I love me some torchys chips and queso! They've barely opened, but I've already been back twice LOLL The staff was so friendly and very attentive. We had multiple people come check on us to see how things were going, if we needed anything, and if they could take our trash etc. For those who have never been, it's a simple concept. Walk in and order at the register, pay up front, they'll give you plaque with a number for your order, you seat yourself inside, outside, or at the bar, and they'll bring you your order! Average price for these tacos is about $4. These tacos are bigger than street tacos, so I was pretty full off two tacos and shared chips and queso. The queso sauce is why we go to Torchy's. Gotta order that regardless of whatever else you might have. Spicy, goes well with just about everything. Some of our group had the Democrat taco. Loved it. I had breakfast tacos -- chorizo, eggs, cheese. Loved it. Everything was tasty. Friendly, prompt service. Restaurant was crowded and extremely noisy. Not a place for conversation. Torchys has great options for a meal, snack, or a happy hour break. I love thé queso and chips. I've tried several tacos as well. They all have funny names bad unique ingredients. I can never remember which is which, and which I liked best. My favorite visit had been for happy hour margaritas and queso with chips. To order you go up to the counter, place your order then find a seat with your little buzzer. If you plan to order to go you can do it through the Yelp app and just walk in the door marked "order pick up". Last option is to belly up to the bar and order from the bartender. They just opened a new location in Mansfield. We decided to give it a shot. We arrived and the line was out the door. I looked online and found the taco of the month was exactly what I was craving. I looked forward to getting one. We waited our turn in line, first outside and then inside, and finally got to the register to place our order. I was extremely curious as to why with such a long line and a busy environment, there was only one person taking orders and handling the pick up orders. As we got to the front of the line, it appeared some sort of managerial-type person arrived and signaled for us to come to the newly-opened register to place our order. We ordered their green chile queso and I said I wanted the taco of the month. But, I was denied. It seems they can't or don't make the taco of the month in their first month of opening, but they were clearly capable of creating my secret menu Matador request. *Boggle* *blink* *blink* that does not compute. I chose the Matador and the Baja shrimp taco and both were expertly prepared. My wife ordered the Democrat and a Torchy Tini. Despite the place being mostly full, with the line still back to the door, the kitchen seemed to be on top of their game. We were expecting a 25 to 30 minute wait for our food to be delivered, but it arrived within 10 to 12 minutes. We barely had the opportunity to start enjoying the green chili queso when the young lady arrived with our order. My wife proclaimed this her new favorite taco place. That's a win in my book. I'll start by saying that I my take on this location is biased being from ATX. The building and layout is nice and spacious. The servers were all extremely friendly and professional. The Sunday funday drinks were perfect for the price. If we only had drinks this would of been 5 stars all day long. I'm being kind here because I understand that they are very new. Upon arriving to the restaurant, I was told by a young lady that I needed to wait outside due to so many people being inside. I informed her that I was just picking up food so I could just put in an online order and go to the pickup door. She told me that pickup wasn't available so I would have to wait in the same line as those dining in. I waited in line and put in my order only to sit and wait again until they could get my order to me which was only two tacos and queso and chips. When I got home, I was disappointed to see that my queso cup was a little light on the queso and my Fried Avocado taco had one half piece of avocado with mostly refried beans. We have enjoyed tacos from this location twice and both times have been delicious. It is super fast, great service, and it is a fun spot. The green Chile pork tacos are my favorite, and the queso is delicious! We also got a burrito which was delicious and very large. I waited a couple of weeks for the newness hype to die down. I don't know if it made a difference. The food was good... the Torchy's I am used to. The drinks on the other hand were awful. First, my wife ordered 2 drinks to capture the happy hour price, I ordered 1. We were all done eating our tacos before they arrived. I had to go back to the bar to check on them and they were just pouring them. A few minutes later, the bartender came to our table and told us we could only have one drink each in front of us and wanted to know which one to take back. That was ok, because the margaritas were awful! Way way too heavy on the lime juice and way too light on the tequila. 2 minutes later we went back to the bar and replaced our original drink. The next time we go to Torchy's, I think we will go back to Arlington. read more

Torchy's almost always has great food and although the price high for tacos (almost $5 a taco) they really are damn good. I usually go to the Arlington location in the highlands shopping center but since Torchy's built a new location closer to me, in Mansfield, I decided to try it out. I placed an order for four Tacos online, two of which were the Trailer Park Trashy tacos. When I went to munch down, I found that only one of these Trailer Park Trashy tacos was edible. It's like they used an non-edible part of a chicken. All of the rest of the Tacos were great, but I'm pretty disappointed for the first time at the new location. I'll probably give this place another try because usually at Torchy's the food is good, but if it happens again I'll just demote this review to one star. If I'm expected to pay close to $5 for one taco, I expect to get the best of the best ingredients every time. read more
