The menudo meat was old. I had a bad texture. When explained this to the manager, she explained that's how menudo is and it's made in a big pot. I explained I am Hispanic and know what it is and how it's cook and so I know the meat was bad. She then proceeded to tell me I need a vest for my service animal and asked me for her documentation. I explained this was illegal and showed her and the owner that she was wrong according to the ADA laws in Tulsa OK. The owner also asked for my service animal's card then said me and my service animal are not allowed back. It's ok cause the food was bad, I'm from San Antonio, Texas. I am giving them five stars because they have tamales, a good selection of meat and we like their red and green sauce. I love spicy food, and the red sauce is packed with quite a bit of heat. Service was really good. Our chips and salsa were promptly refilled. $8 for six tamales was reasonable, and we got two flavors - chicken and pork with jalapeño. This is seriously the best spot in town for tortillas, menudo, barbacoa, and more Mexican yummyness. It's one of those holes in the walls that are treasures to find. The very first time I went there, it was on a Sunday and there was a huge line outside the door (first sign it's a good spot). I found out the line was mostly for to-go orders specifically of barbacoa. They open super early and run out very quickly. They make their own tortillas too, which are heavenly! There are only a couple of tables inside so keep that in mind when you go in a group. It is super affordable! $9 for a pound of meat, great to share with friends. If you are wanting real authentic mexican food, this is the place to come to. The menudo is CLEAN and flavorful. The tripe is fullly cleaned thoroughly, the soup smells gross if it hasn't been cleaned or soaked in water properly. The salsa was deliciously spicy, with fresh ingredients. When I walked in the service was slow, but I attribute that to the late day rush. This place is pretty authentic Mexican food if I had to say, the staff started asking me questions in Spanish so I rolled with it. I speak enough Spanish to be dangerous. The chips were amazing and the salsa carries some heat with great Chile flavor. We went with the taco plate (4 tacos) these were small 4" round topped to the brim with meat onions and cilantro. Served with green and red sauce on the side. We went with 2 asada , 1 pollo and 1 pastor. The pollo and pastor were both moist and shredded. My favorite was the asada and pastor. I've driven past this unassuming restaurant dozens of times and have always been intrigued. I finally had the chance to try the food when a coworker offered to pick up lunch from here. I had 3 street tacos ($1 each). I could have eaten 4 or 5, as they're pretty small. I had the chicken, carnitas, and steak, which were all delicious but I thought that the steak was superior. After reading other reviews, I'm looking forward to returning and trying the barbacoa.
