So glad that I gave Pupusa 503 a try. We ordered off the hot bar and got a few pupusas to share. We got the Pollo and Queso (chicken and cheese) pupusa and the Loroco and Queso ( Loroco [a flower bud native to Centeal America] and cheese) pupusa. I feel like this is the first time I tried to pupusa and I know it was the first time my dad and nephew had ever tried pupusas. We thoroughly enjoyed them. They were ok plain but the red sauce and slaw that they gave us to go with them really enhanced the flavor. My dad ate most of the hot bar plate that. The plate came with rice, beans, a pupusa, plantains and a main dish. We got the beef. It was a good size portion. The ladies and the gentleman that assisted us inside were so helpful and happy that we came to try their authentic dishes. This is absolutely my favorite place right now. I eat here twice a week and the staff knows me well and treats me great. I get the pupusas and my favorites are the Reveulta and the Jalapeno ones. I love the Curtido and the spicy sauce that they will bring you. Tuesdays are 3 dollar pupusas and other days they are 4 dollars. First time trying Salvadoran cuisine. Ordered the Super Pupusa (veggie options, except the Loroco). Came with tomato gravy (cup) and cabbage (cup) both of which added to the flavor...tasty dish...quite big size (we were there for dinner)...good for two to share. Lot of traffic in the restaurant....many take away orders while we were there and seating was fairly full too. Casual dining option. As reference, Pupusa is similar to stuffed Indian parantha. I get Pupusa 503 often as it's only 5 minutes from me. I've really only tried their pupusas and Pescado Frito ( the video attached. I only ever get this because it's so good that I refuse to try anything else . The staff is super friendly and I always enjoy coming in. Just a heads up, if you do not speak Spanish or if your Spanish is a little rusty like mine, they will typically answer the phone in Spanish. However, if you ask for English they will give the phone to someone else to help out! I typically order take out and my food is ready within 15-20 minutes. Absolutely the best papusas. I got 3 each chicken and pork. Mid afternoon on a Saturday it was so busy and there's a reason. These were so good. I happened to stumble upon this place one day riding by going to another spot for lunch. So I made a mental note to make sure I looked them up to see what they serve so I could try them out. So so glad I did! It was delish! Cute quaint place with a few tables, and they were jammed packed with customers and after tasting my food I can see why. The man behind the counter was very patient and friendly when I told him was my first time there. He was great at explaining the menu, since it's not in English, and answered any and all of my questions. I got the mango drink and fried whole fish meal. It was amazing. Seasoned and fried to perfection. It came with a side salad (which was extremely fresh) and rice and beans. Definitely a filling meal, I couldn't eat it all in one sitting. Huge pupusa fan here in part bc I'm part Honduran. So very happy to have another pupuseria close to me. Tried was the super pupusa, the plántanos con crema, the fried fish, the yucca con chicharrón (not shown bc it was devoured the moment it hit the table!), and a kid's pollo asado. Listen, the food is on POINT. All the yummy flavors I expect from my Central American cousins! They will be seeing our faces more! The service was A+. This place gets 5 stars in addition to being added to my lost of favorite restaurants in town. The memu offers true and delicious traditional items. My wife and tried the meat soup (sopa de res), the loroco y queso pupusa, and the nuegados (cassava pancake). Everthying was delicious and not too much sodium. This tasted like real traditional Latin food. Do not expect the fanciest ambience when you come here, but it's organized, clean and avery diverse with families with lots of children. I feel like they would have worked with me on ordering in English if I would have asked, but they were also super busy at lunch time and I didn't want to be a pain, soooo, I just went with what they are known for. Mind blowing experience - I walked in and ordered what she is having. I had no idea what I was in for and copied the patron ahead if me. I think that was the best decision of my entire day. What I thought was chicken turned out to be hearts of palm flowers. It had an interesting texture and I have never eaten this vegetable before in my life. Discovering something new is a rare treat for me. The owner came out and asked us how our food was. Very friendly and again the entire plate was a culinary adventure. I really did like the rice and beans and these are a staple of a good restaurant. If you want things even hotter you can request special spicy sauce. I don't know how you will take this but they kindly let a person charge his phone in the resistant even though he is not a patron and possibly unhoused. We have gotten a variety of Pupusas including the Pollo y queso, Revuelta, and Queso con ajo. I also really enjoy the Yuca Frita side, the sauce it comes with is very tasty! The staff is friendly, hospitable, and give great recommendations. There is not a whole lot of seating in this small restaurant, especially for how popular it is, but it was still pleasant inside while we waited for our order to be ready. I love pupusas, so I was excited to come here. That excitement faded when we walked in the door. We came around lunch on a Saturday. It was incredibly crowded and almost no one, employees or customers, was wearing a mask (there is currently a mask mandate). We were planning to dine in, but after seeing this we weren't comfortable doing this so we got takeout. If we hadn't had a gift card, I probably would have just walked out. We got the Super Pupusa, Mushroom/Cheese Pupusa, Pastelitos, Yuca Fritas, Tamales de Elote (fried), and Nuegados. I loved the pupusas, tamales, and pastelitos. They were so flavorful. The Yuca was pretty bland compared to others I've had. I've never had Neugados before, but I didn't think it had a ton of flavor either. Overall, I enjoyed the meal. And the red sauce it is served with was the perfect complement. Found this small restaurant while going to Target today. It's right outside of the University city blvd Target, where the Appalachia Cookie Company used to be. It's very small and clean. There is some seating inside but I took my food to go. The service was great and they told me my food would be ready in about 10 minutes. I ordered the revuelta pupusa and the pollo con queso pupusa. They were very big and had so much filling! The revuelta one is filled with pork and mozzarella. And the pollo con queso is chicken and mozzarella. They came with the traditional pupusa toppings, salsa roja and curtido. They were both very good as well. The food here was very authentic and tasty. I loved that they also had a vegetarian and vegan menu for those who cannot have meat or cheese. I would also want to try the aguas frescas because they looked so refreshing. This was my first time having pupusas and I was so excited because the ratings were all fives!!! I checked the menu for what I might be interested in and gave it a go! I was glad to receive great service from an attentive listener. The young man who took my order was pleasant, patient and knowledgeable. He made several recommendations and I took them all! Met some coworkers here for lunch. Man is it a tiny restaurant and pack full of people. No tables was open at all. Always a good sign of good food. I went and ordered a couple of pupusa and some fried yuca. We wait a while for the pupusa to come out and while we waited as full as it was it became barren just as quick. We were able to find a table instead of taking our food Togo. A like boy came by and cleaned up the table for us. When the pupusa came out they were hot and melts in your mouth. They are just perfect with the right amount of filling and seasoning. I would definitely not recommend the fried Yuca. They were pretty dried and had really no flavor and also once they get a little cool they were unedible. Beside the yuca everything else was good. As we were leaving we saw them bring out some fried chicken. Man I wish I would of got an order cause they look so good and crispy. But by that time I was full off the delicious pupusa.
