Food was amazing. I ordered thru a third party app for delivery so it wasn't hot, but it was still delicious. I got a few different things to try and while some weren't my favorite none were bad. Their rojo salsa is spicy and tastes delicious. I love this place, they never disappoint. Democrat 8/10 Queso & Chips 8/10 Brushfire 6/10 Salsa 9/10 Damn Good Tots 6/10 Crossroads 7/10

I hate to be the torchy's hater, because everyone talks so highly of this place! BUT, it is overpriced, overhyped, and over complicated tacos. First off, the service is great! The cashier/bartender was nice and helpful. After I paid, they gave me a zapper thingy for the wait. I assumed when it went off, I would go pick up my food. Nope! They came deliver the salsa first then tacos. The salsa was mid but probably the best thing on the menu. Even my drink was flat lol. I ordered the democrat, chicken fajita, and steak fajita. 3 was way too much! I tried them based off which one looked best. First up, the democrat. It was ok but nothing crazy. Second place, the steak fajita and it was very mid. Third place, the chicken fajita, it even looked gross. The steak and chicken fajita tacos both had freezing cold cheese on top of them and thrown salsa at the top. Not good. I wiped all of that off first and then I could stomach half the steak fajita. The chicken fajita was down right nasty!!! I only ate 1 bite and that was enough. An old fashioned taco is enough.

This place is in walking distance to all sports LSU. Apparently this is the meet up spot before women's basketball. The staff is really friendly. They have nice selection of cocktails and beer. The food was very plain, prices are not bad. I ordered the fried avocado taco but I couldn't eat it like a taco because it was more of an open face tact, that is was but the flavor were very bland, could have use some seasoning. The refried beans on the taco were very dry. My husband got a burrito. The burrito was large but the stuff inside needed to be applied more evenly because each bite was full of one ingredient instead of a blend. The food was ok besides that. Also, they have dollar off tacos during the week day for happy hour. The atmosphere was really nice. We sat at the bar with some regulars who gave us some pointers for next visit. Everyone was pleasant and kind.

Amazing tacos! Despite being busy on a Sunday morning, my order was made quickly and was hot and fresh. Definitely recommend the chorizo, egg, and cheese breakfast tacos.

Definitely the best Migas around, they make the best breakfast around hands down! I always use the app and order ahead and my food has been hot and delicious each time. The staff is friendly and range of tacos, burritos and their breakfast options along with drinks doesn't disappoint. Chips and queso are amazing and they offer numerous veggie options which I am very grateful for!

This spot is perfect for a quick bite. We tried the cheese queso, which was really tasty with a nice kick to it. I had the Crossroads taco, and it was fantastic. They pack so much meat into the tacos that you can't even close them completely--very impressive! I also sampled my daughter's Steak Fajita and Democrat tacos. They were good, but not quite as amazing as the Crossroads and Trailer Park tacos, which the server had recommended. We sat at the bar, though there was plenty of seating available. The server was incredibly friendly, and the food arrived just minutes after ordering. They also have a great selection of beers on tap, including Ghost and Juicifer.

In the heart of LSU, directly across Tiger Stadium. Food is always good. Introduce my son to this concept and he enjoyed it. Location was clean and wasn't too busy. It'll be crazy once school in session.

I just love Torchys sooo much!!! I tried the hillbilly queso this time and it was really good. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I had my go-to taco again which is the chicken fajita on a flour tortilla! Never disappoints. I also love adding on the green salsa that comes with it. It adds a nice spice to the taco. I pair all of this with a orange Fanta and it just ties it all together. Honestly one of my favorite meals to eat. The price is right, it's quick, and conveniently located.

I am hesitant to rate this based on the soft opening I attended on Sunday, so I plan to return a few times over the next few months to see if the amazing experience is continued, which I am sure it will be. The longtime question asking when will Torchys come to BR has finally been answered... They're here, officially open for business today, 7/22. You can't go to our neighboring state of Texas without hearing you should find a Torchys, and while I am so hesitant to try chains while travelling, I am always happy to find a Torchys. I first had Torchys on a trip to Austin, and, I too began asking if we would ever see one. And now we do! Located in the shadows of LSU's Death Valley and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, in the middle of most of the athletic venues, it will no doubt be a go-to for many. Scoring a pass to the soft opening, i perused their online menu for suggestions. This location on the inside is pretty standard and very similar to a San Antonio location I've visiting. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendliest staff who explained how the event would go down. Be sure to check out the secret menu featuring rotating tacos with various fresh features. I ordered the Matador (from the secret menu) and the Baja Shrimp tacos as they come - you can order trashy or hillbilly style, but i wanted all natural on this visit. I also got the street corn side, and wow, you can't go wrong with that - gimme all the street corn! Being the soft opening, they had managers galore checking in on you and the staff was on top of it all. I am thinking they likely had staff from other locations as well and trainers throughout. Of course, they had just opened, but the store was very clean, and there was a fair amount of social distancing going on. Their bar also has some amazing drinks. I got the Paloma, and it had just the right pop to it. Other locations have a "reverse happy hour" offering morning drink specials, so I will be curious to see if they will follow suit. As it is just on the edge of LSU's campus, I don't know if they will assume the risk of this. All in all, a wonderful experience. Again, I hope they maintain the momentum, and I'm happy to return and check on that! :)

High quality food with amazing flavor! This place does not just offer your simple basic taco options, ever taco is loaded with flavor. The green Chile queso was perfection topped with a little scoop of guacamole, cotija cheese, and a dash of hot-sauce. I really enjoyed the food and can't wait to go back. I'm

This was my first time trying out the LSU Torchy's location. The food did not disappoint! The cashier was very rude and I was surprised by her unfriendliness. Definitely not a good look. I would have given 5 stars if the cashier/ customer service been better. I had the green chile queso, the trailer park taco , and the baja shrimp taco. The food came out hot and fresh, but we had a very long wait. Overall, I enjoyed my food and wish the cashier hadn't overshadowed the quality of my dining experience.

DAT QUESO THO I have been a Torchy's fan for a while and was pumped to see they were expanding into Louisiana. Love the atmosphere in here and love that there's a nearby parking lot to make it easily accessible, unlike many other LSU eateries. The queso is not to be missed. It has it's own unique flavor that I crave with super thin, crispy, perfectly salted chips. As far as tacos, trailer park (make it trashy) is always a classic. I had to try the Bayou Pirate since it was this location's speciality. Take this as your spice warning! I would get it again, but with the diablo sauce on the side. I'm making it a point to try every taco on the menu and they all sound good!

I was hooked on Torchy's when I visited in Houston, so I am SO GLAD Baton Rouge got one too! The BR location is honestly huge and extravagant (in a good way) compared to the Houston location I visited. In the few months that Torchy's has been here I've probably come 5+ times. Food & Drinks: 5/5 The tacos are just as good as they are in Texas!!! I absolutely love that there are plenty of choices for me as a pescatarian. No sacrifice in flavor or creativity for the pescatarian options either. And each taco is $4 or so, so I can usually eat a moderately sized meal for $10 or under which is awesome! The Baja Shrimp is my absolute favorite - the flavor combo is excellent and the shrimp is always nicely cooked. I also love the Migas, the potato egg and cheese, and the Fried Avocado (though this one is a little heavy). I've tried the Mr Orange (salmon) taco before and wasn't a huge fan, though that is probably personal preference. I did have one of their drinks (Peach House Frozen) during the soft opening, and it was sooo good. Service: 4/5 I've come in person and ordered online. As for the in person experience -- the employees at the counter have always been friendly and willing to explain menu items, then they give you a buzzer and your food will be brought out to you. When they are busy there will be a wait, but I've never waited too terribly long in person. For online orders expect a 30 minute period between ordering and the tacos being ready. I've only had good experiences with the time estimations (have never showed up and my food not been ready). However, calling in an order has been hit or miss for me. A couple of times I have tried to call in an order only to never be able to reach anyone. That's what's bringing the "service" category down to a 4/5. Atmosphere: 5/5 This location is huge and there is tons of outdoor seating, which is so welcome in the era of social distancing! The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated with lots of devilish damn good details ;)

I wasn't looking for anything specific to eat but this place called to me so I whipped into the parking lot and headed in! This is such a homey type of place that puts a lot of pride and joy in their food and showing off Latin culture. Los Alvarez Exxpress Latin Food is a local mom and pop spot on the corner of Gardere and Burbank next to the S&P Food Store/Chevron gas station. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect going in but what I got was a lot of warmth and comfort. This is a place for Latin locals to relax and get a bit of familiarity and good food. I dined in and ordered the Granadas Catrachas. Catrachas are traditionally known as Honduran tostadas. Los Alvarez puts their spin on it by using Granada flour to create a puff pocket and stuff it with meat, rice and cheese and serve it with encurtido (Honduran pickled vegetables). I ordered one with chicken and one with beef. The serving was huge and absolutely delicious! I was only able to eat one. That, on top of the chips and salsa and black bean dip had me full for the rest of the day! Everyone that works there is friendly and for a second you don't feel like you're in Baton Rouge. I haven't been here for at least seven maybe possibly 10 years since Renee Ortlieb was the owner…read more The reason I came back to try it today was because after a visit to La Mexicana a few days ago only to learn it has closed (and it had become my staple for the area of authentic Mexican). To my surprise, la Tienda Latina is a Honduran restaurant. To my taste Honduran food is blander then real Mexican food. After reading the reviews, I ordered a Mexican coke and an appetizer while I looked at the menu. The friendly English speaking waitress brought salsa and chips to the table, along with my Coke and ample sized appetizer. Shortly after she returned with the Honduran tamale ( chose pork vs chicken). She also brought two condiment bottles of homemade sauces, both green tomatillo and red chili .. both very standard at authentic places. The salsa and chips were nice and fresh tasting and I particularly liked the green sauce with the tamale sauce. Realizing how much food this was already I decided just to order a side of refried beans and some Mexican Crema, which was actually perfect, and I had food to bring home because I only ate half of the tamale and about a fourth of the beans which were delicious. The tamale did need extra flavor although it was packed with potatoes and rice and chunks of cooked roast type pork, and a few peas I think. For the price I think it's quite a bargain to fill up on. However, I filled up quickly by drinking a second Mexican Coke, and had an extra order of the salsa with the chips. I dipped the chips in the beans which were absolutely probably my favorite dish of all. La Tienda won't replace the flavors and menu formerly offered at La Mexicana. I'll have to find another place that has similar type food, but I did enjoy my experience here. However Hondorian food isn't what I get cravings for. Yet, the restaurant was tidy and clean, although I didn't go to the restroom, which is always very telling of how clean a restaurant is. Btw, I know Mexican cokes are usually very pricey, but the idea of paying eight dollars for two medium (quantity) cokes is annoying, but the price of on tap cold drinks has gone up significantly as well around the Baton Rouge area, so often I just have to order water in order to enjoy a sit down meal eating out without paying a total cost of what I used to consider to be premium dinner time treat when I'm just looking for a quick afternoon lunch. Due to my budget lunch (appetizer & 2 sides) selection today I went ahead & ordered a 2nd bottle, and quite enjoyed it, and therefore I have leftovers to enjoy later. I will keep reading other food reviews made here so I can return again and try something else and just maybe I'll find a new favorite!
