Crema and queso by the pound

Great addition to Eastway Crossing. I spotted the sign a while ago before they opened and once they were able to open up again I need it was my chance. The tables were all put away, so for now it is only take out, fine by me that's what I was planning on anyways. But as I approached the hot bar, I realized I was going to have a BIG problem...which one of these amazing things do I get?! I went in pretty set on barbacoa and all the fixings to make tacos at home for the week....but then I spotted the carnitas...and the sopa de res...and the fried chicken, ribs, stews and they all looked sooo good. I decided on my first visit to keep it simple, albeit excessive, with some carnitas, barbacoa, and a sopa de res ( which comes with rice and tortillas). Top the order off with some of the medium salsa, some queso fresco, and a baggy of chopped cilantro and onions and I was set. I get it home and the tortillas and meats are still warm so I only needed to assemble and they were oh so good. I would have a hard time picking my favorite of the meats. The soup was super flavorful with my ideal level of saltiness. I managed to get 4+ meals out of $20 worth of delicious food. Not bad at all. I am dying to go back and get a plate (choice of protein with 2 sides) and work my way through their entire selection. The girl working was super friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English for those of you nervous about having to crack out your high school Spanish skills. Also for the record it smelled great in there and was spotless. Anyone that mistakes this for a buffet clearly doesn't understand how a buffet works. This place is NOT serve yourself. Welcome to the neighborhood!

I was leaving the Chef's Store today and saw Tortilleria Elizabeth, I thought what the heck, let's check it out. It is a little storefront, now that I say this, there are tables, they just had them put away because it is carry out only right now. I ordered one barbacoa taco. The lady was very nice, she loaded up my taco, when I went to pay, she forgot lime, so she brought me one. In the refrigerator behind the cash register, it was loaded with different picos and some salsa verde and roja. I saw one with habanero. It looked delicious. I also noticed some whole chickens and fried chicken. You can order meat by the pound and make tacos at home. I can't wait to try more, especially that fried chicken.

Incredible, authentic, no-frills. One of the best places in town for fresh tortillas. The fried chicken is great too!

After one meal here, we understood why. Calle Sol has a cool laid back vibe, great service, strong mojitos, and food that absolutely delivers. The ceviche is the star for a reason. Super fresh with bright flavor, and the crispy plantains alongside it were the perfect seafood fish combo. The skinny spicy margarita with the tajín rim and mojitos were excellent too. Our favorite was the Cuban rice. Rich flavor with this aioli on top that made everyone at the table keep stealing bites from each other. The vaca frita (beef) had great flavor with crispy edges done right, and the banana tres leches dessert was flat out dangerous. Easily enough for three people unless your family has zero self control. We don't really have Cuban food like this back home, so this felt like a treat. Safe to say our daughter picked a winner. We'll definitely be back next trip to Charlotte.

The taste was not exceptional. I should say the servings are pretty generous. Service: Came in without reservation, seated within 30-40 minutes as promised. The place was very busy. Wait for food is average for a 7 people. Ambiance: Pretty crowded. They do have outside seating. It's alright, usual south American ambience.

Start things off with a refreshing Stiltsville Special Rum Punch or a tasty Junipa Colada, a bubbly pineapple soda with Spiced Rum. If you're dining with friends, order a few dishes and pass them around -- most are big enough to share. We went on Monday, not a busy day in the middle of the afternoon however our server gave us some the best experience. He was very knowledgeable about all the items. He made great suggestions and was attentive. Our only complaint was the yuca. It was very bland. Flavorless. Everything else was very flavorful. The beef you could tell was marinated as well as tender. It just fell apart with the pull of a fork. The Cubano was great as well. I had the Tampa cubano that added the salami. We will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes. We love that there was a variety of items to choose from .

Wow, we made a great decision trying Mama Juana Latin Fusion. We had an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the host, we knew this was going to be something different. The host asked, and was genuinely excited when we told him it was our first time in. When the waiter arrived, he was excited to tell us about the menu, as well as the food itself. He enthusiastically explained that while they had Mexican dishes, authentic Latin food was their real specialty. He made great recommendations and took great care of us throughout the meal. We chose to try the empanadas (1 cheese, 1 chicken, and 1 steak) and some cheese dip with chorizo. Both were exceptional. Full of flavor. My wife and I agreed to split 2 entrees, and that was another good decision. I had the Cachapa with shredded chicken, and she had the Venezuelan Arepas. Neither of us had ever had these dishes, but both were amazing. We were stuffed, but no way we couldn't take a desert home for later. The flan and the Tres Leches were both AWESOME! If you are on the fence, just try this place. You will be glad you did! They take a tremendous of pride in the quality of the food. The restaurant was very clean and had a great ambiance.

There were many different options but I had to try the Empanadas and the hubby had the Street Burrito. Both were delicious. Oh and they get super high kudos for cleanliness, the entire place including the bathrooms were spic and span!

When I initially visited (in their first couple of months after opening) I was super in love with this place. Unfortunately every experience after that has been super inconsistent. I've ordered their seafood sancocho three times and every single time I've gotten a different dish. The last time I ordered it - it was more so vegetables with 2 teaspoons of broth, some rice and old fried yucca. If you look at the photo - I believe you can tell the yucca looks like it'd been in the fridge for days and they just threw it in there for good measure. The waiter didn't smile and generally looked miserable to have to deal with me. I asked for hot sauce that never came. Just overall, really disappointed in my last experience here and unfortunately won't be retuning due to how inconsistent my last few visits have been. You might get something that tastes decent, you might not.
