This is still one of the best Venezuelan restaurants in Charlotte! I came back for lunch with other coworkers, and this place still offers a solid menu with a good variety of traditional items. We ordered the empanadas, tequeños and the sugar cane lemonade (papelon con limon) and we absolutely loved it! Los Chamos is still on South Blvd. with its own free parking lot. Staff is still fully bilingual and super friendly. Common areas are spacious and clean. There is still no outside seating. I can't wait to come back and try more menu items. read more

Unique compared to some of the more general Latin options, as they really do focus on Venezuelan fare. Parking and decor a plus! All of the appetizers were amazing--we got everything except the tacos. The trio and flight options are truly the way to go here, the flavors are all different and you really need to try them all! The chimichurri here is probably my favorite of all time. The rich smoky flavor is so deep and satisfying, I've never had one so robust. I wish I had done an entree that was smothered in it!!! How wonderful to find a fried food joint with a dedicated gluten-free fryer! I have celiac disease, so that a pretty big deal to me! Much respect to the folks at Los Chamos Clt for making the effort here. The food was absolutely delicious. Service was friendly, even though I pity anybody working on a slow Saturday. The place was clean and well-kept. They even have hats and T-shirts! Overall was super happy with the menu for gluten-free options and staff being so knowledgeable with food allergies. This small hidden Venezuelan restaurant is a true gem in Charlotte. My daughter and I ate there Friday night and what a wonderful experience we had. She had eaten there before, but it was my first time. The staff were attentive, friendly and charming. I had the Venezuelan burger, which was excellent! My daughter had the Empatacos (which are advertised as an appetizer) but she was so stuffed she couldn't even finish all three that came with the order. When trying new places, we like to go big, so we ordered a variety of dishes--each one had its own unique flavor and was well-executed. Cannot wait to come back! There's plenty of parking out front and the sign/entrance is clear and easy to find. We were greeted promptly and sat at a high top. When we arrived there were only about 3 tables occupied, but by the time we left nearly all of them were. We both ordered a beer to start, then we ordered the tequenos tradicionales as our appetizer. They were excellent! I ordered an arepa pernil based on a recommendation from the server. My husband ordered the patacon since it was what they're most well known for and they were incredible! A couple of years ago I tried a Venezuelan restaurant specializing in arepas in Allentown, PA. When I moved to Charlotte, I wanted to find a place with the same quality food and hospitality. I've found it at Los Chamos. From the moment I walked in the staff was welcoming and I even heard them explaining the dishes to another customer who has never ate Venezuelan food. I went with the Tequenos, fried perfectly and a great cheese pull. Then ordered an Arepa Reina Pepiada, a chicken salad and avocado, which was my favorite at the previous restaurant and will be here. I also ordered the Pabellón Criollo, the shredded beef, Carne Mechada was so tender and juicy. It was served with perfectly spiced black beans and savory plantains. There's plenty of parking in the shared parking lot the place was clean, and there was no one in the restaurant when I arrived while dining, I think two other people came in to eat, they have a drink menu and a full bar. They do not serve any mock-tails. The menu has pictures of some delicious options. However, they do not have the names next to the pictures. This would be helpful. The food was good. Found a true treasure! My friend and I have been exploring different restaurants around town and Los Chamos was on the top of our list. We were so glad we were able to finally try it out. We were really hungry and wanted to try it all, as you can see from the photos, and they were all so good! Definitely got full fast but wanted to try everything out at least before it got cold. The apps (empatacos and tequeños) really hit the spot. The empactacos were perfectly crispy and had a great ratio of filling. The salsa that goes with it was also sweet and tangy. Such a good combo with the flavorful and tender meat. The tequeños also had a great crunch and the cheese inside was so ooey and gooey, like an elevated mozzarella stick. I was starting to get stuffed but we pushed through to taste our main dishes. I ordered the patacon. Soo yummy! Love the crunchy plantains and the meat again was so juicy. Very tasty in person and as a take home. And you can never go wrong with fries, especially truffle. They were perfectly crisp and the sauce paired so well! The staff was also super kind and patient. I live nearby and have been meaning to stop in. I did today and ordered takeout. I got the pepito parrillero and it did not disappoint. It was stuffed with tender meat, the cheese on top was fantastic, and the truffle fries were perfectly crispy. As I drove to this place, I almost missed it. The sign is missing a letter and there is no clear sign form the street that I can recall. As I walked to the establishment, I almost did not go in. The windows of the place are black. I expect the place to look like your typical Puertorican bodega or like just not well maintain place. However; much to my surprise the place was so pleasantly well decorated. Though not specious, It has an absolute modern look. I was well received by the hosts who gave me the option to sit inside or order to go. I was planing to go, but I changed my mind because the place felt so welcoming. He spoke to me in English and I spoke to him in Spanish. Immediately he apologized and then he changed his language to Spanish some thing I typically have not experienced in many other restaurants. Then he provided to give me a complement on how stylish I looks and directed me to my sit. As usual, I asked for the recommendation of the waitress. I recommend to try the Cachapas. He quickly explain to me all the details of what the cash app is in bowl with the different meats of chicken, pork and beef. He told me of all the cheeses that they had and the sauces for each of the different Cachapas sampler. He told me all the drinks that they had and the appetizers that he recommended. I made my selection. I picked the strawberry margarita, a chicken empanada, and that catchup a sampler plate. He went put the order and immediately brought my drink. The drink was not sweet, not too strong it was just the perfect blend. And then, shortly after that, I receive my empanada. I have had Colombian empanadas before and when I look at this avatar, I looked almost like the Colombian empanada and nothing against my Colombian brothers and sisters, but this empanada was superb. It was really thin crust with the perfect crunch. The corn flavor was absolutely fine and the chicken as well. Every single bite was still crunchy and was still very flammable. The sauce that came with it was the perfect touch for it. After that I received my Cachapas and they were equally amazing. I have had Cachapas before, but the Fusion this restaurant offers to is a completely different twist and unique. The Cachapas were extremely tasty. One could distinguish the corn, the chicken, the chimichurri, and everything in it. I felt like Remy in Ratatouille with all kinds explosive flavors in my mouth. To top it all they had 2 fellows singing live. And not just singing; they were singing salsa and people were dancing . Today I told my sister I would probably drive them six hour to revisit this restaurant because the place was that exquisite. Bravo, please keep making all that good food. read more
