Beer batter Soy Ginger Shrimp Tacos
    Katherine Lawlor R.

We ordered the guacamole very good fresh avocados, tomatoes and queso for the chips. Dinner was beer battered soy shrimp taco with side of avocado pasta very tasty. Hubby had the carne asada burrito (he is still talking about how good it was) and son had the blackened Mahi Mahi taco very delicious side of mashed potatoes.

Went on Taco Tuesday with a friend visiting from out of town. $5 à La carte tacos all day. It was delish! Love that the signature tacos are included. I ordered the shrimp and carne asada. And it hit the spot! Staff are always on point and gave great recs. It was also not too busy when we went. We went at an off time, but definitely got more traction as the evening went on. Love coming to Cabo since it's perfectly in the heart of NoDa.

Why does this place consider a bowl of corn salsa? Who knows. There should be one constant at a taco restaurant, salsa. I mean when did we all just give into letting places get away with this. I yearn for an America I never got to see and nothing is a bigger reminder of that than places like this. I hope they clean this hipster act up and put some real salsa down on the table for the next folks. ZERO STARS. Water was good though.

We stopped here to kick off Charlotte Taco week. The buffalo shrimp taco was my favorite!

Good - service was great our waitress was super nice and helpful. The ambiance was ok nothing crazy. Food - very average, felt like a burrito I could make and on top of that, it was so expensive!

Stopped here because the place was on DDD which means Guy Fieri ate here. Nice seating in a nice little cozy place. Service was average. We got mahi mahi tacos and the tuna tacos, along with plantains and refried beans. Beans were a little too soupy for me but had nice flavor. I enjoyed the tuna taco but not so much the mahi mahi, it was covered with a cilantro cream which is not my favorite flavor.

We were at an art show in NoDa, so we asked a local artist where to go for lunch. Great recommendation! We arrived just past noon on a Saturday, and we were seated immediately. The chips and house-made salsa were great. The salsa had corn, which was an unusual but fun touch. I enjoyed my shrimp tacos with a side of rice and beans (and more corn). The tacos come with flour tortillas. You can get corn tortillas, but that option isn't on the menu. You just have to ask. The menu also doesn't tell you that the tacos and burritos come with a choice of one side. My friend liked his shrimp and chicken burrito, too. It was huge, and he ate the whole thing. Service was quick, but it could have been much more friendly. On the plus side, my water glass was never empty. When we first walked in, the music at the door was very loud. It was a lot calmer inside, though. This was the perfect choice for our first time in NoDa, and I look forward to going back!

A great restaurant in the NoDa district with indoor and covered outdoor seating. Server was very attentive and we were seated right away, even though the restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night. I ordered the veggie bowl with tofu and the portion was a lot. Salsa had a kick to it! Chips came out warm.

I got the shrimp tacos and salmon tacos and it was not a 10/10. The meat tasted fresh and so did the toppings, but i'd definitely recommend adding some type of sauce to go on top of the tacos. The environment and service was great!

Each taco was stuffed with fish and had a delicious flour tortilla. Usually I prefer corn tortillas because they have a better texture, but these flour tortillas were great! Honey Soy Glazed Salmon Taco (5/5): Such a great blend of flavors. The honey soy glaze was perfect for the salmon and I also really liked the honey wasabi sauce. The wasabi was very noticeable, but not overwhelming. The salmon was fresh and tender as well. GREAT taco. Fried Flounder Taco (5/5): Perfectly fried! The batter didn't overwhelm the fish so it still felt light while providing some fried flavor and texture. It also wasn't too salty which I really appreciated. The jalapeno tartar sauce was nice as well but could've been a bit spicier. I liked the slaw as well. *Daily special Blackened Mahi Mahi Taco (5/5): Light and refreshing. The fish was tender and I loved the blackened flavor. Grilled Lemon Ahi Tuna Taco (4/5): Simple and tasty. The fish was good and was complemented nicely by the cabbage, guac, and sauce (I didn't mind the tomatoes either). Baja Shrimp and Crab Dip (4/5): The dip tasted a lot like crab rangoon. The pita was great! Lightly crispy on the outside and soft inside. *$5 Taco Tuesdays! RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Ask the Community - Cabo Fish Taco

Are there dog friendly outdoor seating options?

Unfortunately the NODA location is unable, due to our patio being considered enclosed. However, the Ballantyne location I believe does allow dogs on their patio. Hope this helps.

Has anyone else not been able to reach anyone for hours?

Hello Brittany. I live in the neighborhood and as far as i cant tell they are 11a-10p

    Are there any gluten-free options?

They do offer corn tortillas for most of their tacos.

Do they have any deals for Tuesdays?

Tuesdays, they have a hostess that will lie to you, tell you the wait is 45 minutes, all while you look at a not even half full restaurant, with lots of empty tables. Enjoy!

Do they have any Tuesday specials?

No specials as far price goes but each day they have two tacos that are not in the menu.

Do they have dessert? Specifically churros?

Yes. Unfortunately they were over cooked.

Every bite was full of flavor, and the portion size was more than worth it. Between the delicious food and Orhan's outstanding service, this was an excellent experience overall. With its subdued lighting, faded brick walls and tightly packed tables, it's the perfect spot to escape with a bottle of tequila on a rainy Friday night. On a recent visit, my wife and I started with a bowl of chips and queso, accompanied by a pair of oversized house margaritas. When I complained to our server about my drink's disappointing lack of kick, he took it off the bill and recommended the far superior Patron Cadillac Margarita, which improved my mood in a hurry. For dinner, I dove into a delicious taco combo platter of steak, carnitas and baja fish, while my wive enjoyed a tasty Taco Salad. I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
