On our way back to my friend's house after the Dallas Stars game, we decided to order takeout from one of his go to sushi spots: Suzushii Sushi & Grill in Mansfield. I called in our order, which included gyoza, potstickers, crab rangoon, two Alaska rolls, a Samurai roll, a Seattle roll, and a shrimp dinner plate with fried rice. The restaurant had everything ready exactly when they said they would, which was greatly appreciated after a long day exploring Dallas. Overall, the food tasted fresh and well prepared across the board. My personal favorites were definitely the crab rangoon along with the Samurai and Seattle rolls. Everything hit the spot and it seemed like everyone in the group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Even as takeout, the quality held up really well, always a good sign for sushi. Stopped in here randomly on a work trip. Sometimes those unexpected finds turn into absolute gems. This wasn't one of them. Let's start with the negatives. The cons: 1. The chopsticks. This completely threw me off. They brought out disposable wooden chopsticks that were already separated and looked dirty and worn. Whether they had actually been used or not, that's exactly the impression they gave. When you're about to tuck into raw fish, that's not the first impression you want. 2. Service. Matt Simmons enjoys a beer, and I suffer from a rare condition where every beer tastes suspiciously like another one. Sadly, my research was cut short. The waiter never came back to ask if I wanted another drink or even check on the table. 3. The prices. The $60 Love Boat is fair enough for the amount of food you get. Charging $18 for a bloody rainbow roll, though, is reaching, especially when the service and attention to detail don't justify premium prices. The pros: 1. Credit where it's due, the fish itself was fresh. The tuna and salmon sashimi were the highlights. 2. The Love Boat presentation looks brilliant when it arrives and makes for a great centrepiece. 3. Portions were generous, so nobody left hungry. Unfortunately, sushi is built on trust. If the very first thing placed in front of me looks unhygienic, it immediately puts me on edge. Add in inattentive service and prices that belong in a much better restaurant, and it's difficult to recommend. read more

We've driven out to Mansfield twice now for dinner and both times chose Suzushii. I'll start with the ambiance. Unfortunately, the majority of the restaurant is a wide open high ceilinged space made up of tables and chairs. A bar area with two registers either side, line one wall, and booths with chairs on the aisle, line the other. The "music" is radio. It's loud and much of it is garbled over the noise. The first time we were there it was near closing and I asked to please turn it down as we were the only people left. Thankfully they did. This visit there were two birthdays going on and a full noisy house at dinner time. We were in the middle of things at a table. I can say, the prices are moderate and the food is generally good. I see why everyone is there on a Thursday. It's just not my ideal dining experience. Our waiter was terrific and the service was spot on. Their menu is expansive. We first ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll as an appetizer. They make the BEST spicy tuna rolls. Spicy and big, with a large portion of spicy tuna in every bite. EVERY bite. The roll is perfect. Fantastic! I always want Sashimi so I ordered the dinner with 3pcs each of Tuna, Salmon, Yellow Tail, White Tuna, and Red Snapper. It's served with miso soup and a salad. ($26.95) The miso soup is delicious. I usually sip on it as I eat the sashimi. The salad is lettuce and 1 grape tomato but there's lots of that wonderful dressing. They give you shaved daikon in every corner of the sashimi platter and I put some in my leftover dressing in the salad bowl. Crunchy yummy textural goodness for an additional palate cleanser. So good! The rest goes in my soup. None of it goes to waste. I love daikon! The platter itself was good quality except for the salmon which was not firm. Flimsy, it tasted alright but was not particularly unctuous and fell apart when you picked it up with the chopsticks. But overall, I enjoyed the platter and the other fish was very good. My spouse always orders chicken teriyaki. It's a risk. He was disappointed this time with partially charred dry chicken. His dinner was served with Hibachi vegetables and he substituted fried rice for an additional $2.50. It was also served with the miso soup and a salad ($15.95). My husband will not complain to me until the meal is over because he knows I WILL complain for him. But he left most of the chicken so I asked him. *sigh* The restrooms were large, clean and adequately supplied. The parking is shopping center parking. The service does not disappoint. It's unfortunate that some other aspects of quality do. read more

I met some friends here for dinner, this was my first time here. This place is obviously very popular for sushi as that's what most people were eating. I'm not big on uncooked food, but definitely tried some out this round. They did have alternatives and I got a filet mignon with rice and vegetables. They did pre-cut my steak and cook it in pieces which is not exactly how I like it, but it was OK. My friend got the teriyaki steak and the sauce was not good at all so it made the beef taste funny. The sushi that I did try was dynamite roll, and it had cooked shrimp in it so it was actually pretty good and we also had sliced yellowtail tuna and it was pretty fresh and tasted good. We had pretty decent service and it was pretty loud in there so you did have to speak up to hear each other talk. I wouldn't mind coming back to try out some different sushi dishes. read more

I ordered a few items to go , and they were absolutely delicious, I got the gyoza , spicy tuna roll and some miso soup. The place was packed , as it should with sushi this delicious and inexpensive, I feel like they have decent prices. The staff is awesome , I was greeted and they had my order ready for me . This place has been around for many years and the quality of the food is amazing .. I'm not a huge fish person but I love the spicy tuna rolls! A friend and I came for a post workout treat. We were the first ones in the building but the place filled quick. It was a pretty large room lined with booths and tables in the middle. We picked a booth close to sushi making area. Service was prompt and I liked how everything came out as it was done rather than everything coming out together. Our eyes we definitely bigger than our stomachs. We spilt four rolls and had to take some home. We did a mix of raw and cooked rolls and everything was yummy! My review, to be fair, is for the area! Mansfield does NOT have 100% authentic Asian restaurants. Restaurants here are watered down (think Tex-Mex! Food: first of all, yeh rice! This is NOT Japanese or even Korean grade sushi rice. We got Thai jasmine rice (which fall apart and give that grainy texture which is great for fried rice but not sushi making) the mouth feel is definitely off. Not only that, they didn't season their rice!!!! For those that eats sushi...you know sushi rice are seasoned!!!! Most of their cooked rolls are slathered with sauces but they're creamy and not quite seasoned either I got the crispy spicy salmon roll and was scraping off the sauce toward the end this roll got cream cheese insert on TOP of all the sauce they slather this platter with Do NOT order cucumber salad (tasteless) nor the miso soup (from a packet) A two is for their saving grace, the quality of the ingredients are not bad at all (look at those salmon sashimi pieces) and their price point ...per piece are compatible to those sushi train place.for those that are not so ...specific about the authentic taste ...for those that are specific ...let's go back to Yelp search for the next detailed review shall we? read more

Local here! This is one of my go-to lunch places, highly recommend. Service is good, we never had an issues with staff, they are always polite & stay on top of things. Wait time for good to come out is pretty good too. I've been when it's slow and I've been when it's busy, you're never waiting too long and the food always comes out hot. Me and friend went to eat a nice dinner and we got terrible service. Our waitress was VERY rude to us and gave us sly remarks. She took our order didn't come back didn't serve us our food and just came back with the check without even asking if we needed anything else, then got mad when we placed a to go order. I usually give some grace with waitresses because I know it's a hard job, but she was rolling her eyes at us and sighing at us, not treating us like other customers. I've been going to this place for YEARS! That paradise roll is literally paradise in your mouth. I absolutely love their house salad, the fried rice is always hitting. I even got my mom and sister hooked onto this place and they're the LEAST adventurous eaters. They wouldn't eat anything new much less anything from a different culture/country; but now they stay craving sushi (mind blowing)!
