My boyfriend is absolutely obsessed with this place and I just think it's okay. He goes and get the "El Rumbero" plate which is just a hodge podge you then stuff into the included tortillas. I have tried the quesadilla and it was meh... bland and non-eventful. I tried the Gordita and I would personally rather get one from Taco Bell (sorry). I did really enjoy the quesabirria tacos but oh my GOSH do they come out hot!!!! It's also not in the main menu so I always forget they have them when we place pick up orders. Not crazy about the food it was pretty bland. The salsas were amazing, other than that the meat had no flavor & the pineapple water tasted like Klass mix. They don't sell rice at all only beans & if you're looking to eat chips and salsa that's not an option either. Staff were very nice other than that I probably wouldn't come back. read more

This unassuming taqueria nestled in a shopping center brings delicious sopes cooked to order, that have a not too crispy texture topped with refried beans, beef, lettuce, and queso fresco. I love El Rumbero in Carrollton! The pastor tacos and gringa torta are my absolute favorite. Their sauce is spicy, flavorful and delicious. This is the best authentic food place that I have found in DFW. My only complaint is that they only give you two tiny containers of their sauce with a to go order and they charge you extra if you want more. This is my pet peeve at most restaurants. I am already paying for your food, why do you need the extra charge for the sauce? Especially because when you eat in person, you get unlimited sauce at the table so why should the to go orders not get as much sauce as they want with their food. Thats the only reason I am rating 4/5 stars, otherwise, the food is 5/5! read more

The food is great. I enjoyed my meal and most of the people I went with liked their food. However buyer beware; the prices online and in the Yelp app are wrong. I ordered the Gordita and the total was $6.50 for the one item (no drink). There is a difference of $1-3 per item so if you are ordering over the phone based on what you see online, ask about the price. This is more of a traditional taqueria type place than "Mexican restaurant" so they do not have chips, queso or dipping salsa. The Gordita only comes with one sauce so I asked for extra green sauce and was told it was an extra $0.50. While the green sauce is amazing, the container the sauces come in are tiny (see my pic) so I really had to weigh flavor to cost. Flavor won because that green sauce is fire! The restaurant is on the small side, definitely no room for big groups. There's approximately eight 4 top tables and at lunch time, they are busy so be prepared to wait. read more

Great place for quick and good street tacos. The suadero and the bistek tacos are awesome. Pastor is ok, not bad but just ok. The quesadillas and Fortas are filling and really good. If you get tacos you get a red salsa and a green salsa both are good. Red a little more spicy. Big quesadillas on home made tortillas. Very home vibe to the small restaurant. It pains me to write this but after coming back a few times recently, El Rumbero is simply not the same. Don't get me wrong. They still have good tacos but IMO this is no longer a must stop on the DFW taco train. Simply put the quantity and quality of the meat have both decreased. What was originally so flavorful and plentiful has been brought down a notch. The tortillas were also soft and had a hard time holding everything together. It feels like they are now rushing their food and not focusing on what made them great in the past. I'm rooting for them to bring it back to what it was but for now, a good taco but not a game changer in DFW. read more

I stopped by here a little after 5:30 PM and the restaurant didn't have too many people, but the previous time I did go, it was packed. I was greeted fairly quickly by the employee at the front and asked if I had any questions. I decided to dine in this time to see what the experience would be like. I ended up ordering a Pollo (Chicken) Sopes, Pollo (Chicken) Gordita, and 2 Pollo (Chicken) Street Tacos. The price is so good for the quality/quantity of the food I received. I wasn't too sure about the drink so they mentioned they didn't have any glasses of water and that they could give me a bottle. I deciding to order an Agua Frescas (specifically a Horchata). I was asked if I wanted ice and given the Horchata pretty quickly after ordering. The horchata wasn't too sweet, and there were notes of cinnamon present. I've usually done take out for Agua Frescas so I was surprised when the employee came by and did a refill for my horchata. The price of the horchata was $3.50, and in my books, that was worth it. I received the food about 10-15 minutes after, and you could tell that everything was fresh. I had a good amount of chicken and onions on top of the tacos and they were also very generous with the amount of meat for the sopes and gordita. The arepa was thick, fluffy, and warm. The green and red sauces were used for all 3 items and they made the dish much better. I recommend you check them out; I'll be back to try the tortas and some horchata in the future! read more

Walking in on a Friday during lunchtime, it was packed with construction workers, all either waiting for their meals or chowning down. Thats quite a good sign! Service at the cash register is fantastic. They are on top of everything, helpful in explaining any questions I might have, all while effortlessly switching between english and spanish. I would normally would just order tacos, but the torats were calling my name! Since they served it all day, I ended up getting a breakfast torta with sausage, egg, and cheese. The sausage is sliced like choripan, and not necessarily country style breakfast sausage, FYI. I ttook about 15 minutes, which was not that bad, but dont expect it immediately. The torta here was delicious! The sausage were booming with flavor. The cheese was gooey and the eggs were the right texture. All of the meats together blended in harmoniously. The salsa verde is more of a chipotle sauce than a typical salsa rojo. The salsa verde is addictive in its spicy rhythm that keeps me coming back for more! The only thing I can really complain about is the texture of the bread. They dont toast the buns, so the bread gets somewhat mushy pretty quick. This is the one thing I feel that would push it through the stratosphere. I cant wait to come back to try other stuff from the menu! read more

Very disappointed in the last two trips here. Food is still good but lacking in quality. When we first started eating here the pastor big burritos were full of pork. You can clearly see the first one in my photos is literally oozing with succulent pastor pork. The next two trips & photos of the same pastor big burrito is full of lettuce & beans with hardly any pork. When restaurants start cutting corners, cheapening the food, quality goes down, customers go elsewhere, restaurants fail. If your going to make a $9 burrito, make a $9 burrito. Okay I love this place too much. It's literally the authentic taco stand that I've been missing...just in a little shop front. The service is quick and there are a couple of tables to sit and enjoy indoors. I have tried everything. I have loved everything. This place has become a staple in my pregnancy. The sauces are also the best for the local taco shops. The red is spicier but neither are really very spicy. Pair the red with the chorizo taco though and it's a little more heat. Taqueria that will give you flavor explosion. We were suggested to try this place by the nearby barber claiming it's better than Salsa Verde, which is our favorite taqueria. El Rumbero definitely did not disappoint especially with their flavorful meats. Meats that stood out to me the most were chicharron Pensado and pastor. They were very tender and had so much flavor without it being too greasy that paired perfectly as tacos. The Cubano torta was so stuffed with all the ingredients and each bite was impressive. We concluded the torta is the second the best to what we had in Mexico City (Fun fact, the owner of this place is from Mexico City). Overall, this taqueria definitely competes with La Salsa Verde but with much less line and chaos, although I do wish they had as much variety of salsas. read more
