We really enjoyed this local Italian/Greek combo restaurant. One daughter had the Fettuccine Alfredo-very fresh and surprisingly light. Older daughter had the grilled chicken Parmesan. Really tasty, and very large portion. I had a chicken pasta with mozzarella and feta (can't remember the name) and if was very tasty, with lots of minced garlic. My husband had a daily special chicken pasta and spoke very highly of it. We loved the local vibe...just passing through from Charlotte on the way to the Western part of NC and didn't want a chain. First-timer. Went with a group. Service was great. Food was wonderful. I thought it was risky to order eggplant Parmesan without at least seeing pictures. It was really good- fresh, thinly sliced, seasoned, lightly breaded. The breading was not mushy. Everyone in the group said the food was really good. Menu prices are great and very reasonable! Lettuce on the salad was good lettuce and fresh. I like that most of the dishes come with a salad. It can be hard to find delicious food that hits the spot. I hope they keep it up! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I don't usually post negative reviews but this is a case where I feel like it's warranted. It took about 5 mins for a hostess to sit us, they were not busy so not sure why (tried to over look this). We placed an appetizer order and our lunch order, we waited over 40 mins and no appetizer (we ordered bruschetta so maybe should have taken 5-10 mins, even 15 but def not over 40 mins). We finally asked for hostess after 45 mins of waiting on bruschetta if we could pay for my glass of wine. The waitress came and said so y'all want to cancel your food order??? Yes, it's been over 45 and no appetizer so unacceptable. We paid for glass of wine and walked to Pleasant City where we were immediately sat, got drinks within 2 mins and our order was taken! We gave this place a chance after reading a lot of bad reviews in the past few months, I def regret even trying. read more

This restaurant is relatively new and we've already been 3 times. The Greek food is great!!! The Greek dressing is the best I've had. My favorite dish so far is the Greek Chicken Salad. Was in Shelby the last weekend in May and "What a Find!" Toscanos is a quiet sleeper. Our party of four started with the spinach artichoke which was outstanding. The Greek salad was huge, fresh and crispy, packed with Feta Cheese. The homemade Greek salad dressing was the best I've ever eaten and plentiful. I opted for the Spinach Pie and was I glad I did. Would order that over and over again. Wanted the Moussaka, but made a last second decision on Spinach Pie. I will be going back the next time I'm in Shelby. Go check this gem out! read more

Pretty good pizza and pasta. Not many options for Italian food in Shelby, so it's nice to have Toscano's. The space, previously 5 East and Smoke on the Square, is a beautiful place. We've received good service each time we've visited, and we also enjoyed getting call-in and take-out pizza. Can get busy at times. Parking isn't much trouble around the square unless there's a major event going on in uptown. read more

Enjoyable dinner but a wee bit of a long ticket time. The waiter said that was due to my spanakopita, so I'll blame me! . Not as layered with phyllo like I'm used to, but the 'spinach/cheese/onion guts" was delicious. Large fresh Greek salad served with it. The mini-me had cheese manicotti and I think it was great b/c she inhaled it. Also served with a nice tossed salad. A friend had a sub and the fries were spicy and delicious. Great food! Sometimes the help at the register is not so great . Was told that she could not leave to get my food from the back she would have to wait for someone to come to the front and ask them to get my order . I had to wait 15 minutes longer than was estimated on the phone. If you have to have someone other than the cashier get the food then have someone else working at the from with them. read more

This is a great spot! I went last night and enjoyed an amazing pizza (10" and could NOT eat it all) and 1/2 price wine night. My friend ordered the Eggplant dish, and she was both stuffed and impressed. (She used to live in Italy, and she said it reminded her of the food there.) We also enjoyed the Tiramisu dessert (although it could use a touch more espresso ). Our bill was only $40! Service was great, restaurant was clean, and it was clearly affordable. Well, what a find! Found this on Yelp while on my way to Charlotte. We wanted to stop somewhere locally owned and non-chain. This place was great! Got the chicken gyro plate, my husband got the lamb - both with incredible flavor. My 7 year old got the kids spaghetti and meatballs and the meat sauce tasted so good. The only negative was the baklava - kind of tough. But I'm still giving 5 because the prices were so good it was still worth it. read more

This place is seriously amazing. Been a vegetarian for going on 16 years now and they have an entire menu for vegetarians. Their food makes Olive garden taste like fast food. Seriously, my all time favorite place to eat. They have something for everyone. The salads are huge and come with the meals, you can upgrade to a Greek salad, and it's very good. This is a nice fresh style of restaurant for Shelby North Carolina. Food is more on the Greeks are than Italian but there's plenty of Italian on the menu too. Their salad dressing on the table is more Greek but it is delicious. Definitely will be back to try a different part of the menu! read more

I absolutely love eating here, it's the best place in Shelby. The only problem is I ordered catering for my wedding, chicken parm and lasagna it was over a $400 order. When we picked up our food there was no chicken parm at all and since it was my wedding day we just had to deal with it, didn't have any other options for my guest. We have visited four times and each time has been just as good as the first. Hot and fresh hot food and cold and fresh cold food. The free appetizer of dressing and crackers that you soak in it is fresh and delicious and a nice unexpected surprise to new customers. The salads are plentiful and the homemade dressings are amazing. We have had a variety of entree's and all are outstanding. The wait staff is very friendly and is happy to have you as a customer. The owner Rico is very nice and friendly and always speaks to his customers one table at a time. this is a great cozy reasonable priced bistro in downtown Shelby across from the beautiful earl Scruggs center. I really like this place and now call it one of my favorite spot. I took my 90 year old mother on one visit and she liked it as well and just thought it was lovely and that says a lot for a very discerning lady like her self. the lighting is dark and very comfortable I don't know but candles would ware well in this restaurant I did not see any but maybe on request. great place to take family members or a date. the cuisine offers Italian and mediterranian greek with the accent on Italian I think. it reminds you of those little Italian bistros in the godfather film not to suggest they are linked to the mafia at all. the pasta is great served with a pretty prepared salad and garlic bread. I suggest ordering the sphegetti combonation first a sample of the great meatsauce, meatball, mushrooms, and sausage. the waitresses are lovely an friendly the male garcons are very helpful and great Italian background music to add to the authenticity.
