The oldest review that I can find for La Reyna is from 11 years ago. And coincidently I have driven by and mostly ignored the store/restaurant in the old gas station for the last 11 years. I did notice that the parking lot is sometimes packed with dilapidated vehicles, service trucks and vans. For years, my assumption was La Reyna was an auto parts store, until I saw the restaurant sign. Hmmmm. The curb appeal as a restaurant was less than enticing. Couldn't be much of one. Having eaten at hundreds of these gritty little hole in the wall family operated restaurants, my experiences set my expectations; authentic, but bland Mexican food. I read the reviews some favorable and some unfavorable. No matter, I'm going in today. Inside a store, restaurant and cantina. The whole frickin' place was being ran by a very nice young lady. She was mixing Cheladas behind the bar and delivering them along with big glass mugs of ceviche to the customers in the bar area. A half a dozen construction workers; bright yellow safety shirts and muddy boots, in for a mid afternoon lunch. In between managing the cantina, she took care of the customers in the store and waited on patrons in the restaurant. She was hustling. The service was a little slow, tolerable, but worth the wait especially when the reward of delicious plates of food arrived. My wife and I were the only gringos in the restaurant. The food was exceptional. I had some of the best most flavorful Mexican food that I have ever had in a small restaurant like this. Starting with the chunky fresh guacamole, fresh salsa and hot crisp tortilla chips. The guac had chunks of ripe avocado, jalapenos, tomato and cilantro. Truly the best I have had. For me a huarache, a shoe size 13 plate full, loaded with spicy pastor, covered with salad and queso fresco. My wife had the enchiladas verde. Three corn tortillas packed with seasoned chicken and covered with green sauce. Absolutely delicious flavorful food. Nothing bland. Check the pictures. Your experience may vary. Unless you have a pair of balls between your legs they will treat customers like ass. Also when they get the order incorrect they will blame you. I know it may seem like this is just a snarky review but i promise that woman was awful and did not try to remedy the food THEY got incorrect. read more

A taste of authentic Mexican food. You know it's authentic when most of the clientele is also Mexican. It has a small tienda attached, but of course is a bit overpriced. The carne asada burrito with everything inside is simply a weekly must-have. It is so big, I eat half for lunch, half for dinner. For that matter, carne asada anything is good. Their green salsa is addicting and their red salsa will leave you clawing the bathroom walls the next day. Nutshell: Simple, straightforward food, good prices. Worth a stop in. This place is very simple. Walk in through the market and grab a seat to your right. The menu is pretty straight forward as well. I went with a burrito con pollo with a side of frijoles (beans). It may have taken all of 10 minutes for my food to come out. The burrito was hefty and full of goodness. The chicken was succulent and had a good flavor. There was rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, and onion stuffed in there. All in a good proportion and not one ingredient overtaking the other. The only downside was the tortilla split in a few places, so towards the end I was doing that "hang in there" hold technique. The refried beans were ah-mazing. I don't know why, but they were. Simple and amazing. The total ran just under $9. For the quality and quantity of food, I think it's fair. I walked in hungry, but I didn't leave that way. When you're done, you head up to the cashier between the market and seating area. There wasn't a lot of interaction with the employees, but they were friendly enough. The only reasons this wasn't a 5 star review, is that almost everything is a la carte and there were no prices that I saw on the menu (I don't like surprises). I had the steak taco (small but delicious - I should have gotten 3), and a chicken burrito (it could take me 3 days to eat it all and I would never be hungry. But it's too good so I'll finish it tonight). Keep in mind La Reynard is not a restaurant. When you pull into the parking lot following Yelp directions, you will see a very nice large modern building that looks like a restaurant. That's a Bakery. That's not La Reyna. La Reyna is a food van across the parking lot from the building and near the street. At 7:30 pm on Saturday there were 3 beautiful women inside having fun. One answered my questions and took my order right away. She even asked me if I like cilantro - which I do. But I know some don't. Being a Gringo, I am not a connoisseur of Mexican food. La reyna is a small local Mexican market with a restaurant off to the side. It is 100% authentic Mexican food. No TEX MEX. I have had plenty of items on their menu from their carnitas, pastor, carne asada tacos, burritos, sopes, caldo de res, and flautas. I have enjoyed every last meal here except their tamales. Their tamales were the worst. They were dry, and had bones in them. This is the only reason I'm giving them a 4. If you're looking for a nice date night restaurant, this isn't it. The experience that I had at La Reyna was pretty middle of the road. The only genuinely negative comment I have is that the elote en vaso was made with canned corn (which isn't great to begin with) but they didn't drain it so it was sopping wet (pictured). The carnitas were fine but not seasoned well or fried enough for my liking. I like my carnitas crispy and flavorful and Tacos Los Hermanos is the place to find that. The pastor tasted like a sloppy joe which is not great lol. The pastor at Los Hermanos is also much better. The pollo was fine and flavored well but a little dry. I wish I had taken a photo of the "gordita" which really was more like an open faced empanada. It has cheese in it? They also don't make their tortillas fresh which is a huge bummer. Nothing was terrible but it was definitely a much more mediocre experience than the reviews hyped me up for. read more

So our favorite taco truck, 'Taqueria La Casita' moved and we can't find it. We decided to try this place out as a replacement for street tacos. Their menu prices aren't bad at all, but we were charged $53 for our dinner. $30 for tacos, & apparently $23 for a side of rice and beans, and 3 drinks. They weren't friendly. But NONE of this was an issue. I repeat, I was HAPPY to pay $53 for tacos and drinks. However, there was a long hair intertwined in my tacos through the meat and other toppings. I honestly don't even care if people are rude when I get my food bc I'm not paying for your kindness when all I want is some street tacos. But the HAIR.. I cannot. I will not go back ever. read more

The woman who served us was on her cell phone the entire time we ordered and was nonchalant/unfriendly the entire service. Since moving from California in March we had been on the hunt for authentic Mexican food. The problem is you can't always trust the Yelp reviews in a state where they don't know any better. Anyways, we found this place after looking for months and we will always go back. We drive from Ponca City just to get their delicious food! The staff/waitresses are very friendly and attentive. Because of the great reviews I decided to go check this place out today. I walk in the store and the lady at the storefront does not even say hi. So I walk in to the restaurant portion and there is no one there to take your order so I walk out and into the adjoining store to look to see where I can order and there is no one there or no one to help me. After walking around for awhile I just left. Maybe this place is more for call ins not sure. Btw I'm Mexican and fluent in Spanish so it was not a lost in translation sorta thing. Fantastic food truck tacos. They have a great selection and second portions for the standard price. It's right next to a panaderia so if it's open you have dessert right next door. The selection of meats is extensive and has all of the common items plus a few that ensure you know you're at the right place. Although the pastor and carnitas are fairly standard, the barbacoa is a must try. read more
