SPICY STOP We had been driving for twelve hours straight and we needed a food break. We were on our way to New Orleans when we ended up here...eating Mexican food. Really?! I told my wife we can't stop for Mexican food because we were so close to having a NOLA po'boy sandwich. But I knew it was time for our pit stop and we pulled in here to reenergize. Overall our food and service was really good but there were a few things that were really bad. I'm just going to address the bad things first. When we walked in the restaurant, there was an over powering smell of cleaning solution. It was so strong I couldn't believe that people were actually eating inside. There is a good chance that everyone was totally high on chemicals. We immediately asked for a table outside. It was warm outside but at least we didn't have to smell the chemicals. On a positive note...there's no bacteria living inside of the restaurant. The other thing I hated is that all the dishes we were served on had cracks and chips in the plates. I understand the cost of replacing dishes but it was kind of ridiculous. I was a little nervous when I learned our waitress Carlie was serving food for the first time here. She was the bartender and didn't know the menu that well so management put her on the floor as a waitress for her to better understand the food. I'm glad she was honest at the beginning. I had a few questions about the menu and she went to the chef to find out the answers. I was really happy with how she handled herself. That is the sign of a good employee. She was honest, considerate and helpful. The prices of the kids meals were great. We were able to get a $4.99 meal with an enchilada rice and beans for the little one. My wife went with the three chicken enchilada meal with a choice of two sides. She chose the tortilla soup and the Mexican rice which ended up in front of the little one. Mom knows which foods are her favorites. I decided to go with the burrito supreme. It was deliciously seasoned ground beef topped with avocado, pico de galo, lettuce and cheese. Carlie brought me some verde salsa and Fiery red salsa on the side. As I was eating my burrito I noticed that it was missing the cheese and the pico. I decided not to say anything because I was half way through and it was still delicious with the missing items plus I hate sending back food. I can't stand food waste and I don't want the chefs special sauce bonus on a remade dish. I honestly am so surprised with this location on the side of the road. Typically roadside restaurants don't deliver but honestly the food was really good here. I would come back here again. In fact, we drove by in the early morning on our way back to Chicago and I joked we should stop again but with an eleven hour drive in front of us it was too soon to stop. Hopefully we will find ourselves on this road again and enjoy some yummy Mexican food on our way to NOLA. read more

We were booked in this town for a fitness bootcamp and needed a bite to eat before going to the hotel and resting up. All I can say is, we ended up eating here twice in one day! Lunch & Dinner! This place is remarkable! Immediately upon walking through the door my fiancé and I were greeted with the grandest of smile from the host and then our server Kelly. My initial thought was, I hope the food is as AMAZING as our greeting and first impressions. And Lo and Behold I ordered the Grilled chicken burrito and my fiancé ordered the seafood enchilada.... HOLY SMOKES our palettes were so pleased!!! If you're ever passing through McComb Miss, I HIGHLY recommend you stop and enjoy a meal here. read more

Ok ambiance, bathrooms dirty and food mediocre. Unfortunately, we were traveling and arrived at shift change so awful service. We went since it was one of the highest yelp reviews in the area. Salty, salty, salty! What the hell, a happy plate cost like $16 at lunch. Over all an odd over priced whatever

We stopped here on our way from New Orleans to Memphis, and what a treat! Their guac is fantastic. The food was delicious. We had the pork tacos and the shrimp tacos. Lots of food, with plenty of meat and everything was really fresh. Oh, and the service was terrific! We will probably stop there again on the way home. read more

Nothing crazy good here. It's really just a filler of a meal off the highway. They decorated the place really well.

Eh... I had the huge burrito and a chili cheese relleno. I put the sauce in the side for which I am grateful. I am traveling through for work so there may be better dishes. The workers were also really nice and accommodating and the food was ready really fast. Now the food. The relleno egg white layer was way thick and the cheese inside was super thick and tasted like cheap American cheese. A little cheddar cheese is all it needs. Let the chili speak for itself. I chose the burrito because of the guacamole, pico and sour cream. I was sad it was on top and not inside like in most places. The fajita steak was super salty with not much other taste. I ate about 1/4 of it and decided to eat chips to fill me up the rest of the way. Overall - there are a ton of things on the menu so you might find something you like. read more

My family and I will not be returning to Tortilla Soup as this has been one of the worst dining experiences I've had in my 60 years on this earth. I'm going to try to keep this short, but between the substandard food, the skimpy portions and the very rude manager, I honestly can not recommend this place to anyone. Just to give an example of this restaurant's policies, if you order a single fajita, you get two sides. If you and someone else order a double fajita, you still only get two sides, (instead of the 4 sides as is the case with any any other restaurant). You will also receive the fajita condiments for only one person, instead of two. Any additional condiments, will be at an additional cost. While I did complain to the manager about this and she did say that she would not charge us for the additional condiments, when the bill came, it did show that she actually did charge us. When we brought that to her attention and let her know that we wouldn't be back, she said 'fine' and that she was glad we wouldn't be back! Anyway, what it boils down to, is that there are several more Mexican restaurants in this area that do take pride in what they serve their customers and are a lot more honest! There are places where the food is epic and that's what makes people go back, and then there are places that people go to because they have no other options, or they don't know better. I think this place falls into the later category. The service was very friendly, polite, swift, and pleasant, and that gets a whole star alone. The chips and salsa were good, and I ate plenty of them. The sweet tea was nice and I got refilled whenever I needed. That's the good. The place is called tortilla soup so of course I ordered it. Dark bland sweet salty broth with almost no ingredients inside save for a few cheese curds, and a ton of tortilla strips. Which could be okay I suppose, but it was not. Oily, devoid of flavor, and missing any substance to make it stand out as the namesake of the restaurant. The enchiladas can be covered in one of five sauces (five!), red, white, tex-mex, mushroom poblano, and one other I forgot. I opted for the tex-mex which is was told was like marinara sauce. Well, it wasn't, with big chunks of meat, and a salsa type sauce I doubt there was a tomato to be found in the sauce, it was not good, ruined the enchiladas, and was a mistake to order. The enchilada themselves were okay, just cheese and tortilla so how could it be bad, but I don't know what kind of cheese was in there but I didn't enjoy it. Camping nearby and craved Mexican food. Had to try name sake Tortilla Soup. I recommend large 8oz bowl with lots of flavor. I don't usually order pasta at Mexican restaurants but description sounded as good as it actually tasted. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. The service is more than great. The manager was very kind and attentive with us. Food was great. This location is with any doubt way better than the one in Denham Springs Louisiana, where the food was bad and got us sick, and the manager refused to help us with the excuse that because the shrimp was fried, all the bacterias died because the hot oil. Surprised to see they could quickly seat and handle a group of 15 (adults and children). The Carna Asada and Cheese - Chicken were both very flavorful and cooked to perfection. For the kids we ordered nachos, wings, and some random appetizers - all quickly served and perfect for the kids. Will definitely return! read more

Everything I had at Tortilla Soup was delicious, except the black bean soup which was good, not great. They have the best beef flauta I've eaten. The chips were thin and crispy, very fresh. They are accompanied by a lightly spicy salsa. I also had the crispy taco and beef enchilada; both were excellent. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The restauraunt itself was large, new, and well decorated. The building appears new. I will definitely easy here again if i am in the area. If you have someone with you who doesn't like Mexican food, they also have southern fried plates like chicken or shrimp and fries. read more

Quick and friendly service. If looking for a close to California Mexican restaurant this is your place. If not it's still a great place. We had the Shrimp cocktail and the ceviche and it was as close to what we remembered from our years in California. The Mexican guacamole was good if you like spicy. Cheese dip is nice and flavorful. Found this place driving back to NOLA from Oxford. Couldn't have been more pleased. Pleasant server, smelled very clean walking in the door, fantastic menu selection and everything made from scratch from tortillas to barbecue sauce. Loved the salsa and server sent me home with some!
