Walked up to this food place by the Home Depot. Saw this sign saying that they've won the last six Chilli Verde cookout contests, and so thought - what the hell, why not. So this lovely chap came to the window... "Would you like a sample sir?" So I tried a sample of his chili verde, while he proudly explained that it is all fresh, he uses four types of meat, loves what he does, and tries to make further improvements every day. They've been at that spot for over 10 years. The chili verde tasted positively amazing. Probably the best I have ever tasted, and I do have the odd chili verde as I travel around. He made me a chili verde burrito, adding scrambled eggs and rice, and it was absolutely delightful. I sat down outside the entry to the Bakersfield Home Depot, and he came out with another sample of one of his sauces which was equally amazing. Wow. Next time I will take my wife for dinner here, it is that good. I'll be sure to bring a candle and mayhap even a table cloth to improve the environment. Anyone in the Bakersfield area go say hi to Valentin and his wife, and enjoy the utter culinary delight they serve. It's worth the detour from the 99 which most of us would use to get through B'field on the way somewhere. Yum, and what nice people! read more

The cashier got the order wrong twice. I went back twice so I can get the right order. The wait was very long and it was not worth it. Carne asada is tasteless. Rice and beans also not good. Maybe the other food is good but not the carne asada, beans or rice. First and last time getting food from here. read more

I have to say this place started out pretty good for our first time, but they are over priced! Just because they get some good local referrals makes them the best chili verde in town I beg to differ. The food was good not great. Our second time around was unfortunately the last. My wife ordered some tamales and they were dry, dry like the Sahara Desert! Secondly she ordered their famous chili verde burrito, through the first couple bites she was fine, it's when she bit the third time and was chewing she didnt notice anything until she was about to swallow and felt a scratch atop the roof of her mouth. She immediately spat it out and discovered what looks to be the thin wire that is inside the twisties you use at the grocery store to secure your produce etc. This incident was recent 12-24-2015. To think we were referring family & friends to this place. That changed real quick we will not recommend this run of the mill roach coach any business. This place also charged my wife $5 for a fountain drink!? Be warned patrons. read more

The name of this place is misleading. I haven't seen a hot dog yet but who knows. These are the guys in the taco truck outside of the Home Depot on Rosedale highway. They are also the defending champions of the local chile verde cook off and have won some insane amount of years. Everything from the street tacos to the tea are well crafted. There are a few tables and chairs if you chose to sit there but it is all out in front of the parking lot and loading zone. One little mark against them is that they use nacho cheese on the their chili verde nachos and I think it takes away from how awesome they are. read more

My family & I absolutely love this place we go there at least once a week! Not sure why it's referred to as a hot dog stand when they have the best chili verde there! You must try the chili verde nachos they are delicious & filling all by themselves. They also make chicken nachos not sure what they season that chicken with but it's very flavorful. Home Depot hot dog cart but the real deal is the Chili Verde. I eat at a ton of these HD palaces of haute cuisine and they can be great and they can be awful. The thing that I know for sure is take the advice of the maitre d'. In this case it was the Chili Verde, and it was great. I had the CV Burrito, from a long list of all things authentic CV. I guess CV and Bakersfield go hand in hand. So go with it if you find yourself in Bako, you won't be disappointed. read more

Wish I could give more than 5 stars! Yvonne is an absolute doll and helped me feed an office of 30 people. The office (and me!) absolutely loved the breakfast burritos and multiple people came back to ask where they came from. The two Standout burritos were the Chile verde and the chorizo, but all of them were great! Insanely delicious and really great prices. I look forward to having Yvonne and the team at R&T dogs cater more of my meals! read more

They don't serve hotdogs that I know of, but everything else is delicious! Their Chile Verde is an award winner for a reason; it is seasoned perfectly, so tender, and just the right amount of heat! It's good on anything especially the quesadilla! It's not too often that you go to Home Depot for a burrito, but we go for food here more often than to shop. For the first time going there ever I had a bad experience. Ordered food went home sat down to eat and it all was wrong. All we order was 6 tacos 2 with out sauce & onion?! How hard is that? Mind you I asked my sauce on the side. It wasn't even in the bag and all my tacos didn't have any sauce and the 2 with out onion were covered in onions. The cooks were nice enough to remake them but the cashier seemed rude. I will not be going there again. A good place that is always nice and you get to pick your sauces as you go is Sebastian's right off Rosedale ! read more
