don't get braces with them!!! the ortho doesn't know what he's doing and just pulls out teeth for a "quick fix" and then leaves you with a gap, then proceeds to say "oh it's because your missing a tooth" YEA BECAUSE YOU TOOK IT OUT!! my whole braces experience here has been bad, but i hope he starts to take time out of his day to really examine his patients teeth and not just do a "quick fix" because then his clients end up with teeth that shouldn't have been taken out or with over bites. The front desk people tho are really nice so at least that's one good thing they have going for them. read more

Extremely Disappointing Experience - Beware I usually don't write reviews, but I felt obligated to share what happened to me at this dental office. Despite all the glowing 5-star reviews, my experience was quite the opposite -- and I strongly urge others to approach with caution. I came in needing a simple filling for a cracked tooth. Dr. Hossam Abdelsalam did the first procedure, and the filling fell out within 2 days. I returned, and another (more experienced) dentist redid the work. That filling lasted about two months. Unfortunately, when I tried to get it fixed by a different dentist, my insurance wouldn't cover the rework -- so I was stuck going back. When I returned a third time, Dr. Hossam Abdelsalam was immediately defensive and confrontational. He accused me of doing something to "destroy" their work, which was not the case -- the filling came out during basic daily brushing and flossing. He then told me I needed a crown and refused to do another filling. I asked for their decision in writing -- they ignored the request. A few days later, I got a formal letter saying they would no longer treat me. On top of all that, their routine cleanings are very rushed -- nothing close to what I expect from a professional hygienist. It felt like they were cutting corners across the board. This experience has left me frustrated, dismissed, and now dealing with dental issues that could've been avoided with proper care. I'm about to report the situation to the dental board and am sharing this in the hope that others don't go through the same thing. I'm like most people nervous to go to the dentist I found Dr.Azab here on yelp based on his reviews and I'm so glad that I went he is patient and gentle I barely felt any work he did I'm excited to continue the process with him and I am recommending him to everyone I know! After being reached out to approximately 8 times in the last few days (via phone (from Janet from this office and Careington), email, and yelp), I'm updating my review of this dental place. It has been brought to my attention that the Careington center representative had given me wrong information about Dr. Azab being a part of their network. This was apparently the reason that he could not honor the prices I was originally quoted. That being said, when Janet (from Dr. Azab's office) called me, she told me that from the get go, the doctor knew that he was not a part of this plan. If that is true, he should have told me in the beginning when I could have just walked out instead of having my xrays taken or wasting my (and his) time. If I could write a review solely on Janet, I would give a higher star rating (maybe a 3), but the fact of the matter still is that Dr. Azab was willing to provide me with dental work when he thought i was going to pay more and then declined me service after I refused to pay. Not once did he even mention that he is not part of the plan and all he did was try to push his prices on me instead of just telling me. The front desk/receptionists at his office were also unaware of the fact that Dr. Azab does not take Careington. The only 2 people who apparently knew were Janet and Dr. Azab. When Janet called me, she seemed very genuine and caring and apologetic. But then I realized all she cared about was her Yelp review and the rating I gave this office (this was made clear by the multiple times she reached out solely regarding the Yelp review). She was apologetic and even told me that they had this same situation come up once before, about 2 months ago. That is another reason my updated review is still 1 star. If this is a problem that keeps coming up, why isn't everyone at least at his office made aware of this? I took off from work and missed a class at school because of my appointment with Dr. Azab only to have all of this happen! Had I known ahead of time that Dr. Azab's office does not honor the Careington plan, I would not have wasted my time or written a bad review of this office. But since I wasn't told by his office or him, and since I went to this appointment, I feel like my 1 star review is warranted based on the service and bedside manner that Dr. Azab provided to me at my appointment. At the end of the day, I can not comment or say anything about his work as a dentist, considering I haven't had any dental work done by him, but if I ever had to pick a dentist, I know for sure that it would not be him. read more

Dr. Azab is by far the best dentist that I have seen. I highly recommend him and Total Care Dental. Dr. Azab and his staff make each visit very comfortable and efficient. If work needs to be done, he explains it and will contact your insurance so that you know what you will have to pay out of pocket before the work is started. He is also very quick and effective when completing work. His staff is very friendly and make you feel like an old friend every time you walk in. My most recent appointment was during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their efforts to ensure a safe and healthy environment did not go unnoticed. I have no doubt that they are going above and beyond any sanitation and safety requirements. read more

Came a year ago for an extraction and let me tell you I have a big BIG anxiety when it comes to dentistry. Dr. Azab was amazing patient and very informative with me of what he is doing. He won me over and went back today. This time I had my children with me for my 6month check up. My daughter got seen first and the assistant was amazing and patient with my daughter. Now my turn. I had one cavity. So I thought he was going to say "come back with out your kids" but nope he said don't worry I'll get it fixed right now. This man has patience for my anxiety again and for 2 screaming kids. Dr Azab and the assistant again won me over. Patience is what this office has and amazing customer service. read more

I mainly decided to come to Dr. Azab becauase it was close to my house. I haven't been to the dentist in a while and I knew I needed work done. I was tired of feeling insecure about my smile and figured it was time to get things in order. I definitely was not pleased with my experience. After the x-rays and exam, Dr. Azab told me about a root canal I needed along with crownsk. He said I "needed" to start the work right away. I told him I don't have the means to pay for all of this work because I'm a college student paying for my degree and my insurance wouldn't cover all of the costs. He said that he gladly accepts cash and urged me to get that bs "Care Credit" so I can take out a loan and get all of my necessary dental work done. I left after that because he was clearly only interested in making money and not about the patient. I do have insurance now that will pay for my root canal and crowns I need but I most certainly will be taking my business elsewhere. I do not recommend this dentist to anyone. read more

I feel bad for the last user having a difficult experience with Dr. Azab, but I had the complete opposite experience. It started with my alarm not going off, and when I called Dr. Azab's office to tell them I would not be able to make my appointment, they told me to come in as they should be able to accommodate me. Even though I was late they got me in very quickly. The staff was very kind and easy to talk to making the whole experience more comfortable. From there we proceeded with the cleaning, which was very thorough. He did find a couple issues and offered to start working on them right away. This wasn't my first cavity, but it was the best filling I've ever had. It started with Dr. Azab explaining the issues then drawing up a treatment plan and walking me through the payment options. I found this step incredibly helpful, as opposed to other dentists who let you find out the cost once the service has been rendered. The entire area was numbed perfectly (I've had problems with other dentists in this area), the drilling was quick and efficient, and the filling is almost unnoticeable. Going to the dentist has never been one of my favorite activities, but going to Dr. Azab is going to make this necessity much more bearable. read more

This was my first time at this dental office and it was quite a pleasant experience. First, let me reiterate when I say I have had my share of dental work in the past and have seen several dentist in my years. One way to know if a dentist is truly a scam artist is the second of them meeting you they tell you, you're in need of a lot of dental work. Not Dr. Azab. He thoroughly looked at my teeth and complemented on well they looked and well taken care of they were. His dental cleanings were amazing as well and my mouth felt beyond clean. I live by this dentist office and will definitely return in 6 months for my next cleaning. Let me not forget to compliment his staff. Dr. Azab has hearing issues, no doubt. I also really dislike the wife/office manager. It always seem like she is a spokes person for the Doctor. I don't want her to apologize to me. The doctor should be the one communicating with his patients not the wife. I also noticed that he does not treat his assistants the best. You always have to sit and wait because he has 4 patients at once. I had a crown put on few years back by him. It turned out that the tooth he put a crown on was cracked and I had to have it pulled soon after. Now I have an implant in that place (done by a fantastic dentist). Was it necessary to send all the extra money though? I had a cleaning done by him and I think I could have done better myself. Shirt on my back was wet because his equipment sprays water all over the place. I wasn't even offered a tissue. I would never recommend him to anyone. read more

Saying that Dr. Azab is the BEST in Chicago is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!! I had my wisdom teeth impacted and still under the gum, Dr. Azab said it had to be a surgical extraction and gave me local anesthetic, the extraction took ONLY 5 MINUTES FOR ALL MY WISDOM TEETH!!! I have never had such a pleasant experience with something so important and traumatic, from start to finish Dr. Azab was incredible along with his friendly team. He honestly has a talent because the next day I was eating fried chicken, coleslaw, and the list goes on! I highly recommend to go to Dr. Azab for a great dental experience! read more

Dr. E Azab....oh where do I start......He has two hearing aids, so communication (especially from a dental chair!) can be a challenge. That said, he's a nice man.....but a horrible dentist. I found Dr. Azab from 1-800-Dentist. He takes my insurance, is close to my house & work......seemed perfect. He's a little odd, but nothing too strange. He really loves to do deep cleanings. The first time I had my teeth cleaned here he did the deep cleaning. Insisted. Strange but ok..... I have fairly problem free teeth. I only needed to see Dr. Azab for my routine cleanings and exams and there wasn't usually an issue. I tried to make my appointment for a cleaning..... but Dr. Azab has two offices. They don't have the other office's # on their answering machine. So I just left a message that I was trying to make an appointment and to call me back. It took 6 days and then the call I got was not to schedule an appointment, but rather a "you had an appointment today why did you miss it?" WHAT?! At least they didn't charge me a missed appointment fee but I was livid, how can you do that? This incident put me off calling back for my cleaning for another month at least. However, recently my Maryland bridge also fell out....so I needed it re-glued in. The bridge fell out on a Tuesday night and they said they could get me in Wed afternoon. Then they called back and said they DIDN'T have an appointment available on Wed, the soonest they could get me in was Thursday, over my lunch at their other office (8441 W Lawrence). I said ok. Now the REAL clusterf*ck starts.... I show up for my appointment, the hygienist takes bite wing xrays but didn't even tell me she was going to do that first (pet peeve). Then Dr. Azab comes in....he didn't prep the bridge or the area.....then glues it in with the light-reactive glue they use for braces brackets, etc. I told him it didn't feel right, and was too low, hitting my bottom teeth when I bite. His solution? To grind on the bridge with a drill......then to grind on my perfectly fine bottom teeth! That hurt, and really made my anxiety spike (I'm a redhead....curse this horrible dental anxiety!). I was shaking at this point and he just tells me to calm down. He continues to futz with it but it still doesn't feel right at all. Then he proceeds to "clean" my teeth. He didn't ask me if I've been having issues, he didn't ask me if I've been flossing, he didn't scrape my teeth at all. He didn't floss for me, he didn't do anything but run the "gritty toothpaste" over my teeth. Oh and I didn't mention that the ENTIRE time he's lecturing me about how this Maryland bridge will just fall out again and I really should be getting an implant. I told him, I know I need an implant eventually but that involves a bone graft, about a years worth of time and appointments and about $3000 that I don't have. And the worst part is that he's mentioned this to me EVERY visit that I've ever seen him. (Super annoying). He even had the audacity to tell me that he thinks for me money isn't an option and I should schedule a consultation right away. So finally, I leave, try to pay with a check like I've always done and they say they don't take checks. WTF (again!). Then they change course and take my check. I go out to my car, start crying, call my husband and realize, this is BS I'm not paying for this service, and go back in to talk to Dr. Azab. I go back in and talk to Dr. Azab and his wife who is the office manager. I complain about the bridge not feeling right, the "shortest/quickest cleaning I've ever had in my life" and the snafu trying to schedule. They tell me they are sorry, they apologize a few times, they give me back the check I paid with, they tell me they care about me and will "try harder". I was not really happy with this, but what else can I do?........THEN - THAT SAME NIGHT my bridge falls out again. I WILL NEVER BE BACK TO DR. AZAB. Especially since I found a great dentist who told me that the oxidation of the wings of the bridge mean you have to send it out to the lab to get it to "stick" well and use a special glue that is ONLY used for Maryland bridges, not that light reactive crap Dr. Azab used. Obviously he has no idea what he's doing. STAY AWAY! read more

I was very nervous about getting a tooth pulled. I got no sleep the previous night and I was terrified. But once it was all over I can assure you it was nothing to worry about. Took 10 seconds. Dr. Azab is very professional and made me feel extremely comfortable. His assistant Sandra was also very polite and dried my tears because I cried prior to the extraction. I felt comforted and it made it a better experience for me. Wonderful team and will be coming back in the future. No need to be nervous if you're getting work done here because everyone tries to make it a fast and easy experience for you. read more

AWFUL! Absolutely do NOT recommend! For starters, it took me longer to drive there (17 minutes) then my actual appointment lasted (15 minutes), including the x-rays. Dr. Azab didn't even look my way when I first walked in but wanted to try and be friendly when he came in to clean my teeth. Not personable at all. In my 27 years, I've never been afraid of going to the dentist and I have a high pain tolerance but after today...I was in so much pain, I'll never go back. The very first tool he used (very sharp so I'm assuming it was a pick to clean in between my teeth) hurt SO bad. It actually felt like a needle was going into my gums and he was in such a hurry to get it done so it made it worse. I kept flinching, pulling back, and even said "ouch" a few times and not once did he stop or even ask if I was doing ok, nor did his assistant. I hardly had time to even shut my mouth for a second to swallow before he would force his way back in. My face was soaked after that from water and my eyes were watering as well because of the pain. All of it was extremely rushed and not thorough at all. And for the actual cleaning itself, it was about a minute long. He took the toothpaste, smeared it across my bottom teeth, then did the same to the top and that was it. I still had the gritty toothpaste on my teeth when I left. My old dentist (in another state) would thoroughly brush and floss between each and every tooth so the process took about 30-45 minutes at least. Dr. Azab didn't even floss after brushing. I'm still outraged that I even wasted my time going there today and left in pain. Needless to say, do NOT go to Dr. Azab and especially if you have kids because he's very insensitive while "cleaning" your teeth and your kids will be in pain I'm sure. read more

Chose this dentist because it was close to where my husband and I live, and took our insurance. Those were about the only two good things about this dentist. The visit it's self was just painful, but that's to be expected from most dentists. Afterwards I was given antibiotics for a minor infection...no big deal. Except the dentist decided it was a good idea to give me the only antibiotic that would KILL ME, penicillin. Obviously it was noted on my paperwork that DEATHLY allergic to penicillin. This apparently didn't matter to him. Once Walgreens caught this, they called the dentist to make them aware of this dangerous mistake and to get a new prescription. They were told that the dentist had already left for the day and "COULD NOT BE BOTHERED WITH THIS" (a direct quote from the office staff). So, his negligence could have cost me my life, and he just couldn't be bothered with it. I wish that was where this story ended. I found a new dentist the other day to pick up where Dr. Death left off with routine maintenance. During my check up and x-rays, my new dentist commented on how it's great that I only have one cavity in a back molar (I am aware of this). The problem is that Dr. Azab had told me I had three additional cavities throughout my mouth! Three cavities I DO NOT HAVE. Three cavities he "offered to start working on right away!" to drill and fill and charge me for during my last appointment. So he may seem like he is helpful, he is just ensuring you don't get a second opinion before he pops those fillings into your mouth and charges you for it. So if you want a recklessly negligent dentist who will destroy your healthy teeth for a profit...you have found your dentist! Good luck. read more

This place is amazing! I had a tooth that was falling apart on the upper back part and each day that went by it was getting worse so I needed it taken care of ASAP. I went to a dentist (Cornerstone Dental) on Monday (8/15/2016) and she told me she will not pull my tooth and that I had to go to a oral surgeon. I was there for an hour and a half and the only thing that was done was xrays. I couldn't wait cause it was 1) falling to pieces as the days went by and 2) I'm going on vacation within the week and I wanted to be ok by then. I had another tooth (wisdom) pulled by dentist Emad Azab and he did a great job so I called his office to make an appointment and they took me the next day (8/16/2016). I was there for about 30 minutes and had xrays and the tooth pulled. It couldn't have gone any better. He's an amazing dentist and I'd recommend him for any kind of extraction. I went to see Dr. Arab to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I had a hard time finding a dentist or as my past dentist said an oral surgeon who would take my insurance. Total care dental was 5 min from my house and they accepted my insurance, county care. The appointment was made promptly. The dental assistant was so kind to me as I never had any dental work done in my life besides regular cleaning when I arrived. Dr. Arab took all four wisdom teeth out in 3 min literally he timed it. The shots to numb the area was the only part of the procedure as they warned me would be a bit uncomfortable. I felt no pain only pressure during extraction. Afterwards he explained the next steps of the healing process, he even held my hand as I was was so scared during the procedure. Excellent service very compassionate! For months and months I had neglected my dental care only because I have county care for my insurance and it was either to hard to find a place or it took too long for an appointment to be scheduled. Thanks to a lil research and patience, I called Total Care Dental and found out they accept county care! I setup an appointment and got seen right away. There wasn't even a long wait to see the doctor. I got my wisdom teeth pulled and three really needed fillings out the way in two sessions in a week. I was in and out and back on my way.
