Tried this location out on a whim! Great service, had to walk in and put order for pick up. As I was waiting about 10 different people came in to order, so busy place at lunch time - I think that's a good sign should be good right? It was! I was going to order a torta but the hamburgers looked so yummy I opted for the Ocampo burger which just includes jalapeños and avocado and the original does not have those. Thirty-six years on Texas and I hadn't had a torta until a few weeks ago. I weep for the deliciousness I've been missing out on. Passed by this location a few months ago and was drawn in by the torta images on the outside facade. They looked delicious and the photos on the Yelp page only fortified that conclusion. Finally made my way there a few days ago and the tortas were amazing. The made in house bread was crusty* and flavorful, while the meat to topping ratio was ideal. The jamon was fantastic while the lomo was life changing. If you're hungry, I'd recommend going for two smalls rather than a single large. Also wish I'd ordered a Mexican soda rather than had a fountain drink, but next time. For anyone reading this who has seen my other reviews, I was the only non-Hispanic in there which is a damn shame, but being the only white guy in a location like that means I'm in the right place for amazing food. * The bread is wonderful, but it has a very firm crust so if you're like me and have loose or failing teeth (one of my incisors is about to fall out) you're going to need to work around it. I'd suggest tearing off parts of the bread and eating it separately while you devour your delicious sandwich. read more

The queso fresco Torta is my go to and I just ask them to add beans. It's so freaking good. The bread is on point! It's nice and toasted in the outside and super soft in the inside. It's been 5 years since I've been here and I've often wished I were in the area more... I found it quite easily by typing "Tortas" in yelp while in Carrollton. This is a very clean establishment with super friendly employees. Last time I was here, I believe the owner was the one taking the orders, but he had two very sweet girls there now, who explained each sandwich to me in detail. I chose the #5, grilled chicken Tortas, and it was a mouth weathering experience. I had had the Specials in the past, which are also very good. The bread is to die for, and they hollow it out, so to hold all the meat and ingredients. I love their sandwiches! I took one to go for my boyfriend... but it didn't make it home lol. It was good. I really liked the ham torta. Just a heads up the horchata is premade and stored in a large cup with lid in the fridge. Also fries were nice and crispy but just fries really. After reading the reviews I knew I just had to try this place. Let me start of by saying that the food is great. The Tortas were on this delicious bolillo bread and the ingredients tasted fresh. Very very good. But now the bad. I wish for the price we would have gotten fries and/or a drink with it or a way bigger torta. While the torta was delicious it was on the small side. It was $6.50 and for that price I could go somewhere else and get more food. We are a family of five and we go to El Paisa and spend about $30 on food for all of us and get twice as much food then we did here. We spent to close to that and it only fed three of us. While I did enjoy it I'm not sure if I can say it was worth it. All I can say is give this place a try, you definitely won't be disappointed with the food I think you might be with the price especially if you are use to getting more food like I am. read more

My friends swear up and down that the Tortas Las Tortugas in Oak Cliff are the best tortas in town. Since I dont feel like trucking all the way down to Oak Cliff, I felt this place should be just as good (and much closer to me). I ordered the Torta Especial and some Flauntas. The Torta didnt have an amazing flavor I was wanting. Some bites had a good flavor, while some bites were just bland. The texture of the bread really threw me off for most of the meal. Each bite I took, the bread texture seemed to change. one bite was dry. One bite was chewy, one bite was soft. One bite was amazing. One bite was flaky. I could have sliced the bread into five bites, and each section could have been a completely different experience!! The flauntas were actually really good, but my biggest problem was the price. I paid 7 dollars for 4 flauntas, some lettuce, three tomato slices, a handful fo cheese, and some dipping sauces. If this were 4 dollars, then I would say great. If they had given me 8 flauntas for 7 dollars, I would have been ok. But I feel they overcharge for this. I probably wouldnt eat here again, but if one of my friends insisted on eating here ( or buying me food) then I would be ok. read more

I always come here whenever I'm craving a torta and I don't feel like making one at home. The place is always clean and its never packed when I go. The staff is friendly. You order at they give you your drinks and a buzzer to tell you when your food is ready. You can pick either the small or regular sized torta. Usually I get the regular. I opted for the small this time since I can usually only eat half of the regular size. For a small torta de fajitas w/ avocado and a order of seasoned fries I payed a little under 10 dollars. To me it felt a bit overpriced since the small torta was tiny, but it did satisfy my hunger. The bolillos are sooo good, and they're made fresh everyday. Sadly you can't just buy them on their own. The tortas here aren't the best, but they are good enough to satisfy your torta cravings. I recommend ordering the torta de lomo or de fajita. read more

This place took me back. The Tortas here are excellent. They taste exactly like the ones in the town in Mexico where my family is from. I haven't had one of those in awhile and as soon as I tried the ones at this spot it took me back to childhood. The bread here aka "Bolillo" really brings it all together. The texture conflicts with your taste buds but the consistency and taste of the bread makes it more enjoyable after each bite. What a fun place! We'd never been and stopped by on a whim. We sat on the patio. I saw a neighboring table with multiple pitchers of beer, so I asked how much their pitchers were. The gentleman gave me a funny look and said, "Free!" Free beer? What? Sign me up! Sure, it's domestic Piss Lite, but I'll drink it for free, thank you very much, and it goes well with Tex Mex. Food was good. Salsa was HOT. Chips were good. Service was okay (different server from initial gentleman I asked about beer). A mariachi band showed up around... 7 or 7:30, I want to say. I recommend this place! I already have plans to return! I asked my daughter for a lunch date and she suggested this place and informed me that she was obsessed with it. It's a decent sized place on a small strip of businesses. Inside the place is clean with unassuming decor and furniture.The staff was very polite and sweet. My daughter ordered a ham and cheese with avocado and no veggies. I had skipped breakfast and was in the mood for eggs so I ordered the egg sandwich. Just got to Dallas for a business trip and literally stopped here because my coworker was raving about it. Apparently they have the best tortas in Dallas, so me coming from Houston im already skeptical since Houston is known for the food scene. Well It beats the usual spots I've been to and what everyone is really used too.The flip-side is that's its actually more Americanized and fresh than most torta restaurants and everything's in English also of course!! The ingredients here are very simple and have it your way kind of like subway. Watch out for the salsa sauces a good heated mix for the sandwiches and they give you this mexican salted pepper to spice up your palate for more hunger but I would be wary on how big of bite you take while your munching on your sandwich because it turns up the heat on even people like me that love spicy foods!! Once you try some of their sandwiches than you can be the judge in coming back or trying something else for your liking but so far I've been here quite the numerous times and always had the same sandwich, which is the ham, egg, and everything torta?!! I go with the saying if it ain't broken than don't fix it approach and baby that torta got me singing some Mexican tunes and drinking jarritos on a daily basis!!!!
