That was until we paid a visit to TMX. As a parent I was impressed with the cleanliness and the Covid Safety measures in place. As well as the professionalism displayed by the staff. My biggest accolades for this gym is the fact that after only being there for about 10 minutes the staff made my son feel so comfortable and excited that a fire within was ignited and he actually stayed for a class. So far my son has only been to one class however we have signed him up for a membership. His words at the end of the class were "who knew exercise could be so much fun"!

I set up a series of private sessions and found Chris to have great technical skills and an easy to follow teaching philosophy. I learned a lot during my sessions and plan to return when I am in the area. This business has a friendly environment and is well run. This is not at the expense of focused, aggressive, demanding training that truly creates top-notch athletes in the sport of MMA (mixed martial arts.) You only need to drop by once to know this place is legit. If you look at their fight records (e.g. the last AFO in Braintree, SSSF went 5 for 5) you'll see what I mean. If you have any trepidation, fear not - they'll train at any skill level of absolute beginner who's just looking for fitness to pro fighter looking to make it to the next level.

While the classes book up far in advance, I've never had an issue getting off the wait list. The studio is very welcoming. The owner, Elizabeth, makes a point to get to know her customers by name. I appreciate the variety of clientele as well. There's all different ages, body types, genders, etc. I've never felt intimidated in a class by the other participants. The prices are also incredibly reasonable and I've been able to get good deals by being subscribed to the newsletter. The "SHRED Shorty with Weights" with Caitlin is an intense class. It reminds me of SoulCycle, but way harder. I've taken Caitlin's non-weight classes and have also had my butt completely kicked. I've taken a Pilates class with Amanda and it's been on my to-do list to return to because I loved it so much. If I ever move from Quincy, I'll be sure to return to SHRED whenever possible :)

WRONG! I tried for years to go to the low cost gyms but I never saw the results I wanted. At Sitsuphan you get results! Sitsuphan got me in the best shape of my life which I owe to their top notch coaching staff. The coaches/trainers at really help you get in shape and keep you motivated. They also have a number of classes and in the variety training that worked for my hectic schedule. I highly recommend you give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

The trainers were nice enough, but it was disappointing that during the workout they seemed very distracted. It was difficult to focus on the warm up exercises they assigned while they were gossiping about students with each other. I believe the trainers are knowledgeable and I would get a good education, but the lack of focus and lax attitude just really made me unmotivated to go back. If you are not excited about Muay Thai then how can you make me excited? I also didn't like that they are somewhat secretive with their pricing scheme. I asked several times about price and was never given a straight answer. Makes it seem less legitimate. UPDATE: The owner reached out to me and I got the impression my experience was the exception and not the rule. Having said that I have already moved on to a new exercise venue and won't be giving sitsuphan another chance, but I am going to upgrade my rating to reflect my interaction with the owner.

All our classmates are very friendly and bring a positive attitude, and the classes are fun and go by in the blink of an eye, it seems. I can't recommend this place and these guys enough. One note: this is American Jiu Jitsu that will train you to survive in a fight. If you're looking for competition-style martial arts, this is not the place for you. But if you want practical techniques to defend yourself, this is the place to do it.

It would be a big improvement to include a variety of options like music videos, workout-related YouTube channels, educational fitness content, or even news. Music: The music selection is consistently heavy metal, which may not appeal to everyone and can be demotivating for many members. Music plays a major role in workouts--it boosts performance, increases motivation, reduces perceived effort, and helps maintain focus. A mix of genres like EDM, house, pop, and remixes (typically in the 120-140 BPM range) would create a more inclusive and energizing atmosphere. Warm-Up / Stretching Area: The stretching area is too small and cluttered with unnecessary equipment. It would benefit from better organization and the addition of useful items like resistance bands.
