food. It was fantastic. I got the Tipsy Chick taco, chips and queso, and a margarita. 10/10 on all that. Service was also fantastic. Charlie especially was so awesome to talk to and joke with while we were there. I've only been twice but I've been a fan both times. The trailer park tacos "trashy" style are great. I liked the Jamaican jerk taco as well. The friend shrimp was good. I got the grilled chicken salad and it was pretty good. I really didn't like the dressing but it was on the side so I subbed it for some kind of ranch sauce that came with a friends tacos. Okay... I have been consistently impressed by this new taco place near LSU and can't believe the price. Torchy's has a delicious and creative variety of tacos (many under 5$ and 1-2 fill me up!) and have a great beer and cocktail selection with some stellar margaritas. The service has been friendly and super fast. It's been very busy as it just opened, just as a fair warning to those avoiding crowds, however they do offer easy online ordering and pickup! Plus, they have a ton of outdoor seating since they are in Nicholson Gateway. You have to try this place out! I know I'll be back. read more

This bartender/server took her mask off every time she walked behind the bar and kept it off while serving and talking to customers at the bar. Fun environment with easy outdoor seating. It has a fun variety of tacos, but I wasn't blown away. Service was a little disorganized. Interesting variety of sauces to go with the meal. Had the Green Chile Pork and Brushfire tacos, but the best was the Democrat Taco--on the Democrat, the meat was flavorful and piled high and it paired really well with the sauce. After hearing this place hyped for many years by my stepson who lives in Austin, I was stoked when I found they were opening a BR location. Today I placed on online carryout order for one of each of the majority of their taco offerings, including a couple of their breakfast tacos, with the objective of sampling each one and choosing my favorites for future orders. They told me that since it was a large order, it would take a little longer, and that they'd be ready for pickup at 10:11. Yet at 9:51, before I had even left home, they texted me and told me the order was ready. By the time I picked them up and returned home, they were cold. I was hoping that they'd still impress me, but unfortunately, none of them wowed me the least bit. I found most of them to be dry and lacking flavor, not to mention one of them had a long wavy hair in it. Maybe this is one of those places where dining in makes a big difference. I came here in July. Our experience was TERRIBLE to say the least. We came in and ordered for carryout. They were out of most menu items but we settled for something else and they took our phone number "to text us when the food is ready" then they instructed us that we had to wait outside. We sat at a table, trying not to get rained on. Over an hour passed and we were still waiting so they came to tell us that they were running behind and it would be out soon. Another 30 min passed and I went to check again and they said they would go look and what do you know, the food was sitting on a table for who knows how long waiting for someone to bring it to us. The man apologized saying he didn't know how long it was there for. By this time we needed to leave, as we were in a hurry after waiting an hour and a half for 4 tacos. We left and ate en route to our next destination. They gave us the wrong order...I didnt have time to fix the issue at the moment so I filed an online inquiry. The manager reached out to me through email saying he wanted to make it right but then never responded to my emails or texts to the number he provided. Would absolutely not eat here again. Placed order online to pickup about 30 mins later,showed up and wasn't there, I was told 5-10 min delay. After 10 mins they said oh we can't find your order. After another 20 mins and assistance of a manager and a server, they found our food and it wasn't even hot. We tried 7 different tacos not a single one did I think "oh this is pretty good." Mediocre at best, especially for $4+ for one taco. I will say they were very full and not lacking in size, so if quantity over quality is your thing you may like the place. The guac was good and so was the queso, but not enough for me to stop here to get this. I would give Torchy's a five star but their lunch service sucks. They barely put ingredients on your taco. I had the monthly special "Texas Hottie" and their description is "Our #TacoOfTheMonth features a hottie chicken tender, cayenne sauce, cabbage slaw, chow chow pickled relish, honey and fresh cotija cheese with chipotle sauce on a flour tortilla". Mine ONLY had a chicken tender on a corn tortilla with hot sauce on top. Too little for $6. I also had my favorite, "Baja Shrimp", taco and usually has (I counted) 5 shrimps but today it had only 3. It was also missing the onions and wedge of lime. I was very much disappointed as Torchy's is my favorite restaurant of all time. Their dinner service is far much better since it is less crowded. I won't stop coming to Torchy's because it is still my favorite, but will only do for dinner. read more

The tacos are really good, although they aren't your typical taco. The green Chile queso is great. Their queso is definitely a tier above most places. I had the brushfire and the Democrat. This was my first time trying Torchy's Tacos being a city girl from New Orleans I am used to "Beer and Tacos" which is very similar it was overall a great experience the tacos was extremely good the flavor was welly proportioned. I've eaten Torchy's in Houston and Austin. Since it's opened here in BR I've eaten way too many times to remember. I've eaten all the tacos except the shrimp and the Mr. Orange. They're all great! The crossroads and the trailer park are my favorite tacos. The queso is also amazing. The guacamole is also really good. The environment and the service have always been great. Wish I could give 5 stars because I LOVE the food! But I had an experience yesterday that just left a bad taste in my mouth for the place. I finished my meal and went to the bathroom, where both stalls were occupied. No problem. I waited a couple minutes and the only sounds that were coming from the stalls were videos playing. No "bathroom" sounds. Just TikTok or YouTube or some shit. I waited in the bathroom for a total of about 8 minutes. No "bathroom" sounds at all during those 8 minutes. Finally, I hear a flush and a male employee walks out of the stall and straight out the door without washing his hands. If the employee actually identified as female, then I am sorry. But still, they did not wash their hands. That's gross. A female employee was in the other stall and washed her hands before she left. But the bathroom is not a place where employees should go and hangout on their break or to "escape" work. Maybe that's why the service is so damn slow bc they're all screwing around in the bathroom. read more

Torchy's is super good! Their guac is insanely fresh and some of the best I've ever tasted, and their tacos are super unique and flavorful as well!! My favorite is the "Trailer Park Trashy," and I've ordered two of these tacos both times I've ordered from here!! However, I will say that when I order online or over the phone, my order somehow always ends up being messed up.
