    Baleada #5 (takeout)
    Jacqueline T.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo here, but we really came for the Honduran and Salvadoran food more than Mexican. We got way too much food and I'm still in a food coma. We ordered a pork and cheese Pupusa, Baleada #5, chorizo tacos, the Salvadoran steak, tres leches, and horchata. For $6 I thought the Baleada would be small, but it was huge. It could have been my whole meal. It was all fantastic. My favorite thing was the Pupusa followed very closely by the Baleada. The tacos were great, but they didn't stand out as much to me since I don't see baleadas and pupusas on as many menus around. The sweet treats were great. I loved both the tres leches and the horchata. I think the tres leches was the best I've had. They aren't doing curbside right now, so you'll need to order over the phone and go inside to pick it up. They also can't take payment over the phone, so you have to pay inside. These weren't the best for social distancing, but luckily no one was inside when we were there. There are a lot of comments in reviews about them not speaking English well, but that was not a problem for me. The Batch Maker recommended this for Honduran food and I'm so glad she did. We loved it and it's not something you see much around Charlotte!

Wow, what a meal. It's not common to see Honduran food in the US. Salvadoran food is a bit more common, but is still hard to find. If you look at the low reviews, you'll see that those people were not ordering Salvadoran or Honduran food, and knew very little about Latin American culture in general. I'm glad that I ignored those reviews, and went here, based on the recommendation of a colleague. The food was amazing. I was sitting on a table across from a group of five, so I was able to see their food as well as my food. I think my soup, the Honduran Seafood Soup, is the prettiest bowl of soup I've ever had. It also might be one of the tastiest, but it took me almost two hours to eat the vast majority of it. I asked for an empty bowl for all the shells, since I didn't feel right putting them on the table. The bowl contained four crab clusters, and multiple clams, mussels, shrimp, and assorted vegetables. There was a full serving of fish on top, a bowl of rice w/ veggies next to it, and some warm tortillas wrapped up in foil. Easily enough food for two people, or for two meals. The complimentary chips and salsa were great as well. I also can't say enough about the service. The hostess and waitress were extremely friendly, checked in several times to see how I was doing, and get a solid 5 stars. The whole experience cost me $22 w/ tax and tip, which is very reasonable for the amount of food, specifically seafood, that I received. I bookmarked it, and will certainly be back.

Food was ok. Whole fried fish was petrified. Service SUCKED. I ordered a margarita. If you know me you will understand that I drink the whole thing and I could still speak. I can still feel my lips. I have come to the conclusion it was no alcohol. We asked for the manager who made us another. I asked for no salt in my ankles are swelling as we speak because there was salt. I'm not coming back. I'll go up the street to the Vietnamese place

Great presentation of food! The pictures of the food brought me in, and were just as pretty in person. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my taste buds. The price was crazy affordable for the budget savvy. Everything all together was $26 Amazing! Beverage: Horchata- Very sweet and had a cinnamon flavor Water with lime- good! Cheese quesadilla- with cilantro & onions - Good! Just had an excess of cheese, & I'm a cheese lover. It was also pretty greasy, the oil dripped off of it. The salad was ok (comes with a red sauce that tastes like a red ranch) this was ok. The other side items are pickled with jalapenos. Yikes, that was a real wake up to my taste buds. Shrimp Burrito- my friend thought it was not great, but edible. The red sauce that covered the burrito was surprisingly sweet and my friend didn't like it at all. She didn't touch the rice or salad after the shocking jalapenos made her eyes and nose run. Rice- not going to order again! Not great. Cheese Pupulsa - a cheese filled corn tortilla - if you like corn you may enjoy this. If not, like me, it will sit on the plate.

I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could. The only thing that stopped it from getting 5 stars was the service. When I'm served, I don't expect anyone to go above and beyond but I do expect to feel welcomed. That was not the vibe I got except from one older male server. But the fooooooooodddddd, my God even two days later it still hit. I would go back here again and again just to try something new every time. The portion sizes are great for the price and the seafood was quality. Salmon cooked just right. Overall a great place to eat.

    Take out. Bistec Encebollado.

I'm in a hotel near Charlotte airport and didn't want to be driving around searching for a Mexican joint so to Uber Eats I went. This was high on their list but not so high on Yelp. First it was much further away than what Uber suggested so by the time it got to me it was cooler than what I like. However the meal was tasty so the 4 stars. Probably a much better experience in the restaurant. Didn't come with chips and salsa to which I expected. Didn't need them anyway so I didn't count it against them.

During my dinning visit, I experienced decent customer service when it came to my waiter, but the staff in general was really friendly and attentive . Food was amazing, the beans a little salty but other then that it was exquisite. The natural juices were fresh and not from the box , all five of us chose different ones. Food portion was HUGE. The prices were good and we'll priced on the plate . I would go there again . Overall a good experience.

Do you like Pina Colada's? How about amazing food?

If you're looking for authentic, delicious Latin (Salvadorian, Honduran) food... This is definitely a place you want to check out. Outstanding ceviche, fresh tortillas, out-of-this-world grilled steak, shrimp, and chicken. Yummy! So glad we dropped in...we'll definitely be back again.

His service was quick, professional, and welcoming, which really stood out and made us feel taken care of the whole time. It is rare to have a server who brings such a positive energy to the table, and Orhan definitely did that. I ordered the Burrito Basico with steak, and it was amazing. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the burrito itself was packed with fresh ingredients that all blended together so well. Every bite was full of flavor, and the portion size was more than worth it. Between the delicious food and Orhan's outstanding service, this was an excellent experience overall. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend asking for Orhan.

With its subdued lighting, faded brick walls and tightly packed tables, it's the perfect spot to escape with a bottle of tequila on a rainy Friday night. But if your circumstances aren't quite so desperate, Que Onda is also a great destination for an intimate date night or an evening with friends. On a recent visit, my wife and I started with a bowl of chips and queso, accompanied by a pair of oversized house margaritas. When I complained to our server about my drink's disappointing lack of kick, he took it off the bill and recommended the far superior Patron Cadillac Margarita, which improved my mood in a hurry. For dinner, I dove into a delicious taco combo platter of steak, carnitas and baja fish, while my wive enjoyed a tasty Taco Salad. Service was outstanding throughout our meal, the prices were reasonable, and the ambiance superb. Well worth a visit if you're looking for solid Mexican food and margaritas in Charlotte.

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
